Chris Evans Reportedly Eyed For Extraction Sequel
It doesn’t matter what the Russo brothers accomplish for the rest of their careers, the siblings will always be known for their time as part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which is hardly surprising when you consider their list of achievements.

Not only have they directed more entries in the franchise than anyone else, but they’re also the only filmmakers to have ever helmed three movies that made over a billion dollars at the box office including both of the McU’s biggest commercial hits, two of the five highest-grossing titles in history and achieved what many thought impossible by knocking James Cameron’s Avatar off the top spot with Avengers: Endgame.

The duo may have claimed that they’re done with the McU, unless of course they get offered the chance to helm the long-rumored Secret Wars adaptation, but Joe and Anthony haven’t been shy in...

Tom Holland to reunite with the Russo Bros’ heist movie ‘Cherry’
The young Spider-Man actor, Tom Holland has entered into negotiations to reunite with Anthony and Joe Russo on their next directorial project ‘Cherry’.

Based on the 2018 novel by Nico Walker, the story follows a former Iraq War Army medic who turned to robbing banks to pay for his increasing medical bills and cope with his Ptsd. The book mirrors the true story of its author, Walker, who himself was an army medic who was caught and convicted for bank robbery. Walker is currently serving out the last two years of his 11-year prison sentence.

The novel has been described as “Jesus’ Son meets Reservoir Dogs” in a breakneck-paced debut novel about love, war, bank robberies, and heroin. The synopsis for the novel reads;

“As a medic in Iraq, he is unprepared for the realities that await him. He and his fellow soldiers huff computer duster, abuse painkillers, and watch porn.

Tom Holland to Star in the Russo Brothers’ Next Movie ‘Cherry’
Joe and Anthony Russo's Avengers: Endgame, a surefire box office hit when it arrives on April 26th, will be the culmination of the brothers' work in the McU so far, but it'll also open up other possibilities for their creative expression. Enter: Cherry, a true-life adaptation of author Nico Walker's semi-autobiographical novel of the same name. It tells of an Iraq War veteran who comes home only to struggle with Ptsd and opioid addiction. In order to fund said addiction, he begins robbing banks. Though the narrator and protagonist of the story are unnamed, the …

Tom Holland Reteams With Russo Brothers for ‘Cherry’ (Exclusive)
Tom Holland
With the culmination of the “Avengers” storyline on the horizon, Spider-Man actor Tom Holland is in talks to star in the Russo brothers’ “Cherry,” which is expected to be the directing duo’s first feature non-Marvel gig.

“Avengers: Endgame” helmers Joe and Anthony Russo will direct from a script by Jessica Goldberg, who adapted the novel “Exit West” for the brothers’ studio Agbo and was creator and Ep of Hulu series “The Path.”

Agbo acquired the rights to Nico Walker’s book, “Cherry,” in August, with plans to shoot over the summer.

“Cherry” parallels the true life story of the author, a former Army medic who returned from Iraq with extreme undiagnosed Ptsd, fell into opioid addiction and began robbing banks. Walker was caught and convicted in 2011 and is scheduled to be released in 2020.

The brothers will produce along with Agbo’s Mike Larocca.

Agbo has made its presence...

Tom Holland to Reteam With Russo Bros. for 'Cherry'
Tom Holland
Tom Holland is in talks to star in the Russo brothers' adaptation of Nico Walker's Cherry.

The New York Times best-seller is told from the perspective of a former Army medic who becomes addicted to opioids after returning home with Ptsd and begins robbing banks, which eventually lands him in jail.

While the author insists it is not a memoir, the story closely resembles the life of Walker, who is currently serving an 11-year sentence in a federal prison in Kentucky after pleading guilty in 2012 to robbing 11 banks around Cleveland. He is due to be released in 2020. ...

The Russo Brothers’ Agbo Banner Options Rights to Short Film ‘Kiddo’ for Feature Adaptation (Exclusive)
Anthony Russo
Joe and Anthony Russo’s Agbo has optioned the rights to the short film “Kiddo” with plans to adapt it into a full-length feature, sources tell Variety.

VFX expert Tito Fernandes, who directed the original short, will return to direct the full-length version with fellow former VFX production coordinator Shannon Triplett penning the script.

The original short is set in the future on an alien planet and is described as an epic coming-of-age sci-fi adventure film. It tracks Kim, an orphan on a mission to avenge her father’s death, with the help of her loyal pet and giant robot. The short, which has been compared to “District 9” and “Star Wars: The Force Awakens,” quickly made waves across Hollywood.

Fernandes cut his teeth working on visual effects teams on movies such as “Interstellar,” “The Force Awakens,” and “The Dark Knight” and is now looking to try his hand at directing.

ABC Buys Fashion Drama ‘Threads’ From ‘Cruel Intentions’ Lindsey Rosin
ABC has put in development Threads, a drama from writer Lindsey Rosin (NBC’s Cruel Intentions), Random Hill and ABC Studios.

Written by Rosin, Threads centers around aspiring designer Jessica Lee, who finds herself at the center of the biggest battle for power in the fashion world when the legendary founder of the iconic brand — where she currently works as an assistant — is forced to step down, setting off a cutthroat, high-stakes search for his replacement. Caught between her loyalty and her ambition, Jessica must navigate sex, secrets and succession as the beauty of fashion gets ugly.

Rosin executive produces with Random Hill. ABC Studios is the studio.

ABC for years has been looking to get a fashion-themed drama series on the air, going back to the 2011-12 season when it ordered the fashion industry clan soap Americana to pilot. This season, the network is developing Threads as well as...

Rina Sawayama
Song You Need to Know: Rina Sawayama, ‘Cherry’
Rina Sawayama
Autumn is closing in rapidly, but thankfully we have Rina Sawayama’s midtempo pop jam “Cherry” to remind us what Summer feels like. Japanese-British singer/model Sawayama made a splash last year with the release of her self-titled debut Ep Rina, but it’s nothing in comparison to tidal wave she could be set to summon with this tune.

On “Cherry,” Sawayama teams back up with her frequent collaborator Clarence Clarity to create a smooth and bright slice of R&B-pop. The single pulls from a number of Nineties influences — everything from the spoken “Hello?...

Daniel Radcliffe in Jungle (2017)
British funk outfit Jungle unveiled an intoxicating new song, “Beat 54 (All Good Now),” from their upcoming album, For Ever, out September 14th via Xl Recordings.

The track boasts a shuffling mid-tempo groove that anchors a cinematic blend of synths and strings that swim effortlessly beneath Jungle’s euphoric group vocals, led by the band’s core duo, Josh Lloyd-Watson and Tom McFarland, as well as singer Rudi Salmon. “And I never had enough for you,” they sing, “But you said someone/ Would come and replace me/ How can you replace me?...

Army Medic, Addict, Bank Robber, Novelist: How Nico Walker Wrote New Book ‘Cherry’
Laura Allen, Kyle Gallner, and Britt Robertson in Cherry (2010)
Before this summer, Nicholas “Nico” Walker was known as an Iraq War veteran, a bank robber and a heroin addict. Now, he can add “novelist” to his resumé, care of his debut novel Cherry, out last month. But you won’t see him on a book tour in the near future; since 2013, he’s been stationary, serving 11 years in a federal prison in Ashland, Kentucky for bank robbery.

Becoming a writer wasn’t a part of Walker’s plan. Then again, neither was going to jail. During 2005 and 2006, Walker served...

The Russo Bros. Will Direct Cherry After They Are Done with Avengers 4
Joe and Anthony Russo have been locked in directing Marvel films for the past few years. But after Avengers 4 they are going to move on to something a little different. Something that doesn't deal with superpowers.

They have picked up the rights to a book called Cherry, which comes from first-time author Nico Walker. The Russo's production company Arbo bought the rights for a cool million after a bidding war, and it will be the next film they direct.

The book is said to parallel the true life story of the author, who was a former Army medic who returned from Iraq with extreme undiagnosed Ptsd and fell into opioid addiction and began robbing banks. Walker ended up getting caught in 2011 and will be released in 2020.

The script for Cherry will be written by Jessica Goldberg (The Path) and here's a more in-depth description from Deadline:

The book has been...

The Russo brothers, the prolific directing duo behind Avengers: Infinity War, have lined up their next directing gig. Joe Russo and Anthony Russo are now in an exclusive negotiation for the rights to the novel Cherry, which was only recently published and comes from first-time author Nico Walker. Despite that, the book was subject to something of a bidding war. The Russos came out on top, on behalf of their new production company Agbo.

Joe Russo and Anthony Russo are currently in the process of putting the finishing touches on Avengers 4, which was shot back-to-back with Infinity War and is set for release next summer. After that, they'll be free to tackle something else and they've set their sights on Cherry. Amy Adams, Patricia Clarkson, and Eliza Scanlen in Sharp Objects (2018)
‘Sharp Objects’ Review: Episode 6 Repeats the Killer Clue One More Time — You Need to be ‘Looking at the Women’
Amy Adams, Patricia Clarkson, and Eliza Scanlen in Sharp Objects (2018)
[Editor’s Note: The following review contains spoilers for “Sharp Objects” Episode 6, “Cherry.”]

With only two episodes left in the series, the “Sharp Objects” investigative trio of Camille Preaker (Amy Adams), Richard “Kansas City” Willis (Chris Messina), and Chief Bill Vickery (Matt Craven) hasn’t produced more than one or two bonafide suspects — and that’s just fine. It’s better, even, than the alternative. While last year’s sizzling HBO limited series bounced between potential killers as giddily as Reese Witherspoon dropped expletives, this year’s premium offering isn’t about the mystery; it’s about the women.

Or maybe, it’s about both.

Episode 6, “Cherry,” dwells on issues of identity and control. Camille listened to her former fellow cheerleaders talk about women being “made” to have children and unlocking a “part of your heart” that’s only accessible after giving birth. She heard her sister, Amma (Eliza Scanlen), explain how it’s easy to get boys to...

UK Funk Outfit Jungle Preview New LP ‘For Ever’ With Two Songs
Laura Allen, Kyle Gallner, and Britt Robertson in Cherry (2010)
British funk collective Jungle unveiled two new songs, “Heavy, California” and “Cherry” from their forthcoming second album, For Ever, out September 14th via Xl Recordings.

The two tracks find Jungle exploring different edges of the neo-soul spectrum. On “Heavy, California,” the group crafts an uptempo dance tune awash in sparkling synths and falsetto vocals that flit about a percolating disco groove.

“Cherry” is a crafty mid-tempo breakup tune filled with an array of mesmerizing instrumental flourishes that twist and bubble beneath the song’s defiant refrain, “You’re never gonna...

IFC Films Picks Up Porn-Drama 'Cherry' With James Franco; Jon Kasdan's Sundance Hit 'The First Time' Finds Home At Sony Pictures
The game plan of most indie filmmakers is to get their film in a festival and acquire distribution and it looks like the things have worked out well for young filmmakers Stephen Elliott and Jon Kasdan (son of Lawrence) on their latest efforts behind the camera.

Firstly, IFC Films has acquired distribution rights to "Cherry," the writing and directorial debut of Elliott which stars Ashley Hinshaw, Dev Patel, Heather Graham, Lily Taylor and James Franco. The story follows an 18-year-old high schooler (Hinshaw) who explores the world of strip clubs and porn after running off to San Francisco with her best friend (Patel).

The film should bring some insight into the industry with Elliott co-wroting the script with pornstar/Nyu-student Lorelei Lee, who also directs for Kink.com -- coincidentally, co-star Franco himself is making a documentary about the famed adult site. Our Berlin review of the film noted that...

NBC’s Finally ‘Awake’ in The Mourning: Interview With Laura Allen & Dylan Minnette
March 1 saw the debut of NBC’s most impressive drama pilots in recent years. Jason Issacs stars and produces Awake, as Michael Britten, a detective who suffered a tragic car accident with his wife, Hanna (Laura Allen, Terriers) and son, Rex (Dylan Minnette, Let Me In). When Michael wakes from the accident he mourns losing his son with his inflexible psychologist Dr. John Lee (B.D. Wong) and Hannah, but when he goes to sleep, Michael wakes in another reality where Hannah died and he must cope with son and another psychologist Dr. Judith Evans (Cherry Jones) who is more open-minded to his experiences. Both worlds seem so real and Michael cannot determine which one if any is real.

That’s not the only strange occurrence; clues in one reality help him solve different cases in the other. Each psychologist assures him that his or her reality is the real...

Jason Isaacs: June 6
'Awake' Stars Dish On Their Compelling New Show
Jason Isaacs: June 6
"Awake" is the most compelling new drama on TV. It's also the most ambitious.

Following a horrible accident, Detective Michael Britten (Jason Isaacs) finds himself living two very fractured realities: In one, his wife Hanna (Laura Allen) died and he's left to raise his son as a single father, and in the other, his son Rex (Dylan Minnette) died, and he and his wife are left childless. He has different police partners in each reality (Steve Harris and Wilmer Valderrama), and two different therapists (B.D. Wong and Cherry Jones), both trying to convince him that their reality is the real one.

So which one is real and which is a dream? (And before you say you've figured it out -- that ever-popular theory that he himself is dead, a ghost or in a coma -- I've been promised that those are not options.) As the audience, do we even want to know?...

New interviews with Alessandra Torresani, new Husbands clips, James Marsters in Hawaii Five-0 and Toronto screenings
Let's start with Husbands. The show premieres tomorrow at HusbandstheSeries.com.

Teresa Jusino has a report from the L.A. screening and Q&A yesterday at Tor.com, and several really great interviews with Alessandra Torresani and Jane Espenson showed up since yesterday.

Alessandra talked to Digital Chick TV:

Daryn: So, what is your role on Husbands?

Alessandra: Let me tell you a little bit about this fabulous show! I play the larger than life, crazy, fun, silly, old school comedian Haley! She is Cheeks’ Bff for life and can’t live without him. She is beyond co-dependent of him and literally can’t pick out a pair of shoes without his approval. Although at times she’s a little too nuts, it’s all in good fun! And hey, just another excuse for a cocktail. She’s traumatized that Cheeks didn’t have her at the wedding, because of...

Interview: Cherry's Kyle Gallner
Laura Allen, Kyle Gallner, and Britt Robertson in Cherry (2010)
Odds are, you know Kyle Gallner for one of the many high profile horror films he’s appeared in over the past few years. There was The Hunting in Connecticut, Jennifer’s Body and the highly anticipated reboot, Nightmare on Elm Street, but his success in the genre and the prominence of these films doesn’t mean these are the only types of films Gallner has to offer. In fact, he’s got quite a number of non-horror films on the way, one of which hits theaters this weekend, Cherry. Cherry stars Gallner as Aaron, a somewhat sheltered guy starting his first year at a prestigious college. He may not be as socially and [...]...

SXSW Party in L.A.

Cherry Movie Review
Laura Allen, Kyle Gallner, and Britt Robertson in Cherry (2010)
Title: Cherry Directed By: Jeffrey Fine Starring: Kyle Gallner, Laura Allen, Brittany Robertson, Esai Morales, D.C. Pierson, Matt Walsh, Zosia Mamet When you’re doused in big budget, effect-heavy features week after week, it winds up being the simplest productions that really blow you away. Writer-director Jeffrey Fine’s newest film, Cherry, is just about as minimalistic as they come, but the results are huge. Cherry achieves a degree of empathy, entertainment and pleasure that most grander scale films never even come close to earning. Aaron (Kyle Gallner) always plays by his parents’ rules. From the day he was born, they bred him to become an Ivy League student and the time [...]...

Edward Norton, Tim Blake Nelson on their film, “Leaves Of Grass”
Edward Norton playing twins in a movie that’s directed by Tim Blake Nelson? How could that not be great?

And guess what? Leaves Of Grass is great! Edward Norton plays twins Brady and Bill. Brady is a small-time pot grower and Bill is an Ivy league professor. Tim Blake Nelson who also wrote the film plays Brady’s redneck friend Bolger.

I saw the premiere at SXSW and the movie is funny, violent and at times, you have no idea where the story is going to take you, which for me, makes the film.

This was another roundtable interview (my question is here) and the interview ran longer than most, so I’ve cut it down a bit. If you want the whole interview, you can listen/download the whole conversation above or click here for iTunes.

On a side note: I’ve been interviewing people for a while...

Caprica executive producers on where the show is headed
Syfy has posted a new exclusive clip (embedded below) from the Caprica Season 1.0 DVD. In it, executive producers Jane Espenson, Kevin Murphy and David Eick talk about where the show is headed in the second half of the season. It’s a short clip, but it might bring up some of the old controversies from the Battlestar Galactica series finale. There is also a brief glimpse of Sam and Tamara Adama in V world in one of the upcoming episodes.

Make sure you also check out the new behind the scenes clip at AirlockAlpha.com.

On other fronts, Alessandra Torresani tweeted that she will be on Attack of the Show on October 5, Sasha Roiz is doing a conference call with the press today, and Starry Mag is talking to Magda Apanowicz.

Where to catch the cast this fall
August 15 has come and gone with no news about the actors' contracts getting picked up for a second season or any word on what Syfy is thinking these days, but with the cast appearing in about a gazillion other things this fall, the hiatus blues should be getting easier.

If you're in New York some time between September and January, you can catch a short film, Untitled, with Eric Stoltz starring, at MoMA (see article.)

No release date has been set yet for his last feature, Fort McCoy (pic left), but IMDb still says 2010, so fingers crossed.

And this is still unconfirmed, but an extras casting director tweeted yesterday that our daddy Graystone will direct one of the new episodes of Glee. If true, the episode should air in the first half of the season. The show returns on Tuesday, Sept. 21 at 8 on Fox.

Alessandra Torresani has been cast in Playback,...

Kyle Gallner, star of the new “A Nightmare On Elm Street”, talks about his new film “Cherry”
Kyle Gallner is busy!

Not only is he starring in the new film Cherry but he’s got 4 films already finished – one of them is the new version of A Nightmare On Elm Street.

You’ve probably seen him in Jennifer’s Body or as the young Flash in Smallville, CSI:ny or even Veronica Mars.

I interviewed Kyle at SXSW for, Cherry. Its is about a college student named Aaron, Kyle’s character. He gets involved with an older woman who’s gone back to school to straighten her life out. Things start to get complicated when Aaron meets the woman’s daughter, Beth (Brittany Robertson) who starts to fall for him.

Kyle is great in the film and I can’t wait to see him in his upcoming films. We talk about how he got his start in Philadelphia, his first big job and working with some great actors.

Life Unexpected‘s Brittany Robertson on her new film, Cherry
If you’re a fan of the CW show, Life Unexpected, then you already know Brittany Robertson.

I interviewed her at SXSW for her new film, Cherry. The film is about a college student named Aaron. He gets involved with an older woman who has gone back to school to straighten her life out. Things start to get complicated when he meets the woman’s daughter, Beth, who begins to develop feelings for him.

Brittany plays Beth and she is perfect in the role. She’s a terrific actress who is definitely doing things right. Check out the interview where she talks about how she got her start, her love of acting and how she goes to her acting coach 4 times a week. Yes, 4 times! How many actors do you know who can honestly say that?

As always, listening to the interview is always better!

SXSW Interview: Patrick Wilson and Judy Greer on their new film, “Barry Munday”
Patrick Wilson and Judy Greer star in the hilarious new film, Barry Munday.

I got a chance to see the film and interview them at SXSW and both were so much fun. This was by far the most fun I’ve had at an interview yet! If you get a chance to listen to the interview, you really should – you’ll see (uh, hear) what I mean.

The film is about a guy who wakes up in the hospital after being attacked in a movie theater, only to realize that he is missing his… his testicles. To make things even worse, he finds out that he’s knocked up a woman he can’t even remember hooking up with.

Patrick plays Barry and he is the worlds greatest douchbag – Barry, not Patrick. Judy plays Ginger; Patrick described her in the interview as a “crabapple”. I said she was socially retarded...

SXSW 2010 Interview: Writer/Director Jeffrey Fine and Actors Kyle Gallner and Brittany Robertson (Cherry)
The independent movie Cherry had its premier at this year’s SXSW and I had the opportunity to speak with the writer/director Jeffrey Fine, as well as the two young leads, Kyle Gallner and Brittany Robertson, about making the film, which was inspired by some real-life events in Jeff’s life.

SXSW Audience Award Winner, “Brotherhood”: Exclusive Interview With the Star And Director
The audience award at this years SXSW was the film, Brotherhood. It’s about a college student on his last night as a pledge for a fraternity. He finds himself blindfolded in the back of a van and made to rob a convenience store for his final initiation. Then, things go horribly wrong. (Of course, right?)

It’s a really good film and I was happy to interview the star, Jon Foster, and co-writer/director, Will Canon.

Jon plays Frank, the senior frat brother. He’s currently starring opposite Jenna Elfman in the CBS show Accidentally On Purpose but this role is 1,000 miles away from that character.

And for Will Canon, this is his first feature film. He’s had several award-winning short films that have been seen on Showtime and shown at Sundance.

You cast the film, did you have people in mind already?

Will: When we first started,...

Laura Allen, Kyle Gallner, and Britt Robertson in Cherry (2010)
The Kick-Ass Ladies of SXSW: Britt Robertson
Laura Allen, Kyle Gallner, and Britt Robertson in Cherry (2010)
As the pierced and volatile teenager stealing scenes in Jeffrey Fine's SXSW drama Cherry, 19-year-old Britt Robertson gives one of the finest performances yet in a fast-developing career that's seen her evolve from child actor to mature young actress in the span of a few years. One of two women who come crashing into the life of college freshman Aaron (Kyle Gallner), Robertson's Beth is part Juno, part Hot Topic Lolita, an emotionally guarded girl who's lived through more in her 14 years of life than any teen should.

Robertson herself couldn't be farther from the confused, capricious Goth teen she plays in Cherry, which is based in part on a pair of women writer-director Fine knew as a young man. After drawing notice in films like Dan in Real Life, CBS's "Swingtown," and her new CW show, "Life Unexpected," the fresh-faced and uncommonly poised actress seems determined to carve...

The Duplass Brothers: “Honest and real and really unpredictable is what we’re really looking for”
Jay and Mark Duplass (The Duplass Brothers) are hot right now. They have Cyrus (starring John C. Reilly, Jonah Hill & Marisa Tomei) and are currently in pre-production on Jeff Who Lives At Home (with Ed Helms and Jason Segel).

To be honest, I’d never seen one of their films till Cyrus. I’d heard about them, especially once I got to Austin for SXSW, and was excited to see the film. The film is both hilarious and touching and you will love seeing John C. Reilly and Jonah Hill in different roles than you’re familiar seeing them in.

I got a chance to talk with them in a roundtable interview so most of the questions aren’t mine. I did ask some casting questions regarding John and Jonah. And check out the audio (above or on iTunes) portion for the whole discussion.

SXSW Film Day 6 | Don Simpson - SXSW Film Festival 2010
The days are surely blowing by fast. Day six of SXSW Film has already come and gone. Next thing I know the festival will be over and I will be back at my day job! But I guess as the saying goes: time flies when you're having fun. And I am having fun. Despite all the frustrations this year - primarily not getting into the films that I want to see - I think 2010 has been one of the strongest SXSW Film festivals that I have attended to date (this being my 13th year in attendance). This is also by far the most badges that I have ever seen at SXSW Film. I suspect this has something to do with the ever-growing amount of Gold Badges (which offers combined access to SXSW Film and Interactive). So either Interactive is becoming more popular and they are crossing over into the Film...

As the two become closer, Aaron meets Linda's daughter, 14-year-old Beth (Britt Robertson), who in turn falls for Aaron.

You'll need that context to truly grasp the awkward tension that Aaron must be feeling as events unfold in the exclusive clip below.

Jim Caviezel and Lennie James on The Prisoner, nervousness & working in cramped taxis
I interviewed Jim Caviezel and Lennie James, the stars of AMC’s The Prisoner at this years Comic Con and they were two of the nicest, friendliest guys.

We talked about their characters, why they chose to take on this recreation, if they still get nervous before a scene and more.

I hadn’t had a chance to see the show yet, but from the trailers and talking with them, I cant wait to see it.

The Prisoner premieres this Sunday on AMC.

Tell us a little bit about your character.

Lennie James: I play 147, who’s the local taxi driver for the village. And he is kind of the first friend that Jim’s character, Number 6, makes when he arrives in the village. And the moment when we first meet him, he is a totally content villager. He has a wife that he loves and a daughter that he adores,...

Headshot Photographer Lesley Bohm: “I focus on personality and who you are rather than just surface”
Lesley Bohm has been my go to photographer for a while now. Yes, I’ve cheated on her with other photographers (it wasn’t my fault! An old manager “suggested” I go elsewhere) but I always go back. Why? Simply because she produces headshots that get results. You can check out one of my headshots here.

She was nice enough to take time out of her busy day to talk to me about how she got her start, how she differs from other photographers and more. Check it out!

So, I guess we’ll begin with the obvious question, how did you get started?

I got started way back when I first came to L.A., I went to art school, and I always knew I liked shooting people rather than things. And so I always liked to reach into the nitty gritty and figure out how people ticked. And...

Kyle Gallner moves to 'A Nightmare on Elm Street'
Kyle Gallner, who actually pulled off a rather decent performance in the completely unnecessary horror thriller "The Haunting in Connecticut," will join the cast of New Line Cinema's "A Nightmare on Elm Street" reboot.

As I'm sure you've read or heard by now, Jackie Earle Haley, who recently played Rorschach in Zack Snyder's "Watchmen" will play bad boy Freddy Krueger, the famous killer who slips into the dreams of teenagers.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Gallner will portray a teen who hosts a high school podcast and ends up being one of Krueger's victims. The film will be directed by Samuel Bayer ("Fiasco Heights")

Gallner's credits also include "CSI: NY," "Veronica Mars" and "The Shield." He will also soon be seen in "Cherry" and the Diabo Cody-scripted horror flick "Jennifer's Body."...

Kyle Gallner joins 'Nightmare' relaunch
Kyle Gallner
Kyle Gallner has been cast as the soon-to-be-terrorized lead male teen in New Line's relaunch of "A Nightmare on Elm Street."

Jackie Earle Haley already is cast as slasher Freddy Krueger in the pic being directed by Samuel Bayer and produced by Platinum Dunes. Michael Bay, Andrew Form and Brad Fuller are producing.

Gallner will play Quentin, an indie-style guy who runs the high school's podcast, "Insomnia Radio." He is part of the group of teens that falls prey to Krueger, haunting the dreams of those that lived on the street where he was murdered.

Gallner's approximate role in the original 1984 film was played by Johnny Depp.

Gallner, who recurred on "Veronica Mars" and played the Flash/Bart Allen in "Smallville," recently starred in "A Haunting in Connecticut" and toplines the upcoming indie "Cherry." The actor, repped by Gersh and Management 360, also appears in Fox Atomic's "Jennifer's Body," written...
