Lucy Lawless' Iconic Serires Gets A Reboot Update From Its Co-Creator
Image
The co-creator of Xena: Warrior Princess has given an update on the show's potential reboot. A series so great that it has been compared to The Lord of the Rings movies, Xena: Warrior Princess focused on the titular warrior and her partner, Gabrielle, battling foes. That timeless concept has allowed Xena: Warrior Princess to still get rave reviews.

Introduced as a spin-off of Hercules: The Legendary Journeys, Xena: Warrior Princess originally aired from 1995 until 2001. Since fans continue to love Xena: Warrior Princess to this day, there is still a dedicated following who would love to see more adventures featuring the show's characters.

Xena: Warrior Princess' co-creator, Robert Tapert, spoke to Entertainment Weekly for an oral history of the show. After discussing the popular fantasy show, Tapert told the outlet that work is being done on a Xena: Warrior Princess reboot series. However, Tapert also expressed skepticism about his ability to...

‘Ernie & Emma’ – Bruce Campbell Directed a Movie for the First Time in Almost 20 Years
Image
Horror icon Bruce Campbell made the move behind the camera back in 2005 with horror-comedy Man with the Screaming Brain, and it was two years later that he directed himself again in meta movie My Name Is Bruce. 18 years later, Campbell is back in the director’s chair!

Now in post-production according to IMDb, Bruce Campbell directed a comedy-drama titled Ernie & Emma, and he also stars in the film as a salesman grieving the loss of his beloved wife.

Produced by Bruce Campbell’s real-life wife Ida Gearon, Ernie & Emma was both written and directed by Campbell, and he opens up about the project in a chat with The Horror Zine.

“Initially, it was out of a desire to see if I could make a one character movie,” Campbell explains the origins of the upcoming Ernie & Emma. “Eventually, with influences of my dad as a Detroit ad guy and the place where I currently live,...

This Beloved '80s Horror-Comedy Sequel From Sam Raimi Gets a Sinister New Figure
Image
With the spooky season right around the corner, it's time to start planning all the horror movie marathons you'll be having in the coming months. If you love the '80s and horror-comedies, then Sam Raimi's Evil Dead II is a must-watch every October. Now the 1987 sequel is getting a new figure from Sideshow Collectibles.

The latest sixth scale figure from Sideshow and Asmus Collectible Toys is Deadite Ash. The evil version of Bruce Campbell’s popular scream king, Ash Williams, comes with an alternate creepy head, multiple interchangeable hands, a severed hand giving the middle finger, an axe, and a bandaged stub hand accessory. This killer piece also comes with loose pages from the iconic demonic book, the Necronomicon, and a figure stand. Deadite Ash will be $210 Usd.

A Groovy Figure for a Horror King

When it comes to male performances in horror, there are none as iconic as Campbell's Ash William portrayal.

Weapons makes a $70m killing at the box office
Image
Director Zach Cregger’s offbeat horror Weapons has made a sizeable $70m at the box office, ahead of Freakier Friday and a dwindling Fantastic Four.

Eighteen-rated, tonally eccentric, and directed from an original screenplay, Weapons sounds like the sort of movie Hollywood studios would ordinarily cross the street to avoid. Yet director Zach Cregger’s horror-mystery has managed to make a sizeable impact at the box office over the weekend, pulling in $70m worldwide.

That’s far ahead of Disney’s family-friendly comedy sequel Freakier Friday, which made $44.5m, and The Fantastic Four: First Steps, which has again dropped precipitously on its third week of release. The latter’s still made a healthy-sounding $434m worldwide to date, but placed against a production budget of around $200m before marketing’s taken into account, it becomes clear that Marvel’s superhero opus will take some time to properly break even.

Weapons, by contrast,...

‘Weapons’ Thrills To $70M Global Bow, ‘Freakier Friday’ Embodies $45M & ‘Jurassic World Rebirth’ Crossing $800M WW – International Box Office
Image
Refresh for latest…: Two new studio movies entered the marketplace this weekend, and both exceeded expectations.

To wit: New Line/Warner Bros’ Weapons led the charge for the studios at the international box office with the well-reviewed horror from Zach Cregger grossing $27.5M from 72 markets. Combined with domestic, that takes the global debut to $70M.

Meanwhile, Disney’s Freakier Friday, with a $15.5M overseas launch in 46 material markets, had a global bow of $44.5M.

And, there’s a new milestone afoot for Universal/Amblin’s Jurassic World Rebirth. Read on…

Weapons’ international opening, in like-for-like markets and at today’s exchange rates, is tracking above Speak No Evil (+164%), Smile (+77%), The Black Phone (+59%), Evil Dead Rise (+34%) and M3GAN (+29%).

Notably, in Europe, Weapons was tops for the region including UK, Spain, Italy, Germany, France, Holland and Poland. In like-for-likes, the debut was ahead of Sinners (+33%), Smile (+46%) and Speak No Evil (+110%).

In Latin America,...

Review: Weapons is a Locked and Loaded Suburban Nightmare
Image
In 2022, Whitest Kids U'Know comedian Zach Cregger became a bona fide horror creator thanks to Barbarian. As I wrote at the time, and I'd still assert today, it's one of the wildest contemporary horror flicks to earn a wide release. There's a reason why his second film, Weapons, sold to New Line Cinema in a heated bidding war—but was it money well spent? Cregger's appropriately hyped sophomore thriller thankfully shows no signs of slumpage. Weapons is mysterious and monstrous, with hints of James Wan, The ‘Burbs, the Coen brothers, The Sadness, and twenty other horror influences that somehow blend into a delicious neighborhood nightmare.

Weapons unfolds in chapters, starting with Julia Garner's elementary teacher, Justine Gandy. When 17 students from her class go missing—all but Alex Lilly (Cary Christopher)—she suddenly becomes the town's prime suspect. No one knows what happened except that at 2:17 Am one night,...

HBO Max Streaming the Shocking Sequel Critics Call a “Glorious mashup of gore and gags”
Image
There’s something comforting about a horror sequel that returns to a beloved property years after the success of the original. Revisiting a familiar universe with fresh ideas is the best of both worlds. It’s like a nostalgic stroll down memory lane featuring new themes in a familiar space.

I especially like to see a sequel to a celebrated horror IP that is unafraid to mix things up by opting for an unexpected change of setting. While we might be used to seeing a particular franchise play out in a rural locale far removed from the hustle and bustle of the city, that doesn’t mean that it’s entirely necessary to repeat the same pattern in each subsequent series installment.

Evil Dead Rise writer/director Lee Cronin (50 States of Fright) understands the benefit of shaking things up and does exactly that by relocating the action from the...

Presumed Innocent season 2: Jack Reynor to star alongside Rachel Brosnahan in Apple TV+ series
Jack Reynor
According to Deadline, Jack Reynor is set to join Rachel Brosnahan (Superman) in the second season of Apple TV+’s Presumed Innocent.

The first season of the legal thriller was based on the 1987 novel of the same name by Scott Turow, but the second will be based on Dissection of a Murder by Jo Murray, which will be published next year. Although the logline for the series remains under wraps, the synopsis for the novel reads: “When Leila Reynolds is handed her first murder case, she’s shocked at how high-profile it is: the murder of a well-respected, well-known judge. This shouldn’t be the kind of case she’s leading; it’s way beyond her expertise. But the defendant, Jack Millman, is clear. He wants her, and only her.“

Final Destination Meets The Ring in First Trailer for Dafne Keen’s New Supernatural Horror Movie
Image
Horror fans may want to check out the upcoming genre film Whistle. Starring Dafne Keen in the lead role, the film won't be released until next year, but its first teaser trailer has just been released.

Comparable to something like Final Destination meets The Ring, Whistle is about a group of friends trying to escape death after they discover a cursed, ancient whistle. Its premise is a bit unusual, but the teaser reveals just how freaky the film could very well be, filled with some intense and horrific moments. The preview also touts how the film comes from the executive producers of The Monkey, Evil Dead Rise, and Longlegs. Check out the video below.

The official synopsis for Whistle reads, "A misfit group of unwitting high school students stumble upon a cursed object, an ancient Aztec Death Whistle. They discover that blowing the whistle and the terrifying sound it emits...

Naomi Scott's 86% Rotten Tomatoes Horror Sequel Is a Hit on Streaming
Image
Horror fans are smiling. This past week, Netflix added to its catalog a horror movie that was a standout in movie theaters, and subscribers had been dying to watch it or give it a second viewing. The result was predictable: Smile 2is now among the top 10 most-watched movies on the streaming platform this week. This time, the story follows music superstar Skye Riley (Naomi Scott) as she gets hit with the curse that makes everyone around her do terrible things – all with a smile on their faces.

Back when the first movie premiered in 2022, the concept of Smilewas already sinister enough. In the sequel, however, director and screenwriter Parker Finn (Smile) found a way to make it even more disturbing, with some death scenes that viewers will remember forever. One of them involves Lukas Gage (Companion) and a weight plate in a scene that you have to see to believe.

Sam Raimi's Popular $303M Horror Franchise Gets Major Filming Update
Image
The massively popular Evil Dead franchise will take its next step forward in 2026 with Evil Dead Burn, and the production process got a major update straight from the movie's writer/director, Sébastien Vaniček. After a long hiatus, the Evil Dead franchise was rebooted in 2013 with Evil Dead by Fede Álvarez (Alien: Romulus), and followed up with Lee Cronin's Evil Dead Rise in 2023.

The franchise's current cadence is to have Sam Raimi and Rob Tapert, the originators of the Evil Dead series, hand-pick a new director for each new movie. Each director brings their own unique style and flair to the base concept of Deadites wreaking havoc on the mortal world, and while there are some commonalities and Easter eggs, each new movie can comfortably be treated as a stand-alone.

The latest choice is 28-year-old writer and director Sébastien Vaniček, who put his stamp on the horror genre with the...

Star of the Next 'Evil Dead' Film Gives Great New Update Fans Will Love [Exclusive]

Despite its title — Evil Dead Burn — the latest installment from the Sam Raimi-created horror franchise is set to rise from the ashes (pun intended) next year and carry on as one of the genre’s most beloved film series. Since the project signed on Sébastien Vaniček, yet another celebrated filmmaker, to pick up the torch previously carried by Lee Cronin, Fede Álvarez, and, of course, Raimi, audiences have been eager to uncover more information surrounding the film, which is slated to fully traumatize viewers next year.

Thanks to a chat with one of the upcoming film’s stars, Luciane Buchanan, while on the red carpet for her latest project, Apple TV+’s Chief of War, Collider’s editor-in-chief, Steve Weintraub, received an incredible update surrounding the title’s production schedule. Evil Dead Burn Has Officially Started Shooting For Summer 2026 Release
Image
Welp, someone’s done it again. The Necronomicon has resurfaced, and despite all warnings against intoning any of the words inside, passages have clearly been read that’ve raised those malevolent deadites. Yes, the Evil Dead are rising once more. Two years after Lee Cronin’s Evil Dead Rise, the next instalment in the Sam Raimi horror saga is officially go: Evil Dead Burn, a film that, as far as we know, is unconnected (in a direct sense) to the previous entries in the series.

The film is being directed by French filmmaker Sébastien Vaniček, behind recent cult hit spider horror Infested, and Vaniček confirmed on his Instagram that cameras on Burn are officially rolling.

Details on Evil Dead Burn are relatively scarce – we have no sense of plot, or whether the film will pick up on any threads from Evil Dead Rise, or Fede Alvarez’s 2013 Evil Dead, or Raimi’s original trilogy.

This Classic Universal Horror Film Set Doug Jones on the Path to Becoming Hollywood's Favorite Monster Actor [Exclusive]
Image
Doug Jones is one of the modern era's most accomplished monster actors, having embodied inhuman creatures in films like Hocus Pocus, Pan's Labyrinth, and The Shape of Water. He was inspired by one of the most iconic horror actors of all time: Boris Karloff. While discussing his career at a panel at this year's Atl Comics Convention in Atlanta, moderated by Collider's Maggie Lovitt, Jones talked about the film that inspired his legendary performances.

Although Jones' first love was comedy, he credited a classic monster movie with inspiring his eventual transformation into one of modern cinema's most accomplished boogeymen:

"My first monster movie, in Indianapolis, Indiana, was a late-night Friday show hosted by Sammy Terry. [laughs maniacally] And it was The Mummy, with Boris Karloff. So watching that movie and the effect those haunting eyes of his had on me, and how he affected the head-to-toe performance that we're talking about.

The Greatest Horror Reboot of the 2010s Slashes Its Way Onto Hulu Next Month
Image
One of the first horror movies of the 2010s to kick off the genre's reboot craze is heading to Hulu. Fede Álvarez's Evil Dead will land on the streamer at the top of next month.

Beginning August 1, Evil Dead will be available to stream on Hulu. Released in 2013, the supernatural horror movie serves as both a soft reboot and continuation of the Evil Dead franchise, following a new set of protagonists who come under attack by dead people in a remote cabin in the woods. Although the reboot received mixed reviews from critics, with review aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes noting an approval rating of 63%, it was a box office success, earning just under $98 million worldwide off a $17 million production budget.

The Evil Dead franchise began in 1981 with writer/director Sam Raimi's low-budget horror film The Evil Dead, starring Bruce Campbell as Ash Williams. Following the massive success of The Evil Dead,...

Last June, it was announced that Evil Dead Rise director Lee Cronin had signed on to write and direct a new genre project for Atomic Monster, Blumhouse Productions, and New Line Cinema… and in December, we found out what that mysterious project is, as it was revealed that Cronin has come up with a new take on the concept of The Mummy! Cronin confirmed, “This will be unlike any Mummy movie you ever laid eyeballs on before. I’m digging deep into the earth to raise something very ancient and very frightening.” The film is set to reach theatres on April 17, 2026, and while producer Jason Blum confirmed on social media that production had started back on March 24th, Cronin took to his own social media account to announce that production wrapped a few weeks ago. But we’re still getting cast news, as it was recently revealed that Hayat Kamille...

26 Years Later, 62%-Rated Cult Hit Brendan Fraser Says “Nearly” Killed Him Climbs Into AMC+ Top 10
Image
Brendan Fraser’s The Mummy just pulled off a resurrection of its own, hitting No. 8 on AMC+’s U.S. Top 10 list, 26 years after its release, per FlixPatrol. However, behind the film’s cult status lies a chilling memory: Fraser said it “nearly” killed him. During a now-infamous hanging scene, the rope around his neck was pulled too tight, cutting off his air and knocking him unconscious, via a THR report published in February 2023. So, what started as a crowd-pleasing adventure almost became a real tragedy.

Released in 1999, The Mummy wasn’t a critical darling (62% on Rotten Tomatoes), but fans embraced its mix of swashbuckling action and supernatural thrills. With its return to the charts, it’s clear the love hasn’t died, and Fraser’s comeback in the 2022 melodrama film The Whale has only reignited interest. For viewers discovering (or rewatching) it now, there’s a whole new layer...

I’m a sucker for single-location movies. I don’t care what the genre is; if it’s strictly limited to one location, I’m in. It could be a house, a train, a plane, a car, a spaceship, a bank, or a motel—I am locked in. Sidney Lumet’s 12 Angry Men is such a sweltering-hot drama that it keeps getting better with each rewatch. Krampus is a Christmas classic. Everybody Says I’m Fine is an underrated gem. And the list just goes on. However, I think the overall attitude towards this subgenre changed after the Covid-19 pandemic. Suddenly, what once seemed like a novel storytelling tool became our everyday reality. On top of that, with safety measures in place, shooting in one location became a very cost-effective method of making movies (or even entire shows). Hence, what once seemed like a cool gimmick started feeling lazy,...

Brendan Fraser Decodes Why Tom Cruise’s ‘The Mummy’ Failed Ahead of 2026 Reboot
Image
Brendan Fraser has finally spoken out about why Tom Cruise’s The Mummy crashed and burned, and it’s just in time because a brand new reboot is on the way with Lee Cronin at its helm. We still remember Fraser’s 1999 classic fondly because it was such a thrilling adventure.

But the 2017 reboot featuring Cruise was widely considered an infamous misfire. So, now as we gear up for the next chapter, it’s worth digging into why Fraser’s movie worked while the Top Gun star’s didn’t, and what the upcoming version is promising to bring us.

Brendan Fraser Weighs In On Why Tom Cruise’s The Mummy Flopped Tom Cruise in The Mummy (2017) | Credits: Universal Pictures

During a panel moderated by Collider, Brendan Fraser reunited with The Mummy cast members like John Hannah, Patricia Velasquez, and Oded Fehr. But during the nostalgic get-together, the infamous 2017 reboot...

Brendan Fraser reveals reason why Tom Cruise's Mummy movie buried itself
Brendan Fraser believes Tom Cruise's The Mummy failed because it lacked any fun.The 56-year-old actor played treasure hunter Rick O'Connell three times in Stephen Sommers' Mummy franchise which was a huge box office hit.Cruise's The Mummy was released in 2017 and was supposed to spawn a Dark Universe of connected films based on the Universal Classic Monsters but it was a critical and commercial failure and the idea to build a cinematic monster universe was scrapped.Fraser has now spoken out about why Cruise's The Mummy flopped, insisting it lacked any of the adventure or excitement that Sommers' films had.Speaking at Fan Expo Denver, Brendan said: "I know Tom Cruise tried to make his movie and it ain't easy! We all know how hard this movie is to make."With the exception of three [The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor], the thing with all of these films is that,...

La Momie (1999)
Brendan Fraser gives his two cents on why The Mummy reboot starring Tom Cruise failed
La Momie (1999)
Back in 2017, The Mummy attempted to launch the Dark Universe, a cinematic monster franchise that would eventually combine all the classic monsters. Despite the star power of Tom Cruise, it crashed and burned almost immediately, leaving all those future crossovers drifting away in the breeze. While speaking at Fan Expo Denver (via Collider), Brendan Fraser was asked what his version of The Mummy had over the reboot.

“I know Tom Cruise tried to make his movie and it ain’t easy! We all know how hard this movie is to make,” Fraser said. “With the exception of three [The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor], the thing with all of these films is that, at least it was fun, it was a thrill ride, and you wanted to do it again.“

Very true. While The Mummy and The Mummy Returns probably won’t ever appear on any prestigious Best Films of All Time list,...

Killer Buzz: The 'Texas Chainsaw Massacre Franchise' Bidding War
Image
Anatomy of a Revival Back in March, Deadline revealed that the intellectual property of ‘The Texas Chainsaw Massacre’ was officially back on the market. Verve- the agency holding the rights since 2017- has been quietly seeking creatives to lead what it’s calling a “multimedia strategy” for the franchise. Translation: not just films, but games, series, comics, and more. The franchise’s origin is almost as grimy as the film itself. Directed by Tobe Hooper and co-written with Kim Henkel, the original 1974 film was a guerrilla effort made for $140,000 in suffocating Texas heat, starring unknown actors, and produced by Exurbia Films. It was distributed by Bryanston Distributing Company- better known for launching the X-rated ‘Deep Throat’. ‘Chainsaw’ made $31 million at the box office, but its creators famously saw almost none of it. New Line Cinema acquired distribution rights in 1983 and oversaw the franchise’s uneasy expansion: nine films, two games,...

How American Remake Of Train To Busan Is Connected To Original 2016 Horror Movie Clarified By Producer
Image
James Wan, the producer of Train to Busan's spinoff, The Last Train to New York, has revealed how the film is connected to its predecessor. Released in 2016 at the Cannes Film Festival, the South Korean horror movie debuted to critical and audience acclaim. Due to its domestic and international success, two films were added to the Train to Busan franchise. Seoul Station, the animated prequel, was released the same year as the original movie, while Peninsula, which wasn't as well-received as its predecessors, debuted in 2020.

Train to Busan doesn't exactly end on a cliffhanger since Su-an and Seong-kyeong make it to Busan. However, there's always been interest in a continuation, which is why an American remake of the horror movie was set to be a new addition to the franchise. While speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Wan offered some details about the spinoff film and The Last Train to New York's production status.

James Wan, 48, Claims the 'M3GAN' Spin-Off Will Be "More Adult"
Image
With M3GAN 2.0 currently playing in theaters, the sequel to the 2022 hit, fans have high hopes for what comes next: the upcoming M3GAN spin-off, SOULM8TE. Scheduled for early next year, the follow-up was announced in development in June 2024, with Kate Dolan directing and rewriting the screenplay, based on a previous draft written by Rafael Jordan. Furthermore, M3GAN co-producer James Wan will return in the same capacity through his company Atomic Monster, and unsurprisingly, he has grand plans for SOULM8TE, which he recently shared with EW, teasing a more grown-up perspective.

In SOULM8TE, slated to release in theaters in January 2026, David Rysdahl plays a man who acquires an artificially intelligent android to cope with the loss of his recently deceased wife. He attempts to create a truly sentient partner but inadvertently turns a supposedly harmless love-bot into a deadly soulmate. Evil Dead Rise star Lily Sullivan portrays the android, while...

‘The Mummy Reboot’ Director’s Scary Update Hints It’s Going To Erase Tom Cruise’s Worst Failure
Image
The Mummy has risen probably 4 times (3 in Brendan Fraser’s movies and 1 in the Tom Cruise one); however, no one has beaten the prowess that Lord Imhotep possessed in the early Mummy movies.

Well, it seems that The Mummy is undergoing a reboot for a second time after Irish filmmaker Lee Cronin dropped an update about the upcoming reboot. The director shared on his social media a behind-the-scenes photo of the upcoming movie and revealed that the principal photography had “all wrapped up”.

Cronin also shared a statement when the production of the movie began, which has also given us hope that the upcoming movie will not be a disappointment (via Cbm).

This will be unlike any Mummy movie you ever laid eyeballs on before. I’m digging deep into the earth to raise something very ancient and very frightening.

Well, don’t keep us waiting around for more. Lee...

James Wan Keeps ‘The Last Train to New York’ on the Rails
Image
James Wan isn’t ready to let The Last Train to New York fade into the sidings. The producer, speaking exclusively to Entertainment Weekly, reaffirmed that the American take on South Korea’s hit Train to Busan remains very much alive, despite Warner Bros. shelving the title indefinitely. “That’s definitely still a passion project of ours,” Wan explained, noting that Atomic Monster has never abandoned hope of bringing the concept Stateside .

Train to Busan (2016)

Rather than a straight remake, Wan says the plan is for The Last Train to New York to run parallel to the original. “Creatively, it takes place in the same world as Train to Busan,” he told EW. “It’s happening epidemically around the world. So if Train to Busan is this particular slice of the story in South Korea, we want Train to New York to be the one set in America. Everything about it is really exciting.

James Wan is all set to take the M3GAN universe to a whole new direction. With M3GAN 2.0 charging in theaters this week, fans who love the killer AI doll won’t have to wait long because an R-rated spinoff titled SOULM8TE is already on the way (via Entertainment Weekly).

Kate Dolan directs the upcoming installment and will swap out the teen-friendly terror story for a much darker and sexier tone, something that might remind you of the 1987 erotic thriller titled Fatal Attraction. So, let’s look at more details about SOULM8TE and what Wan has to say about it!

SOULM8TE: a “Fatal Attraction with robots” set in the M3GAN universe
Amie Donald and Violet McGraw in M3GAN (2022)
Back in April, Blumhouse Productions spent some time in the spotlight during the Universal panel at the CinemaCon event in Las Vegas, and JoBlo’s own Chris Bumbray was there to witness an early preview of SOULM8TE, which is “a new movie in the M3GAN universe” that is set to reach theatres on January 2, 2026. Bumbray reported, “Seems similar to Companion. Centers on a sexbot that becomes so obsessed with her “owner” that she kills anyone close to him and goes on a murder spree. Looks more violent (and kinkier) than M3GAN but has the same humor. When a woman she’s about to kill says ‘Women aren’t supposed to be pitted against each other,’ she answers, ‘Don’t start that girl power shit with me.’” Now that M3GAN 2.0 is about to make its way out into the world, Entertainment Weekly was able to dig up some more information on SOULM8TE,...

James Wan Says ‘M3GAN’ Spin-Off ‘SOULM8TE’ is “Like ‘Fatal Attraction’ But with Robots”
Image
With M3GAN 2.0 hitting theaters, producer James Wan is looking ahead to the next stage of evolution: SOULM8TE, a spin-off movie that functions as an R-rated erotic thriller.

“M3GAN, obviously, dabbles in the PG-13 world, the younger demographic. We always felt like there might be a more adult story to tell, and that’s really what SOULM8TE is,” Wan tells EW. “SOULM8TE is basically set in the same AI world but seen through a more grown-up perspective, one that embraces all the great erotic thrillers from the ’90s. It’s like Fatal Attraction but with robots.”

Currently in post-production, the film follows a man who acquires an artificially intelligent android to cope with the loss of his recently deceased wife. He attempts to create a truly sentient partner but inadvertently turns a supposedly harmless love-bot into a deadly soulmate.

After Wolf Man Flop, Blumhouse's Next Horror Movie Based on an Iconic Monster Wraps Filming

Lee Cronin's The Mummy reboot is all wrapped up, just like its titular monster. The filmmaker has revealed that production has concluded on the hotly anticipated Blumhouse movie.

Cronin shared a picture of his director's chair on Instagram yesterday afternoon with the caption, "All wrapped up." While it's tough to surmise, it looks like the image was taken on the set for The Mummy, specifically the tomb where the titular monster might be found by Jack Reynor and Laia Costa's married couple, who reportedly will run afoul of supernaturally sinister forces throughout the reboot. Production on The Mummy began in Ireland and Spain in late March, meaning that the movie had a three-month shoot.

"I Have A Very Good Feeling": Blumhouse's The Mummy Reboot Hyped By Producer As Movie Wraps Filming
Image
Blumhouse Productions is doing a reboot of The Mummy, and the studio clearly feels confident in the upcoming film as it wraps production. The Mummy is one of the most famous horror franchises of all time, and Evil Dead Rise director Lee Cronin is the next visionary behind the franchise, as his film wrapped on June 25, 2025, and is set to release in theaters on April 17, 2026.

Speaking with Screen Rant's Liam Crowley at the M3GAN 2.0 red carpet premiere, Blumhouse Productions CEO Jason Blum was asked about the state of the studio's upcoming The Mummy reboot. This is one of Blumhouse's biggest movies of 2026, and Blum seemed eager to discuss it at the M3GAN 2.0 event.

When Crowley mentioned that The Mummy was "in production," Blum interjected by saying that the movie was "Wrapped. Finished! I haven't seen [the final cut], it's in editing, but I'm very excited about it. The vibes are very good.

When it comes to Apple Original Films sixth wide theatrical motion picture release, F1, you may want to get out of the way.

Sources tell us that the Warner Bros. released Brad Pitt PG-13 movie, has stateside pre-sales that have been heating up, gassed up from 88% certified fresh Rotten Tomatoes reviews. Currently, we hear that U.S./Canada presales for F1 are ahead of Gladiator 2 ($55M), way ahead of Pitt’s Bullet Train ($30M) and 4x that of pre-Covid 2019’s Ford v. Ferrari ($31.4M). While overseas, given the popularity of the sport, the movie was always intended to make bank for this $200M production from Top Gun: Maverick director Joseph Kosinski with $75M+, F1 looks to pick up speed in the states.
