Read a review of Virgin Pockets, didn't expect too much considering that going in I knew it was low budget. Being a lifelong pool player, I was drawn to this ganre. What this film needed was a decent technical adviser. Early scene has Grace blowing chalk off a flat faced tip, adviser would have given it a radius. Most of the shots were hangers, no set up frozen trick lookin combos played, adviser would help there! Fake money laid on the table. It's OK to film real cash, I looked it up, it would have helped. Lots of the action revolves around the Erie Brewing Co. Good sponsor, product placement is prominent as well. So, get a local B grade player to advise, pay him or her with some Erie Brewing Presque Isle Pilsner,(will work for beer), bingo, much better flick. Not for pool purists, (snobs). Neat sound track though, fitting for the "bar action".
Virgin Pockets was an interesting low budget film, there's way to much of balls getting hit and dropping in pockets and there were a lot of shots that just zoomed in on the females stomachs and breasts lol the acting was pretty bad.
The storyline of Virgin Pockets was good, I just think it was poorly executed.
For a film that focused a lot on showcasing actual pool being played they did a poor job of making the games seem real, for instance one of the lead actresses makes a 9 on the break but when they show her break the 9 ball is clearly going towards the center of the short rail and not the corner pocket.
