When he asked what he remembered about working on Reign of Fire in a time when having dragons in a movie was not all that common, Butler said:

Al Pacino, Dan Stevens Attempt to Perform an Exorcism in ‘The Ritual’ Trailer
Image
Al Pacino and Dan Stevens have differing methods of spreading their faith in the trailer for The Ritual.

Director David Midell’s feature is set to hit theaters June 6 from XYZ Films. Ashley Greene, Patricia Heaton, Abigail Cowen and Ritchie Montgomery round out the cast.

The Ritual focuses on Father Theophilus Riesinger (Pacino) and Father Joseph Steiger (Stevens) as they aim to assist a young woman who appears to be possessed by demons.

“We are the Lord’s army in this battle,” Pacino says in the trailer. “She is touched by something otherworldly.”

Later, Stevens asks, “What if what she really needs is a doctor?” This leads Pacino to respond, “We are paying a price for your lack of faith.”

The Ritual is inspired by the 1935 book Begone Satan!, which has been at the center of faith-based debate for nearly a century. Midell helmed the movie from a script he co-wrote with Enrico Natale.

Oscar Isaac & Mark Hamill Lead 'The King of Kings' Trailer, a Time-Traveling Jesus Christ Movie
Image
Fans have just received their first look at the upcoming film that will reunite Star Wars actors Oscar Isaac and Mark Hamill in a not-so-distant galaxy a long, long time ago. The King of Kings is an animated feature that puts a somewhat sci-fi twist on the story of the original miracle worker, and the film's official teaser trailer reveals an initial glimpse of Isaac's transformation into the Son of God Himself.

Directed by renowned VFX specialist Seong-ho Jang, and produced by South Korea's Mofac Animation, The King of Kings adds an intriguing element of time travel to an otherwise familiar Biblical tale. Based off of a Charles Dickens short story, the film follows none other than the 19th century author himself — along with his son, Walter — as they inadvertently stumble upon a multidimensional portal and end up coming face-to-face with history's most talked-about celebrity. Jesus isn't the only...

Steven Yeun and Ali Wong in Acharnés (2023)
Oscar Isaac, Carey Mulligan In Talks to Join Beef Season 2
Steven Yeun and Ali Wong in Acharnés (2023)
The first season of the Netflix anthology series Beef turned out to be a massive success by any metric.

The sort of buzzed-about prestige show that streamers have been seeking with increasing desperation in recent years, Beef was as big with critics and award committees as it was with subscribers.

While the series has yet to officially be renewed, the move is an inevitable no-brainer for Netflix.

Of course, the show will face the usual sophomore season challenges that accompany the anthology format.

We don't know much about how Beef will tackle those issues from a storytelling perspective.

But it looks like the bigwigs who control the purse strings are doing their part by going all-in on casting.

Oscar Isaac and Carey Mulligan are reportedly negotiating to join the cast of Beef Season 2
Image
Do Oscar Isaac and Carey Mulligan have beef with one another? No, not exactly. According to Deadline, the duo is negotiating to star in Beef Season 2. While Netflix refused to comment about its status with the Emmy darling, it’s an excellent time to remind everyone that Netflix has not officially announced Beef Season 2. Deadline says the roles that Oscar Isaac and Carey Mulligan would play for Beef Season 2 were originally for Jake Gyllenhaal and Anne Hathaway, but momentum on them joining the series stalled. Meanwhile, the move to add Charles Melton and Cailee Spaeny to the series remains a mystery.

Lee Sung Jin created Beef, which Ali Wong and Steven Yeun led. The show revolves around two people (Wong and Yeun) who let a road rage incident burrow into their minds and slowly consume their thoughts and actions. Their toxic relationship evolves into an all-out war with disastrous consequences.

What Forced the Cannes Market to Offer Smarter Movies? Strikes Get Some of the Credit
Image
A year removed from the start of the WGA strike, we’re just starting to see what recovery looks like. It’s rough: TIFF and AFM were disappointing, and Berlin didn’t offer many appealing talent packages. Projects are taking a long time to come together, if they’re happening at all.

However, Cannes may offer a silver lining: The post-strike market may mean a decline in the annual onslaught of trade announcements for movie projects that go nowhere.

“There’s still a lag in the marketplace where stuff isn’t filming; that’s going to affect what’s going on in production right now,” said one domestic sales agent. “During the WGA strike, a lot of talent had taken a seat and said, ‘What is it we really want from the marketplace? We want a different kind of quality.’ You hear it a lot from actors: ‘We want better movies.

Domhnall Gleeson and White Lotus’s Sabrina Impacciatore cast in Greg Daniels’s new comedy set in The Office universe
Image
Greg Daniels and Michael Koman could return to The Office universe, with Domhnall Gleeson and Sabrina Impacciatore (The White Lotus) as cast members of the proposed spinoff. Gleeson and Inpacciatore would be part of an ensemble for the project, which Deadline says is close to entering production. Plot details about The Office spinoff remain a mystery.

We know only a little about the project beyond its setting in The Office universe. Daniels wants fans to know it’s not a reboot, even though it takes place in the same arena as the Steve Carell-led mockumentary series focusing on the fictional Dunder Mifflin Paper Company employees. Daniels says the new show could feature a camera crew doing a documentary about a subject outside the day-to-day lives of office workers surviving the daily grind and their toxic boss.

Domhnall Gleeson launched his acting career in 2001 as a character named Byrne in an episode of Rebel Heart.

Having flown in from a shoot in Rome, Kilik confesses he still loves being on set after a career spanning four decades, including work with Spike Lee, Julian Schnabel, Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu, Jim Jarmusch and Oliver Stone.

His latest project filming in Europe, “In the Hand of Dante,” starring Gal Gadot and Oscar Isaac in a metaphorical journey through hell to paradise, is characteristic of Kilik’s lifelong passion for bringing challenging works of literature and art to the screen.

And he’s proven time and again that such films have an audience and are economically viable, he points out, if handled...

Action Kings Oscar Isaac, Jason Momoa, And Gerard Butler To Lead The Coolest-Sounding Crime Movie Of The Year
Image
Gird your loins, action fans, because this next bit of news might just be the wildest production of the year. /Film has never been shy about our love for B-movie king Gerard Butler, a star who has carved a bloody path through movies like "300," the increasingly ridiculous "Has Fallen" franchise, and the brilliantly-titled "Plane" earlier this year. Now, imagine him joining forces with "Dune" alums Jason Momoa (who, between "Aquaman" and especially "Fast X," has fully come into his own as the surfer-bro epitome of "Dudes rock" that audiences have been hungry for) and Oscar freaking Isaac in what's being billed as a crime/thriller that takes its cues from one of the greatest epic poems ever conceived by humankind. While words can't fully convey the scope of this trio's next big project, we feel like that gets pretty close to setting the table here.
