This is clearly a low budget film but it had a great sense of humor with decent acting. The dialog is the strongest part with great need references. A fun film with the low quality in mind.
In the realm of low budget comedy horrors, this one is slightly above average. It's watchable, the writing wasn't lazy. The acting was fine. I'd say it par is 5, it's just a little better.
I had the opportunity to watch the 2021 movie "Super Hot", and without ever having heard about the movie, of course I sat down to watch it. I mean, the movie's synopsis did sound interesting enough, and like this could be an enjoyable horror comedy.
Initially the movie was listed as being a horror movie, but no, "Super Hot" is actually a horror comedy, albeit not an overly funny one, sadly.
Sure, "Super Hot" is a watchable movie and provided me with adequate enough entertainment. However, the movie's storyline just wasn't particularly outstanding, so it made for a somewhat lukewarm movie experience. But yeah, there was definitely some potential here, and for a low budget movie it wasn't actually all that shabby.
Now, what did work out in "Super Hot" was the character gallery, because they had some wonderfully quirky characters that were just very likeable and also very relatable. And the movie seemed to be made with an abundance of spirit by those involved.
I will say that the lead actress Kandace Kale really carried this movie quite well with her performance as the laid-back slacker nerd girl. And if Kandace Kale continues on in the acting business, she is definitely one that could go on to bigger and more successful things.
Visually then "Super Hot" wasn't great. And yeah, of course with it being a low budget movie, then of course that was to be expected. But hey, for a low budget movie, then "Super Hot" did alright, and it was by no means among the top worst of special effects movies.
While I managed to sit through "Super Hot", I was only mildly entertained. And since the movie's script and storyline was lacking that special ingredient to make it an outstanding and more enjoyable movie, I am rating writer and director Taylor King's 2021 movie "Super Hot" a somewhat less than mediocre four out of ten stars.

This movie isn't bad, but it has a few issues. There's a lot of scenes of characters just talking, or jamming along to music while driving in a car. The scenes are shot well, and the dialogue is fine, but some of the driving scenes feel like padding for run time, and to save on budget. Sure, the background in a moving vehicle is slightly more interesting than characters just sitting in a room exchanging dialogue, but it's hard to ignore the fact that these scenes likely exist for the reasons mentioned.
This movie also some of the worst sound effects I've ever heard in a movie. It's perplexing how a few of these sound effects made it into the final cut, considering the quality of the rest of the film. Firearms have all the audible punch of a cap gun, and grenade explosions are even more lacklustre. The rest of the production is competent, from acting, writing, locations, cinematography, and even the other aspects of sound design, but the firearm and grenade sound effects are noticeably poor.
Also, there's one issue with the movie that made me remove one point from my rating. Near the end of the film, a shotgun appears in a characters hands after a cut, it's fired once, and then disappears in the next scene. It's a pivotal moment in the film, and it has an impact on the plot, so I'd consider this a plot hole, and not just a continuity error. The character clearly doesn't have a shotgun, and the weapon they're holding is ineffective. Then there's a cut, and suddenly they have a shotgun, and their original weapon is gone. Cut to the next scene and the ineffective weapon is back in the characters hands, and the shotgun has disappeared. It's a jarring and obvious mistake in an otherwise competent movie, and it can't really be ignored.
Otherwise, it's an alright movie. I've seen better, and I've seen worse. If you're a fan of the horror/comedy genre, you may find the movie worth watching. Though, be aware the movie is light on both the horror and comedy elements. It's competently made on what I suspect was a limited budget, but that didn't stop the people behind the production from making an alright movie. It won't become a classic, or even a cult classic, but it's not nearly bad enough to fall into the "so bad it's good" category either.

I always laugh at reviews that give 1 star and then talk about amateur actors, directors etc. These reviews are obviously not from people who ever tried to create much, let alone a film. This piece has much more going for it than against it. Consider "Slacker" with a horror twist. I thought the casting was superb and the setting frightening, suburbia at it's worst. The writing fit perfetly into the plot premise and lifestyle of the characters. I'm so happy to find gems like this being released on mainstream sites. I'll look for all involved in future endevours.
