Nice horror flick with good ending and message. This gives more spine chilling when you watch in night with full sound effects.... The environment, sound and characters opt for the chilling horror sequences.... I was waiting for the original marathi version in 5.1, but ended up watch hindi version in 5.1. The wait is real worthy to watch in 5.1 The only problem is that some of the repeated scenes and little bit predictability.

Its a well made movie in horror genre. First half follows a set template of horror movies, while the second half is a bit different. Nusrat has acted well in almost all the roles she has done yet, and it's good to see she is experimenting in non glamourous serious roles as well, and has done a pretty job at it. Overall I think the movie is good, though it is 30 mins too long. Still a good watch.

Don't lose faith watching first half. I was bored watching first half. They took more than enough time to build the characters and crrating an environment.
But second half is promising. Its worth watching.

A dark truth which is still in the society shown here, beautifully made, with good horror and it will keep your eyes wide open.
As for those with reviews asking for banning the movie, get a life seriously. The truth is still there and cant be hidden.
Would never thought but one brilliant and strong performance by Nushrratt Bharuccha, she is certainly proved her metal.
Mita Vashisht, acted superbly too and was the key element in the movie.
Dont miss this one.

First half is little bit stretched unnecessarily otherwise it's a good movie to watch. The only negative point about this movie is it's screenplay is slow paced especially in first half, and in the 2nd half it's quite gripping and plot unfold gradually. Nushrat Barucha did a splendid job here and other supporting characters also did their jobs perfectly in this entire movie. I will say, it's absolutely fine to watch it with family and friends. You will like it's 2nd half and ending as well because it have a good social message at the end with justification.

This movie is not only a suspense horror movie but at the same time it's a movie with a big social message. Nusrat Barucha has shown her finest work here. She has made u feel the emotions through her acting. Yes it was scary at so many places and this is the plus point of this movie tat made u hooked to it till the end.
Chhorii is a women centered Bollywood horror movie. Good scary music, some extremely horrible scenes and location of the village make it a good movie to watch. This movie has Illusions, superstition, mystery, and secret story. Only thing is that movie started from a different story and ended in completely different plot. This movie also revolves around misconceptions about feminine gender. Acting of Mita Vasisth is at par. Nusrat is good, if not the best. Overall, a family horror movie to watch at night with 5.1 sound system to feel the fear of the superb horrific background sound.

I'm writing this review as an audience who hasn't watched the original.
Mid way through the film you will realize, the plot is nothing new. It deals with a serious social issue related to women in villages and even cities till date. However, the way the film moves forward makes sure that you are still invested in the film despite knowing what is to come.
The setting of this film is amazing, a house in between tall grasses, perfect setting for a spooky film. But I'll be honest, there are only a few jumpscares thanks to the loud jumpscare music that helps. Once, the back story starts to unravel, the horror dissappears completely. However, the way the back story is revealed is something I really liked. That is what kept invested even after knowing what's coming .
The climax final revelations are shocking . However, the treatment is not up to the mark. You feel that impact missing solely because the last revelations are shown as mere montages and not fully fledged sequences. Had they shown a full sequence, the impact would have been much more hard hitting and emotional sadly that emotion is less , if not missing completely. Being promoted as a horror, there is not much of it.
Nushrat bharucha till date can't convince me that she is 35+. She looks so young in films and here, her role is kind of a challenging one and she's done a good job. Mita vashishth is a show stealer, from her accent to her way of talking impressed me . Rest everyone were good too.
Overall, a film that can definitely be watched its not at all a torture or any sort of thing like that . Watch it for the issue dealt with the film, watch it for performances, don't expect too much of horror or spine chilling moments and yeah, the director could have treated the climax much better.

This was a fun Indian folk horror with a pertinent and important message in their culture today. Being American and not well versed in Indian cinema, I will not be commenting on many stylistic attributes because it feels ignorant when I am not familiar with their style. I also have not seen the original. I tried to watch that first but it is not available anywhere at the moment.
And you could certainly tell this was not in the syle of a western film. The way it was shot, looked, edited... most of it in general... and I enjoyed that and found it refreshing.
I am partial to folk horror so I quite enjoyed this story. It definitely had some solid spook throughout while also leaning heavily on jump scares. Cool sfx and makeup at times as well. It's not my favorite when all the exposition takes place in the form of a drawn out monologue and that was what was done most of the movie, but it was still a good story regardless.
The acting seemed solid all around. Everyone was like, oddly attractive and put together at all times which again might just be Indian Cinema idk haha.
I think this would have been a lot more successful if it was trimmed down. There just really wasn't much of a reason for the 2hr run time. Lots of drawn out and unnecessary scenes. Still successful regardless and would recommend.

The entire movie plot was so predictable! If you want to watch go ahead and watch it but it is boring for me. I skipped majority of the part and completed it.

There was slow representation of the story. Too much repeating scene. Story was good, Different but the screenplay was not good enough. Unfortunately they failed to present the flow of the story.
But yes, It is definitely a great try to present a special notice to the society. We may call it a Digital Revolution Era, But there are thousands village in the Indian Subcontinent where women are neglected and we use them, kill them and still we hate the female childrens.
We have to change this mentality. We have to give equal rights.

A married couple in love with wife heavily pregnant decides to run as husband can't pay the money he borrowed. Run to where you ask.. The place their driver recommends to a village where noone lives.
Although it tries to showcase the ills of female infanticide ot fails in consistent story telling.

Its such a waste of 2 hours. Such horrible movie. There s absolutely nothing in the movie except a pregnant lady moving in sugarcane fields with her imagination. I don't seriously understand how can even people produce such kind f movies!!!! Not worth a star.

Background music is good. But overall cinematography doesn't give Lapachhapi like realistic horror atmosphere. Acting by Nusrat is nice. Better watch Orginal again.
If you also desire to do that, go do the same. A perfect competition to Netflix's Kaali khoohi in manners of making cheap horror genres. I'm Going to watch Virana now to cover the damage.

I was struggling to find a right way to vent my feelings about the movie which no doubt has great acting by Nusrat , Mita they have put their best efforts the background music is good every thing is fine but it feels like director is hell bent on forcing his message down our throat, the locations are apt but the soul is something which is missing .

The film ends up being a mishmash and fails to impress as a horror film, nor it brings any new perspective to a shameful social menace that is prevalent in India. The first half used a few jump scares which were totally unnecessary - those were all false alarms leaving the viewer's mind prepared for similar stuff. The first half did build some atmosphere and intrigue. The second half, however, was highly disappointing. The "revelation" is a little too early and there was nothing really scary about the incidents as the "evils" are never malevolent. The ending is also not satisfactory as any viewer would have already understood what was going on, so all those explanations did not have any surprise elements in them. The acting, however, is overall good, especially the lead actress did justice to her role and others are also quite believable. This film could have been much better, as the story had promise. For example, the revelations, instead of happening spontaneously, could have have happened based on the actions of the leading lady, thereby stressing what steps are needed to overcome the social evil being highlighted.
