Joseph Gordon-Levitt is set to host the 2013 Sundance Film Festival Awards Ceremony.

The Looper star, who made his directing debut at the 2009 Festival with the short film Sparks, will take the stage on Jan. 26 in Park City to headline the feature film ceremony (the prizes for short films will be distributed at a separate event). The entire ceremony will be live-streamed on the Sundance website.

Child actor turned Hollywood A-Lister, Joseph Gordon-Levitt will make his directorial debut on a yet untitled feature-film comedy. Not only is Gordon-Levitt directing, he wrote the script and will also be starring in the comedy alongside Scarlett Johansson.

Gordon-Levitt has not given too many details regarding the film other than a brief description of it. The film is described as a sexy comedy about a modern-day Don Juan who is on a quest to become less of a “selfish dick.” Gordon-Levitt will be playing the role of the modern day Don Juan reports Deadline.com. Johansson will be playing one of the female leads in the movie, however there is a second female lead which has not been filled as of yet.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt has a busy 2012. The actor will be seen in The Dark Knight Rises, Premium Rush, Looper, and Lincoln. He is also set to make his feature directing debut. As years go, 2012 is shaping up to be The Best Ever for at least one Hollywood multi-hyphenate. In April, EW has confirmed that Joseph Gordon-Levitt will step behind the camera for his feature directing debut in an untitled comedy starring Gordon-Levitt as a ladies man attempting to reform himself. The actor also penned the original screenplay, and will co-star with Scarlett Johansson. (Deadline first reported the story.)

The news comes as Gordon-Levitt is set to star in four high profile feature films this year: The Dark Knight Rises, the Manhattan bike messenger thriller Premium Rush, the sci-fi thriller Looper, and Steven Spielberg’s Lincoln.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt might only be 30 years old, but he has already distinguished himself as an actor with a wide range. Beginning in commercials as a young child, he made his film debut in 1992′s Beethoven, but it wasn’t until 1996 that he became a household name, co-starring in the television sitcom 3rd Rock from the Sun. After a hiatus during which he attended Columbia University, Gordon-Levitt left television for film acting, and ever since, his career has continued to grow year after year. Levitt has been one of my favourite upcoming actors of the past decade, starring in some of my favourite indie films. Of course there are many reasons to love Jgl. The Scoop: (2008) You'd think a big budget adaptation of a novel by Hollywood favorite Elmore Leonard would get the red carpet treatment, especially when it features such a great cast, but after being shelved in 2006, "Killshot" languished for three years before a limited run in theaters. Channing Tatum’s HitRECord.org comedic short premiered to a packed house at the 2010 South by Southwest Film Festival last week.

For those who don’t know, HitRECord.org is a site that was started by Chan’s longtime friend Joseph Gordon-Levitt. It’s a place where artists and filmmakers can post their work and then collaborate with a community of users who can contribute to the work by adding their own tweaks.

Why are we so thankful for Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Zooey Deschanel in 2009? Simple. The duo redefined the "cute couple" with their cool characters in "(500) Days of Summer." They almost made us forget about all the generic rom-coms and recycled relationship tropes regurgitated onto movie screens over the past year. We salute them for their originality, their willingness to take risks and their joyful, affecting, truthful portrait of love and loss.

Recently, Gordon-Levitt and Deschanel stopped by the MTV News offices to chat about their on- and off-screen bond, their other successful projects this year and what we can look forward to from them in the future — including a possible reunion on the big screen.

The 2009 Palm Springs International ShortFest, which runs June 23-29 at the Camelot Theatres, will present 315 films, including directorial debuts by Demi Moore, Courteney Cox-Arquette, Marianne Jean-Baptiste and Joseph Gordon-Levitt.

Now in its 15th year, ShortFest will showcase 76 world premieres, 43 North American premieres and 14 U.S. premieres.

Moore directed "Streak," starring Brittany Snow, Rumer Willis and Madeline Zima; Cox-Arquette helmed and starred in "The Monday Before Thanksgiving" with Laura Dern and Rosemary Harris; Jean-Baptiste directed "Ink"; and Gordon-Levitt helmed "Sparks," starring Carla Gugino and Eric Stoltz.

The films will be organized into 52 programs covering numerous genres and themes. One will highlight short films from the Singapore-based Nyu Tisch School of the Arts Asia.
