Anwar Says: Bollywood has been working on dysfunctional family since last few years and some products are excellent like Dil Dhadkne Do and Piku but some couldn't reach upto the expectations, in spite of the top star cast and Kaun Banegi Shikharwati is the latest addition. A dramedy or an emotional drama, the writer and Co- director Ananya Banerjee tries to find out till the end .
Naseer Saheb as delusional King , who wears track suits and funny night suits, tries to hook to his comical role throughout but looked interesting in patches. The character becomes repetitive and that makes this ten episodes long series unnecessarily stretched. Raghubir Yadav as King's aide played a pivotal role . Lara Dutta played her character with ease and looked real heir of Shikharwati . Soha Ali Khan got a tailor made role for her . Kritika Kamra also did well besides looking gorgeous.
Why do the producers not stick to six , half an hour episodes and tell the story, probably channel owners pay them for more episodes. This could have been better if trimmed properly. The hue and cry started because of Wealth Tax demand for 2005 to 2010 , a law which no longer exists since 2002 , a big technical lapse . Still watchable. 6 out of 10.

The concept of the series is good, though it's hardly engaging. Naseeruddin Shah disappoints while Soha Ali takes the cake. With unfunny dialogues and poorly timed sequence, the stoy gets unnecessarily stretched. The only good thing is when games are on, rest of the times you can just nap.
Good for kids to show them how to love and support each other.
Good for kids to show them how to love and support each other.
Raja Mrityunjay (Naseeruddin Shah) is an aged royal who has lost touch with his subjects, his four daughters have deserted him and his estate owes the exchequer Rs. 32 crores in taxes that he hasn't paid over the years. He is virtually a pauper except for the mansion he lives in, and is absolutely adamant that he won't turn it into a hotel for the sake of revenues. The king, along with his manager Mishraji (Raghuvir Yadav), hatches an outlandish plan to fake the former's terminal illness and invites his daughter's back to the estate to compete among themselves so that a suitable successor to the throne can be found. The four daughters, Devyani (Lara Dutta), Gayatri (Soha Ali Khan), Kamini (Kritika Kamra) and Uma (Anya Singh), each having a compelling reason to return to the dysfunctional family home, agree to givecitva shot at inheriting a Rs. 200 crore property that can ease their own financial woes.
The premise is lame enough to evoke any excitement, but the lure of the talented starcast keeps one hoping that the story will create some magic. On quite the contrary, Kaun Banegi Shikharwati goes from here until the very end as a banal, slapstick comedy that fails to amuse. The princesses have to indulge in a competition called Navrasa, translating into 9 different rounds of skill exhibition that turns the series into an unexciting, repetitive and ridiculous storytelling. The idea behind all this is for the king to reunite his children through mutual love and affection, but he has absolutely no idea how they will change the fortunes of the beleaguered estate. Add to all this confusion is an undercover tax officer impersonating the prince of neighbouring Mewad and living in the mansion with the hope of discovering undeclared wealth of the royal family.
It's a bizarre story and concept. Soon after the family reunion we realise that the original objective of the Raja is not likely to be fulfilled through his daughters and therefore, the narrative goes off into a hundred different directions resulting in shallow character sketches and lack of sympathy for either situation or any of the protagonists. The multitude of talent is largely wasted, although Lara Dutta and Kritika Kamra do light upna few sequences, the former with gravitas and the latter with her clueless nature. Naseeruddin Shah is grossly over the top and appears haggard. The only sensible execution comes from Raghuvir Yadav as the King's confidante and assistant, but then you wonder why has he been serving the estate so loyally when there's nothing left in it.

It's one of those series that is beautiful and pleasant in all the frames. Throughout the series the aforementioned four sisters compete against each other in games supposedly designed around 'navras' (nine basic emotions) which mostly appear uninteresting and poorly scripted.
The movie has two acting stalwarts - Naseeruddin Shah and Raghubir Yadav, out of which the latter has definitely scored above the former!
Amongst the sisters, Soha Ali Khan has performed the best.

I really liked the series... concept is new and different. Light family series unlike other cheap shows that's filled with vulgarity and can't be seen with family...

I thought it's a applause production which makes good series but this was out of mind
The story is familiar to PARIWAR series but here there is a king which has four daughters and they are away from him so he does all the gimmicks to call them back
The starcast is very good like Lara Naseerbhai soha kritika but are of no use..the humour is very silly and the series is in length of 10 episodes..the king has to give away his 200 crore property to who wins stupid games like cooking dressing etc and in addition the series contains songs sad emotions characters are fighting without any reasons
Who on earth has that patience to see 10 episodes of mindless kingdom.

It's boring. Yes. It's a boring tv series. The problem is that, it looks like someone who used to write slow and oldy script has written this. Anything is happening. After 3 episodes you will be soo bored that you will need therapy.
Such good actors.. Much worse story and screenplay.

This web series is utter slow and boring. Generally web series are made in such a way that once one episode is over and you just cant wait to start the next episode. But with this web series it is other way around, you watch it and the episode feels like never ending. Do yourself a favor and skip it.
Unlike other recent series, it's really light but at the same time, very interesting and intriguing. And the main thing...there's no use of abusive words. It's a very ththing to watch. The whole crew has done a fantastic job!!
Give it a try with your family!!

Unable to laugh at all. Daughters are disrespecting their own father in public and the director thinks it is humourous!!!
The four sisters play games to win Rs 200 crore wealth as I heritance. The games are very stupid. There are two kids, belonging to Soha, both are weird and very unrealistic. The elder, who is girl, does not show any expression an Denver smiles. The younger, the boy, never speaks.

An era where families especially the women folk are shown as home makers talking about cooker & chana in stove or pathetic love stories of snatching each other's husbands, this series is definitely a stone breaker.
Here the king doesn't have four sons but daughters & they all come forward to fight for their home. All are shown independent, strong & fierce.
Comic scenes, costumes, dialogues & acting is undoubtedly good! It's a beautiful story.

Its an amazing written story ,good direction , great acting from lara d , kritika k ,anya s , soha k, varun t, cyrus s , anurag s but as always naseerudin s and raghubir y did outstanding job . It was comedy , a bit emotional and spoofy series . Beautiful locations and sets ,nothing looked fake as it was shot in a real palace in rajasthan i guess . Music was really catchy nothing repetetive all 10 episodes are catchy ,good dialouges , comedic punches , jokes were funny . This web series can relate to every generation from a childhood guy to an old uncle. It teaches you alot of things about how to be happy ,how to be patient , good parenting , good relations , not to be greedy not only for money but to get into a high post in respective work.

Each and every actor & actress has done fantastic job. Funny and suspenseful web series. Background Music was awesome.
Only one thing bothered me.. I feel that this web series could have been made in 7 or 8 episodes only. Why has makers dragged it for 10 episodes which I didn't like at all.

I love the series. I hardly watch Indian TV series but I love this one. The story and direction is too good and doesn't feel like a cliched Bollywood rom-com serial. The jokes are healthy and funny, literally funny and there are some nuances captured beautifully in the series. All characters, starting from Naseer Sir to Lara Dutta, Soha Ali Khan, Kritika Kamra and all others have brilliantly done their jobs. By the way, Kritika Kamra's character is way better and less corny than what Kareen Kapoor did in Kabhi Kushi Kabhi Gham. Just love the series and the cast. WATCH IT!
