Found this movie on my firestick and thought it was the new one with Milla jovovich and was very disappointed why make two movies with almost the same exact name In the title just plain dumb would give this movie a 0 if I could didn't even finish the whole movie I was that disappointed and uninterested hoping Mila's is better then this junk
I don't know how something like this even made it to production. Seriously bad movie, do NOT recommend
When I saw this title, I immediately thought of The Asylum. And as luck would have it, as I sat down to watch "Monster Hunters", my suspicion held true, as this was indeed another mockbuster from The Asylum, and this time on the upcoming "Monster Hunter" movie based on the game.
But still, I sat down to watch "Monster Hunters", knowing well enough that chances were like 90% of this being yet another dubious movie from The Asylum. But every now and again they do put out something that is worthwhile watching. "Monster Hunters" just wasn't in that last 10%, truth be told.
First of all, the title alone made little sense given the movie's plot and storyline. But hey, whatever lures in the audience and gets those not well-traversed in the movie business to spend their money on what they might think be just that blockbuster movie and instead ending up with a questionable mockbuster.
The storyline in "Monster Hunters" was actually pretty straight forward, but it was at the same time also a very simplistic storyline with many plot holes and things that just didn't make sense. For example, why would only a handful of people get shipped out to investigate and contain a downed alien spacecraft and capture any potential aliens? It just made no sense that the government wouldn't lock down the entire area and be swarming with military and specialists. But I guess The Asylum didn't have the budget for such endeavors.
The cast list was adequate, although the only familiar face was Tom Sizemore, and let's just face it, he is not exactly the most outstanding of Hollywood performers. However, it should be said that the actors and actresses actually managed to do well enough with the storyline and characters, despite of the restrictions imposed by the script.
"Monster Hunters" is a movie with aliens and alien technology, so of course having proper CGI and special effects is a must for such a movie. Well, let's just say that the CGI was not overly great, and was reminiscent of something you'd see in a mid-1990s computer game.
I managed to sit through the entire ordeal, though I was less than mildly entertained. My rating of director Brendan Petrizzo and writer Jeremy M. Inman's movie lands on a generous three out of ten stars. It wasn't a particularly great or memorable movie, but there are far worse sci-fi movies out there.
