Steve Martin Fires Back At Miriam Margolyes’ Claim He Was ‘Horrid’ To Her On Set: ‘I Have To Object’
Steve Martin is responding to accusations from one-time co-star Miriam Magoyles that he was “horrid” to her while filming the musical comedy “Little Shop of Horrors”.
In the 1986 film, Martin portrayed sadistic dentist Orin Scrivello, while Margoyles played his dental assistant.
“But when it is implied that I harmed her or was in some way careless about doing the stunts, I have to object.”
In her new memoir, Oh Miriam! Stories From an Extraordinary Life , the British actress details being battered for real while shooting a musical number in which his character punches his assistant in the face, and then slams a door in her face.
“I was hit all day by doors opening in my face; repeatedly punched, slapped and knocked down by an unlovely and unapologetic Steve Martin — perhaps he was Method acting — and came home grumpy with a splitting headache,” she wrote (as reported by HuffPost UK...

"The Kensei", the long awaited fifth installment of Jon F. Merz's Lawson Vampire Series, about a hardboiled cynical elite spy/commando named Lawson who is also a member of a race of living vampires that have evolved in secret alongside humanity for millennia, recently hit the market; and coinciding with its release, the first four books in the series are now available on Kindle.
Since the older books, which were originally published in 2002 and 2003, have been out of print for a while, new cover art was in order. And gracing the artwork for "The Fixer", "The Invoker", "The Destructor", and "The Syndicate" is none other than Brandon Stumpf (interview here), an up-and-coming actor on the indie horror scene who's in a few projects we're keeping our eyes on, especially Kevin MacDonald's Beg.
As for the Lawson series, here's a brief history lesson courtesy of the official Jon F. Merz...

Indie director Kevin MacDonald (Beg, The Witching Hour) has joined the Alexius Omnimedia/Penobscot Films production of scribe Brian Pickard’s horror comedy Slayers! Melinda Chilton is attached to star in the film.
Billed as “The Undead vs. The Brain Dead,” Slayers! is
prepping for a late summer start in Maine. The film's synopsis follows:
Four friends battle the forces of evil night after night from the comfort of their living room. Instead of being rugged warriors of the night, they are dice-tossing legends in their own mind. But when their small town is threatened by a very real vampire, the friends band together to save one of their own. They charge into the night to take the evil head on ... badly.
It's a fight to the death between good and evil.
Along with Chilton (pictured, who is also attached to the recently announced Watch Island, penned by Pickard), the cast includes Brandon Stumpf (Beg,...

Brandon Stumpf may not be a household name to horror fans, but versatility has been the key to Stumpf's success in mainstream and independent films, and once filmmakers see him in his upcoming role as Steve Ryan in Kevin MacDonald's Beg, it's likely we'll start seeing him in other genre projects. This writer recently had the pleasure of interviewing the actor, who is also a full-time art teacher.
Fred Grandinetti: Where were you were born and raised?
Brandon Stumpf: I was born and raised in Nashua, New Hampshire, with my father, mother, sister, and brother.
Fg: Did you perform in any theatrical productions while attending school?
Bs: The only theatre I participated in was my high school's Senior Class play. We did South Pacific, and I was an ensemble player. I had two singing lines, which shocks me to this day because I hardly consider myself a singer.
