Thanks to the sheer number of holiday films Hallmark releases every year, the network has built up quite a stable of artists. Some of these actors appear in just a few Christmas movies between other projects, while others have essentially built a career around their work with Hallmark. And while it's easy to look at the ads for Hallmark holiday movies and see a variety of plug-and-play, generic brunettes, each of the channel's leading men has their own niche and strengths that they bring to their performances. 

Some are best known for playing the reluctant prince of an unknown European principality who ends up romancing a small-town American girl, while others are better suited to play ruggedly handsome Christmas tree farmers or small business owners who woo career-oriented gals from the big city with their rural charms. There's no doubt how entertainment can affect us. It can be moving and thrilling and take us places we never imagined we go.

It can also bring us together through shared experiences.

Sometimes, it does a little of everything, as I discovered during a recent interview with Corey Sevier about his Christmas in July movie airing tonight, Take Me Back for Christmas.

This is a movie very close to Sevier's heart, as his wife Kate Pragnell wrote the script, and he directed the film.

He also costars with Vanessa Lengies, who starred alongside him in another Hallmark movie, Heart of the Holidays, and whom he had known since he was ten, having met when he starred on Lassie.

Love is in the air for Arrow vet Katie Cassidy, who will make her Hallmark Channel debut in A Royal Christmas Crush as part of the network’s annual Christmas in July programming event.

In the movie, airing Saturday, July 8 at 8/7c, “Ava (Cassidy) accepts the opportunity of a lifetime to work at the Royal Ice Hotel which leads her to a surprise whirlwind romance with the most important guest of all, the Royal Prince (Chesapeake Shores‘ Stephen Huszar) himself,” per the official synopsis.
