Netflix reveals The Gentlemen season 2 release window
Image
It sounds like fans are going to be waiting even longer than originally expected for The Gentlemen season 2. Netflix just shared a major update about the latest season of The Gentlemen from creator Guy Ritchie.

During Netflix's Q2 earnings call, it was revealed that The Gentlemen season 2 is coming to Netflix sometime in 2026. Ted Sarandos rattled off a list of shows coming back in 2026, including Avatar: The Last Airbender, 3 Body Problem, Outer Banks, One Piece, and many more.

We didn't hear exactly when the series will premiere, but it's probably not going to be one of the first shows released next year.

Theo James is returning for The Gentlemen season 2, which just started filming in the spring of 2025. Netflix officially confirmed production started on May 28, but it's likely that production started even earlier.

We're expecting production on The Gentlemen season 2 to last throughout the summer and potentially even into the fall.

Freida Pinto to Star in Netflix Drama Series Unaccustomed Earth, Based on Jhumpa Lahiri’s Acclaimed Stories
Freida Pinto at an event for Les Immortels (2011)
Netflix has announced its latest high-profile drama project, Unaccustomed Earth, with acclaimed actress Freida Pinto set to lead the cast as Parul Chaudhury. The eight-episode series is based on the beloved short story collection by Pulitzer Prize-winning author Jhumpa Lahiri and will bring to life a sweeping narrative set within an elite Indian-American community in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

Described as an “epic, soapy, and culturally vibrant” drama, Unaccustomed Earth explores themes of love, longing, and identity. At its heart is a scandalous romance: a devoted wife rekindles a relationship with a long-lost love, igniting secrets and shifting loyalties in a close-knit immigrant community.

The series comes from showrunner and writer Madhuri Shekar, with direction by Ritesh Batra (The Lunchbox), who will helm the first two episodes and also serve as executive producer. Renowned producer John Wells joins the creative team, alongside a roster of executive producers that includes Lahiri herself, Nisha Ganatra,...

Ted Sarandos Has 37 Reasons Why Netflix’s Programming Mojo Will Continue Through 2026
Image
Ted Sarandos has always had an uncanny grasp of titles and stars, conjuring them in his pre-internet days as a video store clerk and dropping them frequently during his 25-year run at Netflix.

Even by those standards, however, the Co-CEO may have set a personal record on Thursday, machine-gunning out the names of no fewer than 37 series, films and events soon to stream Netflix. The spree during a 3-minute stretch of the company’s second-quarter earnings call coincided with the company disclosing viewership for thousands of series and movies in its semi-annual “data dump.”

Unlike other companies’ calls, Netflix’s are livestreamed on YouTube. (Watch a replay here.) Questions submitted by analysts are read by Spencer Wang, call moderator and VP of finance, investor relations and corporate development.

J.P. Morgan analyst Doug Anmuth wondered about the company recently having outsized hits like the third season of Squid Game. “How do...

3 Body Problem will return earlier than expected
Image
Good news, 3 Body Problem fans! We've just learned that season 2 of the hit Netflix sci-fi series will return earlier than expected! During the recent Netflix Q2 2025 earnings call, Netflix co-ceo Ted Sarandos name-dropped the show when detailing the upcoming slate expected for the latter half of 2025 and 2026.

You can watch the full call embedded below. Sarandos begins by detailing the 2025-2026 slate around the 10:20 mark and then mentions 3 Body Problem specifically at around 12:20, in between discussig the return of Emmy-winning series Beef and other Netflix staples like Outer Banks and Love is Blind.

This comes as a surprise, because earlier reports suggested that 3 Body Problem would not return until 2027, and now it sounds like it will be back significantly sooner.

What's on Netflix previously reported that seasons 2 and 3 would be filmed back to back. Based on confirmation they received from Netflix, the filming for seasons...

Teaser poster for Supergirl warns you to “look out”
Image
Superman finally lands the Dcu on movie screens, and James Gunn’s new shared universe wastes no time in building its world. The Justice Gang is already present and helping Superman whenever they feel he needs a hand. Nathan Fillion is slated to reprise his role as Green Lantern Guy Gardner in the upcoming Lanterns series and the cousin of Kal-El, Kara Zor-El, is flying not far behind the man of steel for her own spin-off into the Dcu. Early its development, Superman was originally said to be titled Superman: Legacy. Following suit, it was also recently confirmed by Gunn himself that Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow will be undergoing the Sean Parker-revision-treatment and simply go by Supergirl (“It’s cleaner.”)

Variety‘s social media page recently passed along a new teaser poster for Supergirl. In it, the Kryptonian is caught red-handed and sipping a slushie after spray-painting over the tagline for Gunn’s Superman,...

2025 Emmys outrage: Why your favorite genre shows like ‘Outlander,’ ‘Interview With the Vampire,’ and ‘Squid Game’ were snubbed
Image
The 2025 Emmy nominations present a curious case for genre television.

While sci-fi, horror, and fantasy hits like Severance, The Last of Us, and Andor received multiple nominations on Tuesday, many fan-favorite outside-the-box programs — think Outlander, Interview With the Vampire, Squid Game, The Wheel of Time, and Dark Winds — were snubbed in major categories by the Television Academy, resulting in social media outrage. So, what gives?

First, a bit of a backstory. Prior to 2005, Emmy-winning dramas almost always took place in police stations, hospitals, or courtrooms — yawn. But Lost changed all of that. ABC's science-fiction hit won Best Drama Series 20 years ago and opened the door for the fantastic to be taken seriously by the Television Academy. Game of Thrones continued the voters' newfound love affair with genre fare when it won Best Drama Series four times between 2015 and 2019. GoT was ineligible in 2017, which is when the dystopian The Handmaid's Tale prevailed.

8 canceled sci-fi shows we’re still mad about
Image
It seems like we don't get as many complex and interesting science fiction shows as we used to, like creators are apprehensive about taking bold swings with potentially complex concepts (just look at how watered down 3 Body Problem wound up being on Netflix). And who can blame them when many of this past decade's best and most promising sci-fi shows have resulted in early cancellations?

To be fair, Apple TV+ is still trying to provide ample sci-fi series between Severance, Foundation, and Silo, but it would be nice if there were more high-profile options between the various streamers. It made me start thinking about the sci-fi shows of the past and the ones I still think about all the time, wishing they hadn't been canceled so soon.

Brad Pitt’s Forgotten Epic Surges On Streaming As F1 Movie Dominates Box Office — Details Inside!
Image
This Brad Pitt War Film Is Trending On Ott Amid F1’s Continued Success (Photo Credit – Instagram)

Brad Pitt is back into the streaming spotlight, not because of his latest Formula 1 blockbuster F1, but for his two-decade-old war epic that has quietly stormed onto streaming platforms. Long before he raced cars on screen, Pitt clashed swords in the dusty battlegrounds of ancient Greece alongside Orlando Bloom and Eric Bana. The 2004 film Troy, based loosely on Homer’s The Iliad, follows the violent unraveling of the Trojan War and doesn’t hold back on the blood, betrayal, and ego that fuel the conflict.

Troy Is Now One Of The Most Streamed Movies Worldwide

Troy, now streaming on AMC+ in the US and HBO Max in countries like Thailand, the Dominican Republic, and Ukraine, has suddenly found a new audience, per Collider. It might not have wowed critics back in the...

Pitt stars alongside Orlando Bloom and Eric Bana in Troy, the 2004 adaptation of Homer’s The Iliad, which tells the brutal story of the Trojan War. Troy is currently streaming on AMC+ in America and on HBO Max globally, where it’s one of the most popular movies on the service in several countries such as Thailand, the Dominican Republic, and Ukraine. Despite poor scores of 53% from critics and 74% from audiences on Rotten Tomatoes, Troy grossed $497 million at the box office, turning a profit off its massive $175 million budget.

Troy came four years after Ridley Scott and Russell Crowe teamed up for Gladiator, the 2000 hit historical epic that won five Oscars,...

Image
Game of Thrones creators David Benioff and D. B. Weiss once again proved their extraordinary talent with the development of none other than the award-winning 3 Body Problem. This sci-fi banger debuted on Netflix on March 21, 2024, to massive success that surprisingly didn't earn it an immediate renewal. Nevertheless, it was renewed for two more seasons later in May, with production set to happen back-to-back this month. There’s even more! The Batman Part II: Does Eiza González Have A Role In The Sequel? James Gunn Reacts To Script Completion
Image
After what seemed like an eternity, the script for the highly anticipated sequel to The Batman is finally complete. As the internet celebrated, fans have noticed something rather intriguing.

Actress Eiza González, known for her roles in 3 Body Problem and Alita: Battle Angel, recently liked an Instagram post shared by Matt Reeves featuring the completed script.

Interestingly, Reeves appears to be following González on Instagram as well. A closer look at his account reveals that while he follows numerous design-related profiles, the only actors he follows are those who starred in The Batman.

González was once a strong contender for the role of Selina Kyle in The Batman, a part that eventually went to Zoë Kravitz. She has openly shared that she screen tested for the role and was quite disappointed when she didn’t get the part.

Could Reeves have been impressed by her talent and is now...

'Weapons': New Trailer for Zach Cregger's Haunting Horror Film Released
Image
Warner Bros. has released a nearly two-minute trailer for Zach Cregger's latest horror film Weapons, teasing the newest nightmare from the Barbarian director. The footage debuted at the end of a "one-time-only" livestream on MaybrookMissing.com (the movie's in-universe website), offering a closer look at the chilling mystery at the center of the story, involving the disappearance of a group of children who voluntarily left their homes one night at precisely 2:17 a.m. — as evidenced in surveillance footage recorded on the date they went missing.

While the first trailer for Weaponsprovided a broad overview of the puzzling premise, the latest video (shared below) dials up the creepiness to 11 and unleashes a bunch of new footage to give prospective audiences a better idea of what to expect from Cregger's second live-action feature film. Why Netflix Canceled Marco Polo
Image
Imagine if you will, we're back in the year 2014. We are deep into the Obama presidency, where the idea of Donald Trump running for President of the United States is little more than a late-night talk show punchline. And now Netflix, the DVD distribution service, is experimenting with the crazy idea of putting movies and TV ... on the internet?

Using the existing libraries from Hollywood studios, Netflix created a "new media" that quickly branched out from streaming existing content to reviving fan favorite shows like "Arrested Development," proving that the streaming service wasn't limited to just distributing existing content, but could also finance and premiere new series as well.

But it's one thing to revive a canceled show, in which all the primary creative work has already been completed. It's another to create an entirely original series. With the one-two punch of David Fincher's political drama "House of Cards...

James Gunn confirms Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow title change
David Harewood, Chyler Leigh, Jesse Rath, Azie Tesfai, Melissa Benoist, Katie McGrath, and Nicole Maines in Supergirl (2015)
The upcoming Supergirl movie was originally announced as Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, but fans have noticed that James Gunn has recently been referring to the project simply as Supergirl on social media. In an interview with Rolling Stone, Gunn confirmed the title change, saying, “I think it’s just called Supergirl now.“

Interestingly, this isn’t the first title shift under Gunn’s watch—his Superman film also dropped its subtitle, going from Superman: Legacy to just Superman.

When asked if he was on set during the production of Supergirl, Gunn said, “I mean at the very beginning, but I’ve been pretty busy, as you might imagine. I was really involved at the script stage, but then [director] Craig [Gillespie] has just been such a great partner. He’s just been doing his thing. You never know how something cuts together, but right now it looks amazing. It’s really cool stuff.

Game of Thrones star Liam Cunningham shades Conor McGregor, who backs down
Image
Earlier this month, Game of Thrones veteran Liam Cunningham (Davos Seaworth) set sail with activists like Greta Thunberg aboard the Madleen. The ship was bound for the Gaza Strip, intending to distribute aid to people living through the ongoing crisis there.

The activists also wanted to use their celebrity to bring attention to the crisis. They got what they wanted when agents from Israel, which is at war with Hamas in Gaza, intercepted the ship. Thunberg has since been sent out of the country.

By the time the Madleen was intercepted, Cunningham was no longer on it. He sounded off on X, though, writing, "The Freedom flotilla was attacked during the night. The ship was rammed, boarded and the 12 volunteers kidnapped. This is more reprehensible behaviour from the genocidal regime in Tel Aviv."

That inspired Mma fighter and Irish presidential hopeful Conor McGregor to weigh in. "I thought you were on this boat Liamo,...

Zach Cregger Says ‘Weapons’ Is a Fun Horror Movie, Not a “Morose Slog”
Image
The subject matter of Zach Cregger’s (Barbarian) new horror movie Weapons may be dark, centered on a group of young children who vanish into the darkness at 2:17am one night, but Cregger promises in a new with Empire Online that his goal wasn’t to bum us out with a bleak horror experience. Rather, he wants to make sure audiences are having fun too.

“[It’s] a fun movie,” Cregger tells the outlet. “It’s funny, it’s scary, it’s inviting. It’s not a grim, morose slog. And yet the story it tells is really fucked up.”

The filmmaker also teases that Weapons is “a lot bigger and weirder than Barbarian,” with the film’s secrets under lock and key until it’s released in theaters on August 8, 2025.

Check out the previously released official trailer below.

Eiza González Almost Auditioned Her Way Into Star Wars Without Even Knowing It: ““I Didn’t Know What I Was Doing”
Image
Before she became known for her roles in 3 Body Problem and Alita: Battle Angel, Eiza González had a surprising brush with one of the biggest movie franchises of all time, Star Wars. But back then, she had no idea what she was walking into.

Eiza recently shared the story on Jesse Tyler Ferguson’s podcast Dinner’s On Me. She explained that years ago, before she had a team in the U.S., no agent, no manager, no publicist, she went to an audition for a film she knew nothing about.

She read for the role several times, maybe three or four, and then got asked to sign something called a non-disclosure agreement, which she had never even heard of at the time.

“I Have No Idea What I’m Auditioning For”: Eiza González Confirms She Auditioned for the Star Wars Sequel Trilogy
Image
She's been to outer space in 3 Body Problem and the future in Alita: Battle Angel, but Eiza Gonzálezalmost ended up in a galaxy far, far away. However, she didn't realize what she was auditioning for until she met J.J. Abramsin person. The actor talked about her experience auditioning for a mystery movie that turned out to be Star Wars: The Force Awakens with Jesse Tyler Ferguson on his Dinner's On Me podcast.

At the time unknown outside of Mexico and not having an agent, publicist, or manager, González went into the audition not knowing what the film was. She read for the part three or four times before signing a non-disclosure agreement (which she had never heard of) and meeting with the director. She walked in and met Abrams, and suddenly realized that she was auditioning for the then-unreleased Star Wars sequel trilogy. She had never actually watched Star Wars,...

5 Actresses Who Were Almost Cast As Star Trek's Tasha Yar Before Denise Crosby
Image
On the original casting call for "Star Trek: the Next Generation," authored in the late months of 1986, the Enterprise's security chief was to be a Latina character named Macha Hernandez, said to be modeled after the character Vasquez (Jenette Goldstein) from James Cameron's then-recent film "Aliens." Indeed, there was a brief attempt to hire Goldstein for the role, until writer D.C. Fontana pointed out that she wasn't actually Latina. The character was renamed Tanya as a result, then eventually Tasha. The new Tasha Yar was given an intriguing backstory. She was a survivor of an ambitious Earth colony that had, through greed and mismanagement, completely collapsed. She lived among lawlessness, rampant sexual abuse, and poverty before escaping and joining Starfleet.

Denise Crosby was ultimately cast as Tasha Yar, and the show's producers gave the character a position on the bridge, ensuring that Yar would always be on camera. Crosby,...

Rumor: Game of Thrones composer Ramin Djwadi not on board for new prequel show
Image
Ramin Djawadi was a successful composer before he crafted the opening theme song for Game of Thrones, but that thing really put him on the map. Since then his career has exploded. In addition to composing many iconic songs played on Game of Thrones, he also worked on shows like Westworld, Eternals, 3 Body Problem, and the Game of Thrones prequel show House of the Dragon. And why not? The person who composed this banger should be rewarded:

That opening theme song is so memorable that HBO used it again for House of the Dragon; the third season of that show will air sometime next year. Soon, HBO will premiere a new Game of Thrones prequel series: A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, based on George R.R. Martin's Tales of Dunk and Egg novellas. And it sounds like this will be the first Game of Thrones show not to benefit from Djawadi's talents.

‘Game of Thrones’ Creators Confess to the Ultimate Tavern Snub: “It was a mistake”
Image
Game of Thrones, despite its worldwide popularity, is highly infamous for how it ended. While a section of fans outright cancels the show’s existence after Season 6, another section can list a series of problems that plagued its conclusion.

When the creators, David Benioff and D. B. Weiss, sat for an interview during the release of 3 Body Problem, they were asked if they would like to change anything about the show. Although we can list a myriad of plot points that took GoT downhill in its last season, the creator duo responded with a change that nobody expected to hear: Mord the Jailer’s story. Yes, you heard it right!

4 TV Shows Written by ‘Game of Thrones’ Creators A and B
Image
David Benioff and D. B. Weiss created a show so good that it changed lives (figuratively). Game of Thrones is by far one of the greatest series ever created, and yes, we are ignoring the ending; we will not be talking about that today. But let’s dive into the shows Benioff and Weiss created after the GoT craze.

Book adaptations can go wrong very easily. Either writers change too much or find it difficult to deal with many characters. But George R. R. Martin’s incredible book series, A Song of Ice and Fire, was done justice by Benioff and Weiss. Regardless of the critics and opinions of fans, we all can agree that there is no other noir-fantasy show like Game of Thrones, and there never will be.

The iconic duo has continued working together because, no joke, they create awesome content. Without further ado, let’s take...

Good and bad news for fans of 3 Body Problem on Netflix
Image
Last year, Netflix debuted the first season of 3 Body Problem, based on the Remembrance of Earth's Past trilogy by Liu Cixin. This heady sci-fi story is about what happens when humanity makes first contact with an extraterrestrial species...and finds they don't have our best interests at heart. Plus their technology is light years beyond ours. Now they're heading for Earth, and humanity has a few generations to prepare. Can we avoid extinction?

The first season took a minute to rev up, but got on a good sci-fi roll by the end. Netflix renewed the show for a second and third season, which will end the series. The upcoming second season will adapt The Dark Forest, the second book in Liu's trilogy and the one that the cast and crew seem most excited about. "The story gets really wild in the best possible way," co-showrunner Dan Weiss told...

‘Weapons’ Official Trailer – Where Have All the Children Gone?
Image
Last night, at 2:17am, every child from Mrs. Gandy’s class woke up, got out of bed, went downstairs, opened the front door, walked into the dark, and never came back. Watch the official trailer for Barbarian director Zach Cregger’s Weapons, in theaters on August 8, 2025.

Here’s the brand new official synopsis from New Line Cinema: “When all but one child from the same class mysteriously vanish on the same night at exactly the same time, a community is left questioning who or what is behind their disappearance.”

Much like Barbarian, Cregger’s new movie is cloaked in a web of darkness, with even this trailer refusing to spoil pretty much anything about the movie. All we know is the basic gist of the storyline, with the trailer teasing that it’s only the beginning of this nightmarish mystery.

“That mystery is going to propel you through...

‘3 Body Problem’ Season 2 Receives Otherworldly Production Update
Image
In early 2024, a brand-new science fiction series crashed onto Netflix and quickly dominated the platform’s charts for several weeks. We’re talking, of course, about 3 Body Problem. Despite its impressive success, a rare feat for the sci-fi genre, the show's renewal faced a surprising delay. Eventually, Netflix confirmed that 3 Body Problem would return to complete its adaptation of Cixin Liu's acclaimed novel trilogy Remembrance of Earth's Past across two final seasons. Since then, fans have eagerly awaited news about when they can dive back into the epic story of Earth's existential threat, but updates have been scarce. However, a new report has now revealed when production on the next season is set to begin.

According to a new report filed with the Hungarian National Film Office, filming for Seasons 2 and 3 will happen back-to-back. It's news that will excite fans as it should slim the possibility of...

‘Weapons’ – New Images Preview Horror Epic That’s “Bigger & Weirder” Than ‘Barbarian’
Image
Zach Cregger’s (Barbarian) next movie Weapons has been described as a “horror epic” for a while now, and it’s an ambitious branding that the filmmaker is fully embracing in a new chat with Entertainment Weekly this week. Inspired by Paul Thomas Anderson’s Magnolia, of all things, Weapons is said to be “more ambitious in every way” than Cregger’s feature debut.

The plot of the mysterious Weapons, which will be released in theaters on August 8, 2025? Entertainment Weekly details, “The moment the clocks turned 2:17 a.m. on a seemingly random Wednesday morning, 17 children in the fictional Pennsylvania town of Maybrook woke from their beds, exited their homes, and ran into the night. They never came back.”

“That mystery is going to propel you through at least half of the movie, but that is not the movie,” Cregger teases. “The movie will fork and change and reinvent and go in new places.

Game Of Thrones' Creators Had Two Favorite Deaths On The HBO Series
Image
This article contains a discussion of sexual assault.

A lot of people die on "Game of Thrones." No, really; the Washington Post actually tracked all of the show's deaths and figured out that 6,887 characters, both named and unnamed, perish throughout the HBO series (which is based on George R.R. Martin's equally bloody novel series "A Song of Ice and Fire"). Apparently, showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss played favorites just a bit when it came to their 8-season series that massacred heroes and villains in equal measure. In a March 2024 interview with The Hollywood Reporter to promote their Netflix series "3 Body Problem," Benioff and Weiss said there were two characters they just loved killing: Jack Gleeson's King Joffrey Baratheon and Iwan Rheon's dastardly bastard-turned-heir Ramsay Bolton.

"With Thrones, there was so much killing of good guys," Weiss said when asked about his favorite on-screen kills, "and...
