Netflix’s Sam Bankman-Fried Limited Series Adds Matt Rife, Paul Reiser, Alex Lawther and 7 More to Cast

“The Altruists,” Netflix’s upcoming limited series about the Sam Bankman-Fried-founded cryptocurrency exchange Ftx, has added 10 cast members.

The upcoming series will star Eugene Young as Ftx co-founder Gary Wang, Madison Hu (“The Brothers Sun”) as Ftx COO Constance Wang, Karan Soni (“Deadpool”) as Ftx’s head of engineering Nishad Singh, comedian Matt Rife as CEO of Ftx Digital Markets Ryan Salame, Alex Lawther as co-ceo of Alameda Research Sam Trabucco and Naomi Okada (“Q Train”) as Ftx senior executive Claire Watanabe. All will be series regulars.

Additionally, Maddie Hasson (“Malignant”) will star as Ftx head of global luxury partnerships Lauren Platt and Paul Reiser (“Mad About You”) and Robin Weigert (“Deadwood”) will star as Joseph Bankman and Barbara Fried, the father and mother of Sam Bankman-Fried. Platt, Reiser and Weigert will appear in recurring roles.

Lena Dunham to Write Sam Bankman-Fried Movie for Apple, A24 Based on Michael Lewis Book ‘Going Infinite’ (Exclusive)

Apple and A24 are in early development on a film adaptation of the Michael Lewis book “Going Infinite: The Rise and Fall of a New Tycoon” with Lena Dunham attached to write the script, Variety has learned exclusively.

Apple Studios and A24 are co-developing and co-producing the film. “Going Infinite” delves into the spectacular ascension and equally spectacular implosion of the cryptocurrency exchange and hedge fund Ftx as well as its founder, Sam Bankman-Fried. The book was originally released in October 2023 and went on to become a New York Times bestseller.

The official description of the book reads:

“When Michael Lewis first met him, Sam Bankman-Fried was the world’s youngest billionaire and crypto’s Gatsby.
