All this while Indian-origin actress Parminder Nagra seemed to be stuck to her South Asian roots.

Parminder Nagra has admitted that she was worried about her naked scenes with Ray Winstone in new ITV1 drama Compulsion. The Bend It Like Beckham star told The Mirror that she and Winstone would talk about food during filming to take their minds off the naked scenes. Nagra Shunned Arranged Marriage
E.R. star Parminder Nagra risked incurring her parents' wrath as a teenager - when she refused to agree to an arranged marriage.
The British actress was shown a photo of a mystery man when she was 18 and told by her mother he was her future husband.
But the shocked teenager flatly refused to be forced into marriage with a man chosen by her parents.
She says, "When I was 18 my mother gave me a photo of a man and said I'd marry him. I told her then I was never going to have an arranged marriage. No one has ever forced me to do anything against my will."
And Nagra admits she could be set for another confrontation with her parents - she has filmed her first ever sex scene for upcoming TV movie Compulsion with The Departed actor Ray Winstone.
She adds: "I always said I'd never do a nude scene but now I have. I know there will be a huge fuss when Compulsion comes out. It's partly because of the fact I'm Asian. People don't expect me to do that. I never expected myself to do that. I always said 'No' and then finally I reached a point where I thought, 'It's now or never'.
"My mum will probably disapprove but I'll deal with that. I'm old enough now to make decisions like this."...
