One time watch, but Good

If are a regular Korean movie viewer, like me, you would feel that this is a regular action comedy.

The production team should be appreciated for their intention of bringing in the original to Telugu audience by genuinely buying rights. There are some directorial flaws with characterisation and accent. But it is a an Ok outcome. It is not easy to bring in Korean thoroughness in work by every movie team.

The cast was good. Music could have been better.

The suspense could have been made tight for telugu audience who would guess the storyline at 70% movie progress.

The lead actresses were good on performance. Comedy was good but not sterio typing.

Copy of the Korean movie "midnight runners"

Basically in the Korean one, they had two men training and in this one, there's two women, the rest is pretty much the same other than this being overdramatic. As much as I liked the Korean (original) one, I just couldn't seem to like it a lot due to it not portraying a real life scenario, everything seemed a little too much, that's what I personally feel. The beginning when they were messing with each other could've been shortened a bit and their bonding time could've been extended a little as well. But one that must be mentioned is the effort the actresses took build up the structure of it was truly appreciable.

A forced action comedy

Saakini Daakini is the story of two girls(more like women) who joins the police academy for completely different reasons and the incidents that happens during their training. Shalini is bold and carefree but has no idea what to do with her life while Daamini, who has some cleanliness disease, is there for her parents who are police officers.

The first half shows the rivalry between these two and tries to be funny by injecting comic actors. Some of the scenes were funny but most scenes felt forced or lame. It was like there's nothing serious happening in a police academy.

Things take a turn once they see a girl getting kidnapped infront of them. While I am all for "girl power", them fighting all those goons weren't convincing enough. Shaalini has a Kabaddi background and is powerful enough to fight off some goons. But Daamini isn't. It should've been set up in a better way.

However, both the actress deserves an applaud for their efforts during the action scenes.

The action choreography and cinematography looks solid but the background score was so bad during the action scenes. I don't understand the need for including the goddess Kali thing. It felt so cringey.

That being said, it's not a bad movie. It can be fun if you could ignore the bad scenes.

A recommendation of women centric Indian movie in 2022

A really good movie. Really well directed and definitely a treat to watch for those who expect more women centric heroic roles in the Indian cinema. The character development of the two main characters provided a very good coming of age storyline. The issue at hand was also significant yet not necessarily cliche like many movies. The differentiating personalities of the characters were also quite a treat to watch in the movie. The action scenes were well packed incorporated drama, to make a seemingly good direction. Kudos to both the actresses and the director's, writers producers, most definitely enjoyed watching this movie, loved the highlighted theme of women empowerment, something Indian cinema either doesn't show or fail to portray appropriately and would highly recommend.

Yet another girl power movie

The movie is a girl power action comedy. Two women from different backgrounds meet at a police training. They resolve their differences and become good friends. They solve a kidnap case like they are james bond. I was under an impression that Indian cinema is slowly distancing itself from one man hitting 100 people. But this one is one woman hiyying 100s of people. A typical action movie with no big surprises.

The first half od the movie is funny and breezes through the eye. The second part is actually the heavy weight. The stunt sequences in the second half were great. Showing all other police officials in a bad light was unwarranted. The reason for the kidnap was novel and was interesting. They could have added more power to villain. That might have helped. The climax lacked that drama.

All in all, we can watch the movie once. Not more than that.

A step in right direction

Hindi movies can have some ridiculous action scenes, if bahubali can get away with it, then by all means Shalini and damini should, but by all means, this movie had one of the best action scenes by women, no stunt doubles, its not perfect but you definitely see the work the actresses put in. Action choreography was good too, supporting characters are forgettable though. No dance number, it definitely was not needed. No stunt doubles, movie trope is familiar but not cliche, also they showed after math injuries, all in all, a good movie in its own rights, they are definitely things that could be improved but it's ok.

Average movie! Time pass!

There is nothing so interesting or amazing in this movie. Just any other normal picture. If you have couple of hours and have nothing to do then yes this movie is a good timepass.

Few scenes made no sense at all! I felt like the movie should have been much better in many instances. But yes we can appreciate the director as he did total justice to the story.

There is nothing realistic in this movie.. the hospital scene is too exaggerated.

All fights are too artificial, fight scenes made me feel like the lead actresses are wonder women and black widow! Too much elevated.

Everything considered a time pass movie!

A well crafted movie

While Saakini Damini seemed like a comedy initially, the way the story develops into a serious theme of organ trafficking was phenomenal. Both the main protagonists evolved well from being a couple of bickering kids to serious cops. While the first 30min of the movie seemed slow, it quickly picks up pace and thereafter was a treat to watch. The action sequences were well done and seemed natural. Both Nivetha Thomas and Cassandra did justice to their respective roles. Nivetha's comic timing and witty remarks were funny. Kudos to the makers of the movie! Indian/English Cinema needs more such gems!

Shalini and Damini rocks!!

A simple story with nice comedy and actions. Both actresses were great and a nice to see such more movies in future that are more women actors than men. This will bring more equality in the entertainment industry too.

The film cinematography is also good but could have been better.

Even though movie is not in Hindi but it was great watching with subtitles and Bollywood should learn how to come with such stories and explore more than making same old masla.

Content should be interesting not boring and at the same time not too much of hype. Which this movie is able to deliver it right.

It's a go.

Refreshing movie, different from all other movies

This movie is refreshing. A different kind from all other movies. I was bored of watching movies with same repeated stories in different forms. This movie came as a relief. Really liked the movie. The humor at the first half was too good. Second half could have been made better, but I liked it. Both the female protagonists rocked it. I don't usually write reviews. Sad to see lesser rating from others. This movie should really need a higher rating. I would recommend everyone to watch it. Watch it without any expectations on a night when you are bored. You would definitely like it. Bring more movies like this, Netflix.

Amazing action comedy!

Kudos to these ladies for such an entertaining movie! Comedy was top notch! Action sequences were awesome! We need more such women oriented films! It was thoroughly enjoyable! Loved it! Can't comprehend people criticizing such fine work! Definitely worth a watch! Nivetha's dialogues will crack you up! If you can put aside meagre plot flaws, it's a fantastic attempt with 2 female protagonists! At the end of the movie, you can't help but fall in love with the characters! They are very well written! One of the very few good Telugu films in recent times! Perfect for a weekend watch, no vulgarity or stupidity!

Excellent Movie I highly recommend watching the movie

Excellent Movie. I thoroughly enjoyed the movie. We need more such movies to be telecasted. Everyone talks about women's empowerment, but when such films are released to showcase women's power, some discourage them.

Both actresses in this movie performed very well, and it would be good if they picked more such projects even in the future, as they blend nicely into the character. The comedy and action sequences in the movie are well-balanced, and all the characters in this movie perform to the best of their ability. I highly recommend watching this movie, especially those who want to choose their career.

Superb!

Simple, impactful, solid performances and no unnecessary drama! Storyline, minimalistic and yet so engaging. Regina and Nivetha were solid with stunts and Nivetha's role is super relatable. Must watch for those who encourage meaningful movies with less publicity, songs, dance, etc. The chemistry between the actors is really good and both stood out well. Also liked the placement of various Telugu actors throughout the movie and just enough screen time for each. Will be watching again and recommend to must-watch list to friends. Worth the 2 hrs of watch compared to many other masala movies with rom-com. Don't miss!

Must watch Women Centric Action Comedy!

Great initiative - one of those rare women centric police/action-cum-comedy movie with realistic action sequences and fun moments. Love how light hearted the movie starts, and slowly starts churning out the real story. Starts off as a typical college/University based movie plot and evolves into a more serious story. Nivetha Thomas and Regina Cassandra show excellent command over the language (Telugu) and share a beautiful rapport on screen. If you are looking for something sensible and fun to watch, over lunch or over dinner, you could add this to your list! One of Netflix's good additions lately.

Absolutely fantabulous movie

When I watched this movie I felt like watching a next generation movie. In the sense the characterization of Regina & Nivetha are really entertaining and humorous as well as heart touching. Shakini & Daikini are both innocent but yet intelligent. A crazy & dangerous combo. And that' quite evident in this movie. The story, screenplay & direction are really great. Among the male protagonist competition in the feature films in Indian film industry 'Shakini Daniki' stands out as a next generation film. I see a great scope & possibilities for more female protagonist features hereafter. There were many more female protagonist oriented films in the past but 'Shakini Daniki' is a new trend setter for entertainer genre.
