Catchy intro and tune, the actual series....Not that great.

The series theme song and the intro is great, probably in the "Christmas series top 3", the actors are good, especially the kids , and the filming has a definite tone. So it's kinda regrettable that the manuscript sucks. There are several problems, but the major one being that this a dance movie and nobody really dances. I don't know why you recruit the royal danish ballet companies youth division for a Christmas series and don't let them dance, but I suspect budget may play a part.

Gripping story and performances

We're watching every episode together in our family, and we're completely hooked.

At first the story seemed very realistic and a bit too harsh for a Christmas story, but appearances are deceiving, and Christmas magic shows up in funny and unexpected ways.

The actors, especially the children, act so well. Several scenes made me cry or gasp - and there are a lot of laughs.

The story is often very unpredictable and we're left hanging, desperately wanting to know what will happen tomorrow.

There's also a lot of love between the down and out father and his children and we are shown the tenderness and affection as well as the problems. Best Christmas calendar ever! Actually, best children's television in a long time.

Excellent!

I really don't understand, why so many people don't like this Christmas calendar. It is in my opinion one of the absolute best.

It has a fast pace, and brilliant character development. The screenplay is also extremely well done, and the very talented actors, who did a fantastic job making the story come to life, with outstanding acting, not only the adults, but also the children.

If there's anything that really sticks out to me, in this Christmas calendar. Is it definitely the gorgeous cinematography. There's not one dull shot, in this entire Christmas calendar.

Overall a very original Christmas calendar. I don't think that it gets enough praise.

This one will be remembered!

A small Christmas miracle 🌲 Great creative storytelling combined with relatable and intelligent character development is the two fundamental reasons why this little Christmas miracle of a Christmas TV-calendar turned out so well 🎄

Chri.... What?

Lacks in cozy Christmas 'hygge'. Seems to be yet another Christmas calender series full of Copenhagen, product placement and teenage drama.

5 year olds two main reactions: scared and bored.

Merry Christmas!

God intentions, poor execution

I can feel where they want to go, but they really fail to get there. I just finished episode 7, and the funniest/best thing about the show is Martin Høgsted's character, who has only been on the screen for about 5 min. This single star is a tribute to his excellent character!

Interestingly not very interesting

It started out quite interesting, a broken family trying to make the best of everyday life, but I think it turned out quite poorly, as a result of the quite poor acting. I thought the kids were great in the beginning, and maybe they just needed time to get adjusted to acting, but it never really turned great, unfortunately... Also, in a time like this, I think DR should have thought, that people needed something more uplifting than a sick dad, living in a loft with his kids, never really knowing what they're up to, but just focusing on making a dish... I know it's an important message, and I think it's great to show all kinds of different families, but I just think families like this, and all other kinds, would have preferred a more positive, lively show, where everybody could escape from this horrible time we're in... And not be reminded of the tough sides of life, when we're at one of the toughest times in our time...
