Ashley's Ashes (2010)

Review by christinelamb2002

Ashley's Ashes

8/10

A movie that has heart. :)

I've never written a movie review before, but feel that I must respond to the critical review by seashel2001 because of also attending a screening of Ashley's Ashes and seeing it very differently. I agree with the good lady that the movie is "sweet" but beyond that it's great entertainment. But R-rated? Definitely not, probably PG-13. As for her view of "bordering on porn" and "not a family movie", serious adult issues are included in the dialogue, but there's no nudity, no sex, no violence, and only mild profanity – never the "F" word. Still, this is certainly not a movie for children, who would not fathom the idea of redefining one's life. The "bimbo" was obviously in the movie to make a point about the state of Bob's life before he inherited the urn. Overall, the story line in Ashley's Ashes is funny, if a bit over the top, with a great supporting cast of characters and a touching conclusion.
