He saluted the Veneto Film Commission as well as local production company 360 Degrees Film for their work in location scouting with series director Andrew Fleming and helping to secure Venice as a spot as a location.

NBC has opted not to renewed the “Suits” spinoff series for an additional season, leading the Stephen Amell-led show to end after just one season. The news comes before “Suits LA” airs its Season 1 finale on May 18.

Before ‘Suits LA,’ Bryan Greenberg Played a Different Kind of Ambitious Character in This HBO Drama
Image
Before Bryan Greenberg became the ambitious lawyer Rick Dodson in Suits LA, he was hustling through the streets of New York in the HBO series How To Make It in America. The two-season show, which aired from 2010 to 2011, followed two young entrepreneurs, Ben (Greenberg) and his best friend Cam (Victor Rasuk), as they pursued their dreams of having their own fashion brand. The series showcased the grit, sacrifice and perseverance required to make a dream a reality, all while embracing the highs and lows of living in New York City. Though short-lived, How To Make It in Americaresonated with a young audience and continues to do so today, suggesting the show may have been slightly ahead of its time.

Image
Five years since it aired its final episodes, Suits is back. Well, sort of. Suits LAis set in the same universe, but will feature a brand-new crew of attorneys led by Arrow star Stephen Amell. However, it will still feature some distinct connections to the acclaimed original series, including Harvey Specter (Gabriel Macht). A few months after it was confirmed the fan-favorite lawyer would return in the upcoming spinoff, a new promo for Suits LA has blown the lid on his appearance, which seems to be more significant than a brief cameo.

In a new promo for Suits LA, Amell's lead character, Ted Black, dials up his old buddy, who happens to be Harvey Specter. The teaser then cuts to Gabriel Macht as Harvey in the back of a car, seemingly on his way to visit the firm across the country in Los Angeles. Fortunately, his appearance is not just a cameo,...

Suits: LA Star Says the Show Still Isn't Greenlit but the 'Script Is Great'
Image
We spoke to actor Bryan Greenberg as his new conspiracy thriller Emperor of Ocean Park debuts on MGM+. It's a juicy legal series set in modern-day America, which sees the former star of HBO's How to Make It in America brushing shoulders with Oscar winner Forest Whitaker, who headlines their new show as fictional Judge Oliver Garland. Greenberg has kept busy with another hot-topic project: a Suits spinoff that will also star Stephen Amell, who we interviewed earlier this year.

"I'm definitely not ready to talk about that until we officially get greenlit, but [making the pilot that NBC ordered] was an amazing experience," Greenberg told MovieWeb about Suits: LA. "I love to work with Stephen, I love the whole cast, the crew, and I think the script's great, and I'm hearing good things. But there's still a long time, and I don't want to go there before if there's nowhere to go to.

‘The Family Plan’ Director Simon Cellan Jones Talks Making Back-to-Back Mark Wahlberg Movies
Image
After a decorated career in television, The Family Plan director Simon Cellan Jones has returned to feature films for the first time in two-plus decades.

Cellan Jones’ feature career began with 2000’s Some Voices, a British drama starring a still-emerging Daniel Craig, and he soon followed that up with 2002’s The One and Only, before spending two decades in television, helming episodes of How to Make It in America, Treme, Jessica Jones, Boardwalk Empire, Ballers and Shooter. Four of the aforementioned shows were executive produced by Mark Wahlberg, and when the actor needed a filmmaker to direct March 2024’s Arthur the King during the pandemic, he gave Cellan Jones a second go-round in the feature space. The shoot went well, so well that after Cellan Jones locked picture, he quickly started prepping their current Apple TV+ release, The Family Plan.

The action-comedy centers around Wahlberg and Michelle Monaghan’s characters’ suburban family,...

‘Neon’ Is Netflix’s Reggaeton Answer to ‘Entourage’

On Entourage, the central tension always involved the question of whether Vince was gonna do the movie. Only there was never really any tension, because of course Vince was gonna do the movie — or, if he didn’t, things would in some other way work out just fine for him, E, Turtle, and even Johnny Drama. Yet for a show with no real stakes and only a modest level of humor (especially if you weren’t amused by Ari screaming actionable insults at Lloyd), it ran for eight seasons. And a movie!

Kid Cudi’s ‘Entergalactic’ Blends Edgy Adult Animation With Conventional Romantic Comedy: TV Review
Image
From the beginning, Scott “Kid Cudi” Mescudi has approached his career as an artist who would sooner toil in obscurity than be renowned for just one thing. Just two years after dropping “A Kid Named Cudi,” the mixtape that launched him into the spotlight, he was cast in “How to Make It in America,” a short-lived HBO-originals deep cut. In the decade since that show ended in 2011, he’s earned a reputation for bouncing willy-nilly between genres, mediums, and disciplines, and the choices that once seemed fickle now seem confidently eclectic.

Never has Mescudi looked more like a polymath than with the debut of “Entergalactic,” an animated Netflix special timed to the release of his new studio album (also dropping on Sept. 30), which bears the same title. “Entergalactic” was initially announced in 2019 as a series to be created by Mescudi and Kenya Barris, but has since been whittled down to...

Image
Hulu has passed on “Rodham,” writer-producer Sarah Treem’s adaptation of the 2020 Curtis Sittenfeld novel that’s been in development at the streamer since summer 2020. But 20th Television is still is shopping the project to other streamers, now that Claire Danes and Dakota Fanning are attached to play Clinton at different stages of her life. In the package, Treem will write and executive produce, and James Ponsoldt will direct, with “Handmaid’s Tale” producer Warren Littlefield’s Littlefield Co. behind it.

“Rodham” — published in May 2020, and a New York Times bestseller — imagined an alternative universe in which Hillary Rodham Clinton met and dated Bill Clinton at Yale Law School, but never married him. Instead of the life Clinton has actually led, in “Rodham,” she goes on to thrive as a Northwestern University professor, and launches an eventual presidential run in 2016. Real-world events — such as rape accusations against Bill Clinton, and...

Kid Cudi Wears Floral Dress, Green Cardigan on ‘SNL’ in Tribute to Kurt Cobain
Image
Kid Cudi paid tribute to late Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain during his “Saturday Night Live” performances, rocking a fuzzy green cardigan and floral dress in true “Come As You Are” spirit.

Cudi first performed his song “Tequila Shots” and donned a green cardigan reminiscent of the one Cobain wore during Nirvana’s famous 1993 MTV Unplugged show. Cudi also paid homage to “SNL” legend Chris Farley in the look, sporting a t-shirt featuring the late comedian, who died of a drug overdose at age 33 in 1997. Cudi later posted on Twitter that the cardigan was from elusive streetwear brand Cactus Plant Flea Market.

The tribute continued in his second performance, which featured the song “Sad People.” Cudi rocked an Off-White floral dress custom made by Virgil Abloh, causing many fans to draw comparisons to a similarly-patterned dress Cobain was famously photographed in. The white, wide-skirted spaghetti strap ensemble featured a flower print...

‘Industry’: Young People Are Capital, But HBO’s Newest Gen-z Wall Street Show Isn’t Indispensible [Review]
Image
A far cry from HBO’s other youth-centered show (that would be the visceral and brazen “Euphoria”), HBO’s newest attempt at catching the Gen-z zeitgeist, “Industry,” hews closer to the short-lived “How to Make it in America,” both in treating the professional and sexual lives of 20-somethings as semi-interesting dramatic fodder, and in terms of quality, as the two shows are workmanlike and, ultimately, forgettable.

HBO Max Picks Up Lil Yachty’s ‘Public Figures’ From Quibi
Lil Yachty
The Lil Yachty-led comedy “Public Figures” is moving to HBO Max from Quibi, TheWrap has confirmed.

The series is being re-developed at the WarnerMedia streamer following news earlier this month that Quibi will shut down. It marks the first of the short-form streamer’s programs to find a new outlet in the weeks since Quibi’s creative partners were forced to seek alternative options for projects in development at the time of the decision.

“Public Figures” was first set up at Quibi in May of last year, with Lil Yachty set to star. Loosely based on his life, the ensemble dramedy explores what it’s like to be an aspiring influencer in New York City. The series follows a group of friends as they find themselves, lose themselves, experience epic failures and hard-fought success, hookups and breakups, and then do it all over again.

Hillary Clinton Alternate History Series ‘Rodham’ in Development at Hulu
Image
Hulu has optioned the rights to Curtis Sittenfeld’s alternative history book “Rodham,” which takes place in a world in which Hillary Rodham never married Bill Clinton.

The series is described as telling the story of an ambitious young woman, developing her extraordinary mind in the latter part of the 20th century, moving from idealism to cynicism and all the way back again.

Sarah Treem is attached to write and executive produce the project. “The Handmaid’s Tale” executive producer Warren Littlefield will also executive produce “Rodham” via The Littlefield Company along with Sittenfeld. Fox 21 Television Studios, where Littlefield is under an overall deal, will produce.

Should the show go to series, it would be the second project focused on Hillary Clinton that Hulu has aired. The streamer debuted the four-part docuseries “Hillary” back in March. That series chronicled her 2016 presidential campaign while also delving into events from her past that shaped her life.
