NBC's Grimm, one of the most underrated dark fantasy shows of the past decade, has now hit streaming. Featuring a likable cast that went on to become familiar faces, Grimm followed a supernatural hunter who battled classic fantasy creatures. A forgotten gem from the 2010s, Grimm was a rare instance when the modernization of classic fairy and folk tales worked as a procedural. It's not perfect by any means, especially in the show's latter seasons, but there is enough to keep fantasy lovers invested from start to finish.
All six seasons of Grimm are now available to stream on Peacock. The show stars David Giuntoli as Nicholas "Nick" Burkhardt, a homicide detective who comes from a long line of "Grimms," which have the superhuman ability to see the mythological creatures known as the Wesen. Alongside his partner, Detective Hank (Russell Hornsby), they solve week-to-week mysteries revolving around the Wesen...

With the superhero genre being so vast, it's no surprise that some actors have portrayed multiple characters across DC movies. Despite the live-action sphere currently being dominated by the MCU, DC has plenty more to offer in the way of animated movies, thanks in no small part to the DC Animated Universe. This has allowed plenty of actors to lend their voices to certain roles while portraying entirely new characters in DC's live-action movies.
Still, there is no shortage of actors who have portrayed multiple characters in the live-action arena. Thanks to 1989's Batman, DC was the first to churn out live-action blockbusters that would eventually morph into the Dceu, a cinematic franchise comprising 15 movies that have recast several DC movie veterans. With the Dcu poised to reboot DC's cinematic franchise starting with Superman in July, this trend has already started to continue. With that in mind, here are the...

For many fans, Bruce Timm’s Dcau gave the most definitive version of Batman. Matt Reeves’ The Batman took inspiration from Timm’s dark and gritty tone of the character in Batman: The Animated Series. Timm proved that he could develop feature-length animated movies, debuting with the Batman movie, Mask of the Phantasm. However, Timm never once got the call from DC or WB to create a live-action Batman film.
Batman: The Animated Series creator Bruce Timm could’ve done a great job with a live-action film
Timm knows that he missed his chance, admitting that he was too lazy to pursue the live-action project. He was even confident that he could come up with a decent movie, that was better than George Clooney’s Batman & Robin and reached somewhere near Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight.

Todd McFarlane has said that 2024 will be the “make or break year” for getting another Spawn project off the ground. And while we have every right to be skeptical on the matter – McFarlane isn’t exactly the most reliable on this front – fans of the character and the 1997 movie may still hold out hope. But will Michael Jai White return for Spawn 2?
As it turns out, Michael Jai White doesn’t give Spawn all that much thought, although he could potentially consider a return. “I really don’t think much about the sequel. If I was invited to do it, then I’d apply myself toward it, but I mean, I think it’s been talked about for a very long time. Though they've made a fraction of the box office of even the worst DC live-action movie, creatively the crown jewel of DC Comics adaptations lies in their animated movies. It's through animation that the potential of comic book adaptations really shines. Ever since "Superman: Doomsday" was released in 2007, we've had movies that faithfully adapt popular comics storylines (rather than just borrow the name for brand recognition and throw the rest away), original films with wild concepts, and even movies that build on continuity like the biggest cinematic universes.
This is one of the most interesting aspects of the DC animated movies, because there are two proper continuities, each building up characters and storylines and exploring giant crossovers in a way DC has not come even close to figuring out in live-action.
Given how little resources Warner Bros. have used to properly market this universe or make sure audiences are aware of its continuity,...

Not only is One More Shot filmed with the illusion of being one long take like its predecessor 2021’s One Shot, it does something more important. It reunites director James Nunn and writer Jamie Russell with the previous film’s leads, Scott Adkins as Navy Seal Jake Harris and Waleed Elgadi as terrorist Amin Mansur.
Following the events of the first film, Harris is escorting Mansur back to the US where they plan to get him to reveal the whereabouts of a dirty bomb set to explode during the State of the Union Address, which the President, of course, refuses to postpone. For leverage, CIA Agent Marshall has brought Mansur’s pregnant wife Niesha to meet his plane. But they’re not the only ones there to meet the flight.

Writer Jeremy Adams, who has worked on both franchises, expressed his hope for a DC/Mortal Kombat crossover and his desire to be involved in the project. Based on a 2001 three-issue comic book miniseries written by Hellboy creator Mike Mignola and Richard Pace, Batman: The Doom That Came to Gotham is an alternate-world tale that introduced an alternate version of Bruce Wayne and the residents of Gotham to Lovecraftian horrors. It’s the most overtly horrific entry in the animated Batman franchise as well as the strangest.
In the 1920s an expedition led by Bruce Wayne arrives in Antarctica looking for another expedition, this one led by Professor Cobblepot. What he finds instead are mutated creatures and the professor’s undead assistant Grendon whom he brings back to Gotham.

If you’re wondering where all the Batman movies are currently streaming, you’ve come to the right place.
The Caped Crusader is not just one of the most iconic DC Comics characters of all time, he’s also one of the most prominent figures in the last few decades of blockbuster cinema. While Adam West kicked things off with the 1960s TV series “Batman” and subsequent film, filmmaker Tim Burton gave the character a big screen blockbuster with 1989’s “Batman.” Michael Keaton filled the role that was later inhabited by the likes of Val Kilmer, George Clooney, Christian Bale and Ben Affleck – and that’s not to mention the bevy of animated iterations that have come and gone over the years.
With a new Batman film on the horizon debuting Robert Pattinson’s take on the character, what better time to revisit past iterations of the character. Below is...

Catwoman: Hunted is the latest film in the rebooted DC Animated Movie slate and is, like Batman: Soul of the Dragon, heavily influenced by films of another era. In …Dragon it was 70s kung-fu cinema and here it’s 60s spy and crime thrillers – films like Danger: Diabolik and shows like The Saint, with an opening title sequence that screamed the work of Seijun Suzuki, the man responsible for a swathe of 60s crime films in Japan. A new year has finally arrived and HBO Max is set to open it with a bang. With its list of new releases for January 2022, HBO Max is rolling out some intriguing original series and an absolutely packed slate of library titles.
The real highlight this month comes on Jan. 13 with the release of Peacemaker. Developed by James Gunn, this series spins off John Cena’s titular character from last years’ The Suicide Squad. The show will delve into the pathology of a superhero who will achieve peace regardless of how many people need to be killed to attain it.
Also of note this month are second seasons for two major HBO series. Euphoria season 2 and The Righteous Gemstones season 2 both premiere on Jan. 9, making for quite the odd double feature. Meanwhile, the fifth and final season of superb comedy Search Party arrives on Jan. 7.
January 2022 is light as far as original movies go.

Between the live action reboot of Mortal Kombat and my growing appreciation of the animated Batman films it was pretty much a given that I would check out another of Warner’s animated offerings, Mortal Kombat Legends: Battle of the Realms.
Mortal Kombat Legends: Battle of the Realms begins with a couple fleeing through deserted streets before being confronted by a trio of nasty looking creatures. They kill the couple but Raiden (Dave B. Mitchell; Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous) arrives in time to save their baby whom the mother names Liu Kang with her dying breath.
We’re barely a minute in and already there’s a decapitation and a pair of eyes exploding from their sockets.

Batman: The Long Halloween, Part Two picks up almost immediately after the teaser at the end of Part One. Bruce Wayne is under the spell of Poison Ivy and Batman nowhere to be found. At least until Catwoman intervenes.
But even as he’s recovering from three months under her influence other problems are plaguing a crime ravaged Gotham City. District Attorney Harvey Dent is being pushed to the edge by his job and the toll it’s taking on his marriage. And the continuing spree of The Holiday Killer has pushed Carmine Falcone to make some dangerous alliances with the likes of Poison Ivy and The Mad Hatter (John Dimaggio). While I’m not much of a comic fan, I did enjoy the faux Bruce Wayne/Bruce Lee team up Batman: Soul of the Dragon enough that when I saw Batman: The Long Halloween, Part One pop up I decided to check it out. Director Chris Palmer and writer Tim Sheridan have adapted the 13-part story by Jeph Loeb and Tim Sale into two films with the second part out at the end of July.

James Hong will finally be getting his own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. With a career dating back to the 1950s with over 600 movie and TV credits to his name, Hong can be recognized from any number of places by his fans, from Airplane! And Big Trouble in Little China to Wayne's World 2 and the Kung Fu Panda movies. James Hong is certainly more than deserving, and this week, the 92-year-old actor was listed among a group of fellow Hollywood legends as one of the newest recipients to be given his own star.
This is fantastic news, as it follows a campaign of Hong supporters for the actor to be honored on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Last year, Hawaii Five-0 star Daniel Dae Kim launched a GoFundMe page to raise money for Hong's Walk of Fame Star installation. The campaign successfully surpassed its goal of $55,000, which...

It has been said, Very often, that Warner Bros’ animated DC movies are the highlight of the DC cinematic universe – often surpassing their live-action counterparts in terms of performance and story, with more animated hits than live-action misses. The long-running series of animated movies was recently rebooted, no longer needing to fit into the continuity of The New 52, under the “DC Universe Movies” banner… the latest of which is Justice Society: World War II.

Surprised to find himself in World War II, but instinctively aware of his new role, The Flash (voiced by Matt Bomer) makes quick work of a platoon of Nazi soldiers terrorizing a war-torn village in this all-new clip from Justice Society: World War II.

The actors in the MCU may have dominated with their big-screen characters, but many of them are also talented voice actors. Some MCU actors are well known for voicing popular roles in animated superhero movies, like Samuel L. Jackson in The Incredibles movies, otherwise known as Nick Fury. Even Doctor Strange's Benedict Cumberbatch has voiced a version of everyone's favorite Christmas character, The Grinch.

The funny thing about voice acting, though, is that those in the audience may not immediately catch on to what actor is voicing a character. Paul Rudd, for example, was one of the many Hollywood actors who took part in the adult dark comedy, Sausage Party, and many might be surprised that quite a few other MCU actors have voiced characters on the small and big screen.

The canceled video game adaptation of The Dark Knight is one of the more fascinating and infamous pieces of game industry lore. To some, the title is just a curious footnote in video game history. To others (mostly those who invested in the project or lost their jobs over it), it’s a dark reminder of an idea that is perhaps best left forgotten.
I see the game a little differently, though. While it’s easy to look at these kinds of projects that were never released and wonder what could have been, the fascinating thing about the canceled Dark Knight game is that wondering what would have happened if the game had been released is the quickest way to distract yourself from the many ways that the world of gaming was changed by the fact it wasn’t released.

Since 2007 DC has released a steady stream of direct-to-video animated movies featuring their iconic characters. These ambitious features have been praised for their aim at a more adult audience with many of the movies rated PG-13 and even R. While the plots often adapt classic comic book storylines, their most recent film, Batman: Soul of the Dragon is an original story from the minds of director Sam Liu, writer Jeremy Adams, and executive producer Bruce Timm.

Just as the Super Bowl traditionally inhibits studios from releasing new titles to theaters, there were few fresh films available on home platforms. As a result, four titles — all previously ranked #1 on multiple charts — took the top spots again. The exception was Netflix, which debuted “Malcolm & Marie” February 5. Starring Zendaya and John David Washington, it immediately became the streamer’s most-watched film.
Long-running, still-Premium VOD titles “Greenland” and “News of the World,” along with $5.99 rentals “Tenet” and “Let Him Go,” are this week’s chart toppers. “News” and “Tenet” made all four lists (as did “The War with Grandpa”). “Let Him Go” failed to make Spectrum’s top 10, with its price reduction coming too late to impact the list.
There were a few surprises. Why is “2067,” an Australian science-fiction film starring Ryan Kwanten and Kodi Smit McPhee, available for $0.99 at Apple? (It’s more expensive elsewhere.) “Promising Young Woman,...

This article contains Batman: Soul of the Dragon spoilers.
The latest DC animated film Batman: Soul of the Dragon is a complete reimagining of the Dark Knight. It’s an out-of-continuity story, the kind of tale DC usually places under its Elseworlds banner. Set in the 1970s, Soul of the Dragon places Batman (David Giuntoli) as part of an ensemble of heroes, a collection of the top martial arts masters in the DC universe including Richard Dragon (Mark Dacascos), Lady Shiva (Kelly Hu), Ben Turner a.k.a. Bronze Tiger (Michael Jai White), and O-Sensei (James Hong).
“It’s a weird movie in that you can literally take the voice cast and transpose it into live-action and they can make the same movie,” gushes writer Jeremy Adams, “They’re all accomplished and good looking. It all works!”

Batman was enjoying a renaissance as the 1970s dawned. Freed from its ties to the ABC series, editor Julius Schwartz worked with writers Frank Robins and Denny O’Neil on rejuvenating the Darknight Detective, returning him closer to his pulp-roots.
In short order, O’Neil would rise to become the premier Batman scribe of the era to be followed by a notable stretch as his editor from 1986 through the early 2000s. His impact is immeasurable. On the side, though, he aspired to be a prose writer as well and among his works from that period was a collaboration with cartoonist Jim Berry on the 1974 novel Kung Fu Master, Richard Dragon: Dragon’s Fists (1974) under the pseudonym “Jim Dennis.”
As the Martial Arts craze was beginning its descent, DC Comics optioned the novel and had O’Neil write and edit the adaptation as Richard Dragon, Kung-Fu Fighter. There, he introduced readers to Dragon,...

It is here that Bruce, along with other elite students, is forged in the fire of the martial arts discipline. The lifelong bonds they form will be put to the test when a deadly menace arises from their past. It will take the combined efforts of Batman and world-renowned martial artists Richard Dragon, Ben Turner and Lady...

Way back in September, DC’s second FanDome event dropped a huge announcement: DC Universe, the all-encompassing DC entertainment streaming app that featured comics, movies, and TV shows from the DC catalog, would narrow its focus to comics, becoming an app called DC Universe Infinite.
The new app launches on Jan. 21 and brings with is a slew of changes, many of them for the better — at least if comics are what you’re looking for. Den of Geek got an early peek under the hood of the app and we have plenty of good news to share.
How It Works
First thing’s first: if you already have a DC Universe subscription and you’ve signed off on switching your account to the new app, all you have to do is download the DC Universe Infinite app when it goes live on Thursday morning. The new app will overwrite your...

The DC Universe Animated Original Movies are often confused with the DC Animated Universe (Dcau) and the DC Animated Movie Universe (Dcamu). The Dcau is made up of various TV series, like Batman: The Animated Series, and a few films connected to those series. The Dcamu is a continuity of sixteen interconnected movies that are included in the forty films from the DC Universe Animated Original Movies collection. With that out of the way, it's time to see which ones starring Green Lantern or Wonder Woman in pivotal roles are the best.

Strap on your bell-bottoms, spin the disco ball, and grab your nunchucks. The Dark Knight returns in a groovy, karate chopping, seventies retro animated adventure. Batman: Soul of the Dragon is an original story that mixes Bruce Lee inspired action with a James Bond storyline. The Caped Crusader is actually a supporting character to the ass-kicking Richard Dragon (Mark Dacascos). Bruce Wayne's (David Giuntoli) origin story is updated with a Japanese master and cohort of allies. The plot runs thin at times, but the film offers a fun and interesting new take on the beloved superhero.
Batman: Soul of the Dragon opens in the seventies with a secret agent, Richard Dragon, infiltrating a shady millionaire's mansion. There's something sinister about the snake-eyed Jeffrey Burr (Josh Keaton). Richard finds an ominous clue. After a high-flying escape, he travels to Gotham City to reconnect with an old friend.
Bruce Wayne is stunned...

Batman: Soul of the Dragon sets Gotham’s caped crusader in a vintage martial arts homage. Directed by Sam Liu, who also directed the animated movie version of one of the greatest Batman graphic novels ever published, Batman: The Killing Joke, this is the 42nd project in the ongoing DC Universe Movies series.
However, Soul of the Dragon is an original tale, not based on a precedent comic. Like the eye popping anime-style film Batman Ninja, this is a completely stand-alone story. Batman: Soul of the Dragon is yet another chapter in the many creation tales for Batman. It tells of his martial indoctrination and joining him on this adventure are three of the best martial artists within the DC multiverse: Lady Shiva (Kelly Hu), Ben Turner a.k.a. Bronze Tiger (Michael Jai White), and Richard Dragon (Mark Dacascos).

The years spent by Bruce Wayne training to become a crimefighter are some of the most fascinating in the Batman mythos, and have been explored in multiple ways across various mediums. A new DC animated feature, Batman: Soul of the Dragon now offers the intriguing prospect of a 1970s-set story wherein a young Bruce embarks on the path to martial arts mastery. We recently received the trailer and first clip from the film, and now have an introduction to Richard Dragon, one of the main characters from the Bruce Timm-produced movie.
In the video, which you can catch above, voice actor Mark Dacascos describes how we meet Dragon in the 1970s as a super spy who trained with Bruce alongside master O-Sensei. We then see Dragon in training, and being pointed out by O-Sensei to Bruce, foreshadowing the partnership between the two depicted in the recent trailer. At this point,...
