Godspeed (2009)

Quotes

Godspeed

Edit
  • [first lines]
  • Sarah Roberts: There's a darkness bourne of the centuries, bourne of the pain that it takes to live the day. It's long lost on the ages, but it courses through everybody's blood. I guess even mine. Now, after all of this, I've come to wonder why we're so surprised when it wells up and bursts back into the light of our lives - and we've know all along, it's wrapped up in us, dug deep into the fibers of our own flesh. I'd eat it away if I could. We all would. But then, we'd only be half a person, or maybe even less.
  • Rebecca Shepard: You aren't anything more than what you are.
  • Luke Roberts: The head, the heart, and then the hand. Because thinking about it, just thinking about change without action, that changes is nothing.
  • Luke Roberts: How about you Mr. Shepard, do you believe in what you said?
  • Charlie Shepard: Most of the time. Not as much any more. Now I try to say as little as possible.
  • Luke Roberts: How others did you swindle? Not their money, no not their money but their hearts.
  • Luke Roberts: God's speed to you Charlie.
  • Sarah Roberts: The animals and the trees would understand. Rather let things as they are than try to reason something greater than all of us combined. Never for once do they ever think they're outside of nature's ways. You know they'll all eventually pass to the earth, feeds countless generations with their own bodies, one way or another.
  • [last lines]
  • Sarah Roberts: I remembered Charlie's Bible, the one he was marking in black. I wondered in I could somehow walk from here, from this point across the whole world, that Bible in my hand. Reading it from cover-to-cover. Maybe finishing what he had started. What would I be left with when I return? A word? A sentence? Maybe nothing. And then I realized, I hadn't made anything for the long journey. Never walked alone.
