When anime fans think of controversial anime, they often remember anime adaptations that made some questionable creative changes, or original anime series that dropped the ball. Others would even cite anime series that had turbulent productions and creations. Broadly speaking, these anime's qualities range from mediocre to terrible.

This, however, is not the case for these particular anime. These anime were good or even great. More to the point, they were loved by just about everyone who watched them. But thanks to outside controversies that were either the creators' or fans' fault, these anime fell from grace and never recovered from their abysmal reputations.

Romance continues to be one of the most popular and delightful genres in anime today, with each new year bringing in new romance stories that overlap with other genres like slice-of-life, high school, drama, fantasy, and certainly comedy. All of the biggest streaming platforms feature an impressive collection of romance anime, most of all the streaming giant Crunchyroll.

Crunchyroll might have a few gaps in its library, but otherwise, it is positively loaded with most of the best and most popular romance titles out there. Most of them are short series, and a few are quite lengthy or are a high-quality anime film that will make for cozy viewing.

Topping the charts at number one is the light novel series Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation, followed by Ascendance of a Bookworm. Don’t Toy with Me, Miss Nagatoro stands out as the only manga series’ that made it to the overall top 10.

Nagatoro and Senpai’s hijinks have delighted rom-com fans over the years, but their story is about to end soon. Recently, series creator Nanashi revealed that the Don’t Toy with Me, Miss Nagatoro manga will end in three chapters.

Given that the series has been ongoing for years now, it’s not too surprising to see it concluding soon. Plus, the fact that it has over 150 chapters means it had a great run, especially compared to other manga.

Nanashi Reveals Nagatoro Manga Is Ending in 3 Chapters

Nanashi announced on X (formerly Twitter) that the series only has three chapters remaining. This was revealed shortly after the release of Don’t Toy with Me, Miss Nagatoro chapter 151.

As such, chapter 154 will be the last entry in the series, unless of course a sequel or spinoff manga...
