Manolo Cardona and Karen Martínez in El cártel de los sapos (2008)

Trivia

El cártel de los sapos

Edit
Except for Pablo Escobar, all of the names have been changed.
The timeline of these real events goes from 1993 (Pablo Escobar's death) through the mid-2000s.
"Don Humber" (alias of Don Efra) was said to be one of the richest Narcos (if not THE richest) that ever existed in Colombia--way richer than Escobar.
Don Humber (Don Efra in real life) was married to former Colombian beauty-pageant queen Sandra Murcia. Their 1993 wedding had as musical guest Colombian pop star Carlos Vives and many other recognized artists. More than 1000 people were invited and each guest received a piece of expensive Swarovski jewelry. Millions of dollars were spent on the party.
Oscar Cadena, one of the series' main characters (actually Orlando Henao), had a great rivalry with Escobar, which he (Henao) ultimately won. He was said to be behind the assassination of the Colombian conservative-party leader Alvaro Gomez Hurtado in 1995.
