21 Savage Stays Comfortably on Top of His Game on ‘American Dream’
Image
21 Savage’s third solo album, American Dream, begins with his mother, Heather Joseph, describing her family’s emigration from Britain to America during his childhood. “Every path that I walked was for my son,” she tells us. (Big Rube of Dungeon Family fame penned her introduction.) It’s a concept many others have used before, most famously by Jay-Z and his mother Gloria Carter on “December 4th” from 2003’s The Black Album.

But longtime fans worried about the Atlanta rapper veering into maudlin self-aggrandizement shouldn’t worry. “Memories in my head,...

The Worst Five Horror Films of 2011!
2011 brought a lot of great horror films. From Stake Land to A Lonely Place to Die, there were a lot of films to watch and enjoy. 2011 also served up a lot of misery as well. Here at 28Dla, this reviewer has learned to dodge a few bullets in the movie world. Admittedly, this reviewer skipped Fred Andrews' Creature in theatres and the latest forced production of the Hellraiser series, titled Hellraiser: Revelations was also missed thanks to some early reviews. However a few films slipped under the radar or were shipped to the 28Dla HQ with little warning or previous info'. These are some of those films.

Some of the elements that made a terrible film this year were the inability to create tension or to create interesting characters. Without tension or thrills what is a horror film? As well, not providing any backstory for a character is a...

Savage and a Sasquatch Shlocker: A Movie Review
*full disclosure: a screener of this film was provided by Mti Home Video.

Director/writer: Jordan Blum.

Writers: DJ Perry, Lynn Drzick, Nancy Gideon and Jordan Blum.

The creature feature was a genre that found some heights in the '60s. Now, in the 21st Century, this genre seems to often be a rehash of material from the past. Also, unbelievably, there have been dozens of features created which have centered on the Bigfoot aka Sasquatch. From the Legend of Bigfoot (1977) to Sasquatch (2009), there have been Sasquatch-ploitation films which try to entertain, but sometimes fail. The latest addition to the genre is Mti Home Video's Savage, starring Martin Kove (The Karate Kid) and Tony Becker ("Tour of Duty"). It is like an '80s reunion! However, there is little originality here and no reasonable argument to explain the supposed origin of Bigfoot. Instead, Savage is another entry for Worst...

Savage: Movie Review
Review by Michael Pickle, MoreHorror.com

If you like a good monster movie with genuine indie appeal then you're likely to enjoy the upcoming release of the lively Bigfoot film Savage from the burgeoning low budget genre production company Fearmakers.

A limited budget goes a long way when you have a clever and imaginative script, a spirited and eclectic cast and impressive directing from first time feature film director Jordan Blum. It's obvious on only a handful of scenes that this is an ultra low budget feature.

I quickly fell in love with the many interesting characters and their carefully woven stories that were just intricate enough to still leave room for the many subtle nuances as well as heart-racing and well filmed action sequences and gory kills. On many scenes I couldn't tell whether the gore and kills were used sparingly because of lack of budget or for dramatic effect and character development.

Dread Central's Final Girls: Lisa Wilcox
It takes a special final girl to take on Freddy Krueger twice and live to tell about it. Alice Johnson was exactly that girl. Brought to life by actress Lisa Wilcox in the fourth and fifth installments of the Nightmare on Elm Street franchise, Alice was the only final girl in the series to survive the killer clutches of Robert Englund.

Her character was passed the torch by Dream Warriors' final girl, Kristen Parker (Tuesday Knight, who took over the role from Patricia Arquette), when she finally fell victim to Freddy. Part Four became the journey of Alice to find her inner strength as well as take on the strengths of her fallen friends in order to overcome Freddy and help make Elm Street a safe place to dream once again.

In honor of her place in final girl history, Dread Central recently caught up with Wilcox to speak to her about Alice,...

"Savage" first one sheet
As a boy young actor/Filmmaker to-be DJ Perry (Dean Teaster's "Ghost Town", "An Ordinary Killer") often enjoyed family trips to a hunting cabin in Harrison, Michigan with cousins and a favorite Uncle Jerry Jones. Mr. Jones was a favorite because he was a master storyteller. His humorous stories were a wonderful blend of fact and fiction. It was around this deer camp that fantastic stories such as the sightings of .Cloie the Ghost. and .Sasquashis. were often told. It is also good to note that many of these reported sightings might have happened while taking out .empties. in the wee hours. While still in high school, DJ Perry further entertained his friends with the .Sasquashis and the Jones. comics and later .The Hunt for Bigfoot. comedy shorts that would be among his first...

Lisa Wilcox Talks Imago and Savage
Iconic horror villain Freddy Krueger had himself quite a few "final girls" over the last 25 years. One of our personal favorites had always been Alice (played by Lisa Wilcox in Parts 4 and 5). In fact, Alice is the one of the very few to survive the deadly grasp of Elm Street's most nefarious inhabitant. So, where's Alice been since she took on Freddy?

The actress had taken a reprieve from the acting business for some time, but Wilcox is definitely back on the scene and keeping herself quite busy these days. She recently worked on director Robert Hall's web series "Fear Clinic" as well as in two feature films: Savage and Imago.

While chatting with Wilcox about how much fun it was to work with Robert Englund again, this time without all his make-up, Heather Wixson also asked her about her two other upcoming projects.

Below we have two short video...
