Udhayanidhi Stalin in Nenjuku Needhi (2022)

Impactful

This movie is about hard-hitting truths in the current society. Bold content well handled by director, applause dialogues. Spoken well against the caste discrimination which is the worst part about our country, and no other movies have done this in recent times this bold. Every dialogue was impactful. Good acting by Udhayanidhi and the eyes searching for something that he needed from start to the end were held in esteem. Excellent cinematography which shooting on anamorphic gave it more depth with supporting good color grade by the colorist. The music tried to elevate during the high tension scenes but it was dull. The Interval portion and the climax elevated the movie to a level in which other parts failed. Some characters have not created any impact and have been vulnerable which has to be properly versed for the story. Whipping the upper castes and their discrimination against the lower castes was the best part. Bit slow narration so felt more lag initially, predictable yet the story made its justice. The person should rely on the law for justice but seeing our country's conditions, it's highly questionable. A proper impactful Movie.

Well made remake

A well made remake . Nenjuku Needhi is official remake of Article 15 ( Hindi ) movie . If you ask whether Nenjuku Needhi created same impact that created by Article 15 , I will say absolutely Yes . It delivered the same essence like Article 15 did . This movie is based on complex caste system in our country , eventhough there are laws , one can't avoid discrimination . Story tells how a cop breaks the barriers to solve a caste related crime , by trusting his country's Law . This movie neither copy pasted its original version nor over changed . We should really appreciate Arunraja Kamaraj it's a difficult job to remake a successful movie , here he done a very good job , he did some changes , literally it supported movie well . Udhayanidhi delivered one of the best performance in his carrier , but eventhough in few places it felt bit dull . Other supporting cast done their job very well . Dialogues were well written and hard-hitting . Dhibu Ninan Thomas's as music director , gave good songs ( 2 songs ) , BGM could've been more better . Cinematography was good . Overall a well made movie , eventhough if you had watched Article 15 give a try .

Uthayanithi subtle act and faithful remake ...

RATED 8/10 Language: Tamil Media Partner: Sony Liv RECOMMENDED

Faithful remake and Arunraja shown his capability as director again. The dialogs are so sharp and thanks to original also. The movie was well regioanlised and didnt feel any remake shades in the movie... Uthayanithi acted so well and the camera angles elevates him/his character very well.. Must watch movie with kids to understand the "social distance" issues and the pain.

Much needed movie!

Dialogues are razor sharp. I thoroughly enjoyed the movie. This movie portrays the ground reality of cast hierarchy. Director doesn't compromise to show about cast reality. But its really weird why people are not celebrating this movie who celebrated Pariyerum Perumal and Asuran in past. This is one of gem in Tamil cinema industry and it needs to be appreciated. Best part of the movie is smooth narration without unhurried. I really love this movie.

Very average movie

The plot was good one but the scenes and screenplay was very artificial and purposely stuffed. Article 15 was a good and not this one. One time watchable. Actors performance was good.

Movie that tries to surpass ASURAN,

As everyone know this is a remake of "Article 15", It hold the true formula of the original movie which contributes to its success. The dialogues are the main part of this movie as it proves even a successful remake can be improved by a great writing. And the screenplay is also good but I don't why but I get a feeling that original movie had a better hero than it's counterpart, that's not a bad thing on a greater sense but it holds me from giving 10.

Very slow screenplay

Nenjuku needhi film is a moving very slowly, not thrilling. I understand it is a crime investigation movie, but I was hoping it will be fast paced and interesting like Visaranai, Kaidhi, but it is slow and boring. Acting by Udhay anna is also artificial and poor, screenplay is half baked. Better to watch in OTT.

udhayanidhi stalin did justice to the role

This film battles the major disease that has been persistently haunting india since ages "caste system" Anyone with an open mind who doesnt want to benefit from this caste system should watch this movie and how the protagonist fights his ways through hurdles to challenge that system and do justice to 3 minor girls workers in a factory who fall prey to an arrogant upper caste (as defined by caste system of hinduism) man who owns that factory, he along with his menaces gang rape those three girls and kill them.

Worth a watch

Based on a true incident, a remake, good script and worth a watch. While I know the one line, was wondering if it will work for tamil audience. I guess, it did. Ready to watch Article 15 now 😊

Justice not done to the remake

Nenjuku Needhi is a much anticipated movie dealing with social suppressions and caste oppressions. But yesterday I went for matinee show and it was not up to mark. I don't know why director Arunraja Kamaraj did not do justice to the direction and screenplay. Basically the movie was OK prior to interval, but after that the movie became slow paced, boring and to predictable.

Not engrossing or interesting

I was waiting for this movie because of Arunraja Kamaraj direction and Udhayanidhi acting. But the direction is very artificial and shabby, screenplay is disappointing and Udhayanidhi acting is not power-packed since he is donning the role of a cop. Also, the songs are not note-worthy. Maybe 1 time viewable once it is released in OTT. I think movie will release within few weeks in OTT. Not worth seeing in theatre.

Poor acting and weak screenplay

The movie suffers from poor acting from Udhayanidhi and weak screenplay. The original "Article-15" movie was very realistic and natural, but this remake is utopian, non-realistic, too much heroism, and artificial. Movie is also very slow and not interesting.

Not worth the hype

I saw lot of news Tamilnadu district councillors, DMK party members, Tamilnadu MLA's, MP's, Mayors, etc, forced to watch this movie... And everybody coming for this movie in theatre are given biryani.. so yesterday I watched this movie in Nagerkovil, movie is not worth the hype and frenzy.. very slow paced movie, sub-standard acting, but screenplay is good.. powerful social dialogues and message.. songs are OK..

Utter Worst over hyped actor sorry Politician

The real issues going unfortunately even now at some places are tried to be used for political benifits..and thus advertised too by a political entity good 👍 Now since its politically linked Heroism is must afterall that's what you want to imprint in audience mind.

so artificial, does fit TN

Untouchability is an offence and it is still being practised in many regions across India but majorly in the northern side of the country only this film is a remake of the Hindi film, it feels very unnatural and doesn't seem to fit into the Tamilnadu's context, hence the attempt of this remake itself should've been discussed upfront before jumping into the making.

This film somehow felt like being directed by pa. Ranjith at a certain point because of this factor of untouchability & fight b/w upper & lower middle-class people. I just don't get the fact of why these directors are making such non-sensical flicks and spreading negativity, there is always a good & bad thing with any given event, these guys take only the bad part of the event and try to make films for their own purpose but claim outside that they're making it to make the society aware of it just for the sake of it. I have a totally opposite opinion to that, I'd say that if these assholes stop making such a nuisance, the society would eventually forget the caste system itself and finally become one but it doesn't look like they're willing to let the society change.

Inspiring dialogues, cliche story

Many scripts are being recycled these days without adding a new touch 😔 It's fantastic to tell stories on casteism but if the main point is to glorify the lead actor, then the purpose is defeated...

DELICIOUS

---The dialogues in Nenjuku Needhi were impressive and inspirational. We actually wrote down some of the lines :)

Arunraja Kamaraj (the writer) intentionally challenged the status quo by raising valuable questions on patriotism and highlighting the hypocrisy of the caste system/division within the same caste.

-A big applause to the art director & team for the realistic environments produced, especially the police station flooded by the septic tank

-The supporting cast and background actors 'held the ship together'. They were engaging and dynamic in their performances, big ups to Suresh Chakravarthy and Ilavarasu

-The handheld camera movements intensified the melancholic mood of each scene notably during the beating and fighting segments

BLAND

---The typical issue with movies on casteism is the glorification of the lead actor. Udhayanidhi Stalin was portrayed as this messianic figure who came to town in order to blow a new wind of change.

He was the ideal police officer who enforced law & justice and was a savior to the weak & lowly

-Udhayanidhi Stalin and his wife Adithi (Tanya Ravichandran) mostly had a one-note facial expression throughout the movie

-Are movies about casteism made more for publicity's sake or to revolutionize people's attitudes?

The majority of these films don't even use actual low-caste individuals as lead actors or supporting cast. It's as if they're just showcasing the wrongs of society without truly being the change.
