The Devil Came Home (2021)
Tim, Elaine, and Mindy, (the Baxter family), have moved into a cottage in the countryside in the forlorn hope that things will improve for them. Her husband, Tim, has PTSD from 22 years in the army and her daughter, (from a previous relationship), Mindy, is a problematic teenager who does not get along with her stepfather at all. Elaine calls her friend and psychiatrist, Peter Richards, for help but, when the situation begins to get out of control, with a series of bizarre and intimidating events happening to each of the occupants in the house, and Tim now claiming to be someone else, Elaine feels her only hope is Jonathan Walker, a priest and close family friend. With Tim's health fading, the family on the verge of collapse and Richards still believing the issue is with Tim's mind, Walker sets about going to war with the demon that has possessed Tim...

Amazing was what you can do with talent, hard work and good story, even without a Hollywood budget.

Over the years there have been many big budget Hollywood films that focus more on visual effects than the story. What I like about low budget independent cinema is the fact that without the money, you have to rely on the story and the talent to make a decent film.

This is the case with The Devil came home.

I thought this is a great little film. The writing is great and the direction is really, really good.

The tension is slowly built and the film keeps you hooked from beginning to end.

The performances from the actors/actresses are good and each character is portrayed really well.

I can imagine that with a Hollywood budget behind him, the writer/director could really make some entertaining movies that would stand well alongside some of the horror classics.

Still a good movie, for the genre

First off: this seems a bit low budget.

But the movie developes suspense and gets his viewers keep watching.

Weakness is, for example, the well-known plot and the abrupt ending.

I liked it, tough it was a b movie.

    Fantastic gripping British horror

Finally a great British horror, although the budget was not huge, the movie was shot absolutely fantastically, the actors portrayed each character so well. The story is a great possession horror, which shows if someone is mentally weak they are susceptible to the dark forces to overcome them.

Hats off to the director for a great story which shows the background story was well researched.
