FX's Snowfall spinoff is officially moving forward. The original Snowfall series, which ran from 2017 to 2023, explored the rise of the crack cocaine epidemic in 1980s Los Angeles. Created by the late John Singleton, Eric Amadio, and Dave Andron, Snowfall followed Franklin Saint’s (Damson Idris) journey into a burgeoning drug kingpin as he partners with Teddy (Carter Hudson), a CIA operative. The upcoming spinoff will pick up soon after the end of the original series as recovering addict Wanda Bell-Simmons begins her career in West Coast rap in the 1990s while a violent gang war rages on.

Variety has now reported that the Snowfall spinoff has secured a pilot order from FX, marking a significant milestone in its development since it was first announced in 2023. The new series will see Snowfall star Gail Bean reprise her role as Wanda, alongside Isaiah John, who returns as her husband Leon Simmons.

The NBCUniversal streamer is making its regional sports networks available on Peacock with prices ranging from $15 to $25 per month.

NBCUniversal just made it easier for sports fans in four of the country’s largest markets to follow their favorite teams. The multi-pronged media company announced on Tuesday that it would be making livestreams of its four regional sports networks (RSNs) available on its flagship streaming service Peacock. Now, sports fans in Boston, Philadelphia, and parts of California will be able to stream their favorite local MLB, NBA, NHL, and WNBA teams’ games in addition to tons of other sports content.

The US Golf Association has let its exclusive negotiating window with NBCUniversal expire without a deal.

NBC and Peacock may have a little less golf to offer in the coming years. NBCUniversal had been in an exclusive negotiating window with the U.S. Golf Association (Usga) until December, but that window lapsed without a new deal being made. Now, Usga rights will head to the open market, where they could draw interest from a number of streaming platforms.

NBCU’s current deal to offer Usga championship events expires in 2025. The two sides engaged in a 90-day exclusive negotiation period, but that expired on Dec. 31 without a new agreement being made.

The extension is worth $3 billion, and includes two additional Olympic games.

The 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris were a huge win for NBC. Not only did the channel draw more than 30 million viewers to the Games, it also saw audiences around the world stream them for a combined 23.5 billion minutes. The International Olympic Committee (Ioc) was certainly pleased by the results, as it has agreed to an extension of the broadcast deal between it and Comcast — NBCUniversal’s parent company — that will keep the games on the company’s platforms through 2036.

There’s a tried-and-true aphorism in Hollywood that ‘There’s no one way to break in.’ Even though TV writing seems to have one of the more straightforward paths – Pa, Script Coordinator, Writers’ Assistant, Staff Writer, Success????- the saying still applies.

Take Episodic Writing Lab Fellow Hank Jones for example. Sure, he got a break working as a Pa on The Game, but that wasn’t the end of his journey. The Will Trent writer made his own projects, applied to labs, and worked writing for animation before moving over to live action.

And of course, he was a part of Film Independent’s Episodic Writing Labs. The lab gave him the opportunity to hone his craft, practice pitching, and build a community with his fellow writers.

I absolutely loved “Nosferatu”. It’s everything a horror remake should be - respectful of the original while making its own mark. Bill Skarsgård’s voice as Nosferatu is unreal - guttural, chilling, and completely inhuman. The whole movie is just the right kind of creepy, never leaning on cheap jump scares but instead building tension through eerie visuals, unsettling silence, and incredible performances.
