Akhtar, who co-founded Excel Entertainment, is known for writing, directing and producing the 2006 box office hut Don, starring Shah Rukh Khan and Priyanka Chopra and its sequel, Don 2, in 2011. A third film in the trilogy, Don 3: The Final Chapter is currently in pre-production and will star Ranveer Singh. Akhtar reunited with Chopra in 2019 for biographical drama The Sky is Pink, which premiered in Toronto.

Stefan Richter is known for his larger-than-life yet realistic action choreography. The same is evident in action sequences Stefan designed for Ryan Reynolds and Samuel L Jackson in the 2017 Hollywood thriller The Hitman's Bodyguard and for Shah Rukh Khan in the 2011 Bollywood release Don 2.

"Anek is the biggest film of my career in terms of scale, and Anubhav Sinha is leaving no stone unturned to give the audience a huge big-screen experience with his vision. It is true that Stefan Richter has been roped in for our film. Dilwale maintained its consistent pace well on Wednesday as well, and as a result has now crossed the 100 crore mark. With 102.65 crore coming in, the film has now stepped into the 100 crore club, hence being only the fifth Hindi film this year to manage this feat. The others are:

If we’re lucky, we normally get to see superstar Shah Rukh Khan in about one major film per year. Ace action director Aejaz Gulab, has directed Ab Tak Chhappan 2, sequel to cult movie Ab Tak Chappan. The Sequel, taking forward the story of Sadhu Agashe (Nana patekar’s character in Ab Tak Chhappan), stars Nana Patekar, Gul Panag, Ashutosh Rana, Vikram Ghokhale, Mohan Agaashe, Govind Namdev, and Raj Zutshi. The film is an Alumbra entertainment production and will be distributed by Waves cinema and is slated for Feb 27th release.

Ab Tak Chappan, a cult Cop Mafia classic, was directed by Shimit Amin and had received tremendous critical acclaim and commercial success. Bollywood star Priyanka Chopra is set to join Shah Rukh Khan as co-host of Got Talent World Stage Live, an extension of Simon Cowell’s Got Talent franchise. The show, to be shot in Mumbai, will feature performances by local and international artists and be broadcast on Colors TV. Bhushan Kumar, the head honcho of T-Series, announced the acquisition of the most awaited films of the year Dil Dhadakne Do and Bangistan. After the successful endeavor with Yaariyan, Jai Ho, Highway, Shaadi Ke Side Effects, Queen, Hate Story 2, and Kick T-Series now holds music rights of Dil Dhadakne Do starring Ranveer Singh, Priyanka Chopra, Farhan Akhtar, Anushka Sharma, Anil Kapoor, Rahul Bose and Shefali Shah, directed by Zoya Akhtar. Om Puri (b. 1950), the prolific and internationally renowned Indian actor will appear at Museum of the Moving Image on Sunday, August 3, for a conversation about his career moderated by actress and writer Madhur Jaffrey. The tribute program, presented with clips of Puri’s finest performances, will be followed by a preview screening of The Hundred-Hoot Journey, in which he co-stars with Helen Mirren.

The London Indian Film Festival (Liff, July 10-17) will host a Screen Talk with the multifaceted Farhan Akhtar and a Masterclass with the award-winning Santosh Sivan at the British Film Institute (BFI) Southbank.

Akhtar has come to the world’s attention over the last decade, as multiple award winning director, producer, and actor, straddling an impressive range of roles, from long distance runners to rockstars. He also commands audiences of thousands, at his live music shows, as he continues to juggle a career as a musician and songwriter, with his incredibly successful film industry career. Our compact half-term school holidays always concentrate the minds of UK families, offering rich potential for bonanza box-office over a highly compressed time period. And so it has proved with the half-term just ended: from Friday 14 February to Sunday 23 February, The Lego Movie has taken an astonishing £19.72m in just 10 days of play, an average of nearly £2m per day. Add in the previews from the previous weekend, and the film's tally to date rises to a stonking £21.88m. That's more than the lifetime totals of the two lowest-grossing Pixar films – Cars and Cars 2 – and is also ahead of both Kung Fu Panda pictures from DreamWorks Animation.

And why not!?! 2013 marked the centenary of the Indian Film Industry. There have been celebrations throughout the world marking this landmark, and the Indian film industry celebrated in the only way it knows best by giving us some of the biggest releases in the film industry as well as many sequels, some of which were appreciated and some which left us desiring more.

Sonakshi Sinha and Saif Ali Khan starrer Bullett Raja which released over the weekend joins the UFO Millennium Club of films as it debuts in 1172 UFO digital theatres.

Singh Saab the Great and Gori Tere Pyaar Mein which released last week, screened in 404 and 159 UFO digital theatres respectively. Blockbuster of the month Goliyon ki Rasleela – RamLeela, in its third week at the theatres, screens in 325 UFO digital theatres. Krrish 3 which released close to five weeks ago continues its run in 100 UFO digital theatres.

Telugu film Venkatadri Express debuts in 79 UFO digital theatres, another recent Telugu release Masala (Come have fun), in its third week, screens in 78 UFO digital theatres while Atthaarintiki Daaredi in its tenth week screens in 76 UFO digital theatres. Telugu dubbed film Varna and Marathi film Mangalashtak Once More which released last week screen in 67 and 62 UFO digital theatres respectively. Kannada film Rajahuli screens in 55 UFO digital theatres in its fifth week.

A cricket bat signed by 32 Indian film legends such as Ranveer Singh and Priyanka Chopra is to go under the hammer on Friday 29 November at the Westbury Gallery, Westbury Hotel, Mayfair. The bat has been donated by BBC Asian Network presenter Tommy Sandhu, with all the proceeds from the sale going to the charity, Children in Need.

The auction – organised by Conferro Auctions – features Vintage Bollywood Memorabilia such as original LPs, film banners and Bollywood posters from some of the milestones of Indian film history, including Mughal-e-Azam (1960) and Sholay (1975), which were recently voted the top two greatest Bollywood films of all time.

Children in Need provides grants to projects in the UK which help children and young people who are disadvantaged. They aim to empower and extend their life choices to make a real difference to the lives of children all across the UK.

Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar who hailed over the success of the Shah Rukh - Priyanka starrer Don 2 are now a victim of legal controversy wherein the producers have been accused of criminal breach of trust.

According to the complainant, Nariman Films who have originally produced Don, they had given the rights of Don to Farhan Akhtar only till 2009. Thus, Don 2 which released in 2011 was ideally against their contract. Nariman Films therefore filed a civil suit alleging Don 2 of violation of copyright laws as elements of the original Don like the tune, characters, parts of the script; songs etc. were used in the sequel. But the case was dismissed back then owing to the fact that multiplexes and theatres had already been booked for the release.

Now with talks on for a third installment in the franchise, the game is literally on. However, away from the franchise, we hear that Srk is all set to play a Gujarati don in Excel's next venture. The yet untitled film which is currently in the scripting stage will be produced by Farhan and his partner Ritesh Sidhwani under their banner Excel Entertainment Pvt Ltd, while Rahul Dholakia will helm the directorial reins of the film. The film is expected to go on floor next year.
