Is Echo 3 Worth Watching?
Image
Echo 3 is a fast-paced action thriller series with a talented cast, released on Apple TV Plus on November 23, 2022 – but is it worth watching? Set in Colombia, Echo 3 chronicles a black ops mission to rescue a research scientist who has been kidnapped by militants. Echo 3 is based on Omri Givon’s award-winning Israeli series When Heroes Fly, itself adapted from the novel of the same name by Amir Gutfreund. Jessica Ann Collins stars as the abducted scientist alongside Michiel Huisman as her husband and Luke Evans as her brother, who both lead the rescue team.

Among its appealing attributes, Echo 3 was created by Oscar-winning screenwriter Mark Boal, who also directed three episodes including the finale. After starting his career as a journalist, Boal broke into Hollywood with his collaborations with director Kathryn Bigelow. He won the Academy Awards for Best Picture and Best Original Screenplay for his...

Téhéran (2020)
Apple TV+ Renews ‘Tehran’ For Season 3
Téhéran (2020)
Apple TV+ has announced that its International Emmy Award-winning global espionage thriller “Tehran” has been renewed for a third season, and that multi-Emmy Award nominee Hugh Laurie is set to join the ensemble cast. Created by Moshe Zonder, Dana Eden and Maor Kohn, and directed by Daniel Syrkin, season three of “Tehran” is now in production. After its global debut on Apple TV+ last summer, which featured Glenn Close, the second season of “Tehran” was hailed as “nail-biting,” “thrilling” and “one of the most suspenseful Israeli shows ever made.” Season three of “Tehran” will expand its cast with Hugh Laurie in the role of ‘Eric Peterson,’ a South African nuclear inspector. Laurie will star alongside Niv Sultan, who will reprise her widely acclaimed role as Mossad agent ‘Tamar Rabinyan,’ as well as returning stars Shaun Toub, and Shila Ommi, and new additions Sasson Gabai, Bahar Pars and Phoenix Raei. “Tehran...

Justin Theroux in Mosquito Coast (2021)
The Mosquito Coast Canceled After Two Seasons at Apple TV+
Justin Theroux in Mosquito Coast (2021)
It's the end of the line for the Foxes.

Apple TV+ has canceled The Mosquito Coast after two seasons, Deadline reports.

The series starred Justin Theroux (as Allie Fox), Melissa Georga (Margot), Logan Paul Polish (Dina), and Gabriel Bateman (Charlie).

The series got off the ground running in 2021 with a seven-episode order, but it was quickly renewed for a 10-episode second season.

It featured high-octane action as the family tried to escape the law at every turn.

Thankfully, the end of the second season gave some closure to fans who will not now see what happens next.

The plan was for the potential third season to "segue into the book itself, and the movie's search for a utopian community."

As a result, the first two seasons would have been a prologue.

Apple TV+ doesn't give viewership statistics, which isn't much of a surprise, so it's hard to tell how the...

Mark Boal Turns His Focus to TV and Latin America With Apple TV+ Thriller ‘Echo 3’: ‘We Spent a Lot of Energy Bringing Scope to It’
Image
Mark Boal has focused much of his energy as a screenwriter on interpreting the geopolitical dramas of our times in the Middle East and Central Asia. For his new Apple TV+ series “Echo 3,” the two-time Oscar winner who wrote and produced 2008’s “The Hurt Locker” and 2011’s “Zero Dark Thirty” has turned his gaze to the United States’ neighbors to the south.

The drama series, adapted from the 2018 Israeli series “When Heroes Fly,” revolves around a kidnapping of an American research scientist (played by Jessica Ann Collins) near the Colombia-Venezuela border and the rescue effort that ensues, led by her brother (Luke Evans) and new husband (Michiel Huisman) — both of whom work for a U.S. Army elite combat unit, aka special forces. “Echo 3” bowed Nov. 23 with three episodes, followed by weekly installments premiering on Fridays through the Season 1 finale on Jan. 13.

“Echo 3” marks Boal’s first series production — and it was a doozy,...
