Weirdo

With the vast majority of (excellent) shorts shown at Grimmfest being of the more supernatural variety,I was intrigued by this title sounding more grounded, leading me to discovering how weird this weirdo is.

Running into "Bully" and the "Weirdo" coming face to face on a quiet gravel road, writer/director a Ashlea Wessel unleashes a brittle, dead-eyed atmosphere of bone-dry, bleak chalk colours being sprayed across the road as Weirdo gets beaten up.

Initially appearing clear over who is the bully and who is the weirdo, Wessel whip-pans a gloriously grim twist,which slices into the nihilistic mood from being bullied.
