The Broadcasters Foundation of America (Bfoa) have selected Brian Lawlor to receive its Golden Mic Award this year.

Lawlor, the President of the E. W. Scripps Company’s Scripps Sports division, will be honored at the Bfoa’s annual black tie fundraiser event on Monday, March 10 at the Plaza Hotel in New York City.

Lawlor is a member of the Bfoa’s board who is credited with steering the national programming strategy at Scripps, including the launches of “Right This Minute” and “The List,” before taking on his current role as the top executive at Scripps Sports. While at Scripps Sports, Lawlor has effectuated deals involving the National Women’s Soccer League and the Women’s National Basketball Association, giving both sports franchises greater reach through over-the-air and streaming television.

The news of Meek's death was announced on his Instagram account. Including an image of Meek, the post stated, "Our hearts are broken to share that Hudson Meek went home to be with Jesus tonight. His 16 years on this earth were far too short, but he accomplished so much and significantly impacted everyone he met. Specific details regarding a Celebration of Hudson’s Life to be held on December 28, as well as how to contribute to a scholarship in Hudson’s memory at Vestavia Hills High School in lieu of flowers, will follow. Please pray for Hudson’s family and friends as we all process this sudden and tragic loss."

Hudson Meek, a teen actor who appeared in Edgar Wright’s film “Baby Driver,” died on Dec. 22 in Alabama after falling from a moving vehicle. He was 16.

“Our hearts are broken to share that Hudson Meek went home to be with Jesus tonight,” read a post on his Instagram account. “His 16 years on this earth were far too short, but he accomplished so much and significantly impacted everyone he met.”

The accident occurred Thursday night in Vestavia Hills, Alabama, according to local news site Al.com. Meek “sustained blunt force injuries after falling to the road from a moving vehicle,” Chief Deputy Coroner Bill Yates told Al.com. Meek was taken to a hospital and died Saturday night. Vestavia Hills police are investigating his death.

Artem Vasilyev, the Russian producer and CEO of Metrafilms and its animation arm Studio Metrafilms, has launched the new label Lazy Sunday, based in Ireland and dedicated to developing and producing both animation and live-action projects for international audiences.

Dissident Iranian director Mohsen Makhmalbaf and his filmmaker children Maysam and Hana, alongside producer of TV series Have I Got News For You Jimmy Mulville, have called on the UK government to resettle Afghanistan’s creatives.

This came after Hana Makhmalbaf made a documentary feature about the plight of Afghani creatives titled The List, which played at several festivals.

Nicholas Pryor, the busy character actor who portrayed Tom Cruise’s father in Risky Business and Kathleen Robertson’s dad on Beverly Hills, 90210 during a career that spanned seven decades, has died. He was 89.

Pryor died Monday of cancer at his home in Wilmington, North Carolina, his wife, actress Christine Belford, told The Hollywood Reporter.

In a note to be delivered to THR after his death, he wrote: “Nicholas Pryor was enormously grateful to have been, for nearly 70 years, a working actor.”

Exclusive: Euphoria producer A24 has turned to a series of self-published, TikTok-famous novels for its latest project out of the UK, Deadline understands.

The independent studio has snapped up the rights to Jessa Hastings’ Magnolia Parks universe books, which went viral on TikTok and have been described as Gossip Girl in high society London.

The Magnolia Parks project is understood to be a reasonable way into development, with A24 close to signing off partnerships for the series. The company declined to comment.

Firmly in A24’s zeitgeisty wheelhouse, the first novel follows the story of beautiful but neurotic London socialite Magnolia Parks and Bj Ballentine, the bad-boy lothario who broke her heart.

Hastings’ second book, Daisy Haites, expands on Magnolia’s world by following fellow London “It Girl” Haites, the heiress to a criminal empire who is desperately pursuing a normal life.

The third and fourth books return to Parks and Haites’ perspectives respectively.

Some beloved TV shows have lost viewers and suffered a decline in quality due to poorly received episodes and unresolved storylines.
