The script for this movie was originally picked up by New Line Cinema, with the intention to re-write it as a sequel to Seven (1995), tentatively titled "Ei8ht". The main character was supposed to be Se7en (1995)'s Detective William Somerset (Morgan Freeman), who had acquired psychic powers. This idea was dropped after Se7en (1995) director David Fincher reacted negatively to the idea, after which it was produced as a stand-alone movie.

Goofs
When Agent Cowles first meets John Clancy, the case files she puts down on his kitchen surface are seen in one side shot but have disappeared by the next shot.

Weird but Watchable

"Solace" is a weird but watchable supernatural thriller. The good director and cast and the original storyline are the best this film can offer. Unfortunately the gloomy screenplay is messy and destroys the expectations of this forgettable movie. My vote is six.
