Claire and Teddy are repeatedly shown to have spotty cellular service in the house and the immediate area around it. So Teddy decides to chance a call for help by going outside the house.

But the house is shown to have Internet (albeit with slower upload) and appears to have WiFi(!)

So they could have used their iPhones to make calls either via WiFi calling or a VoIP (Voice over IP) app, used a hotspot from their MacBook, or even made a VoIP call from the MacBook in order to call for assistance.
