The Hollow Earth is a hidden world full of unique flora and fauna, including monsters like the Drownviper and Warbats. Totally original Hollow Earth creatures like Skullcrawlers and Vertacines prove that the setting is a blank slate for the Monsterverse. The Subterranean Realm introduces new monsters like Titanus Shimo and Skar King, adding depth to the Hollow Earth lore and setting up a new location.
As Legendary's Monsterverse has continued to expand, many new monsters have been introduced, along with several new locations hiding underneath the surface of the world, known collectively as the Hollow Earth. The Hollow Earth realms are the home to different species of flora and fauna, and operate under different rules of physics in some instances. The Hollow Earth Theory was first mentioned in 2017's Kong: Skull Island and ever since, each subsequent movie and TV show has ventured deeper into the mysterious territory.

With the MonsterVerse quickly building its cinematic universe into a behemoth of a franchise, so too grows the lore surrounding it. 2021's Godzilla vs Kong first took us to the Hollow Earth, Apple TV+ expanded it with Monarch: Legacy of Monsters, and now, Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire has hit theaters, diving deeper into the MonsterVerse than ever before. In addition to the roster of Titans growing longer, the mythology of the Hollow Earth takes center stage in the latest movie, with much of what was once mere theory becoming hardened fact.

Earth, the planet we all live on and must share with each other, is an amazing place full of wonders. Even now in 2024, it's wild to realize that humanity has yet to explore every inch of the planet, with a staggering percentage of the Earth's oceans having only been mapped by satellites. Although it feels like we've reached an age where there's little mystery left in the terrestrial, there still exists so much possibility on our planet before we even begin to consider other planets or galaxies beyond.
Although the theory of a hollow Earth in real life holds about as much veracity as a flat Earth, the concept has become a delightful metaphor in the MonsterVerse series of films for the exploration of new realms, continuing a tradition from classic monster movies like the original "King Kong" of adventure and discovery.

Adam Wingard's "Godzilla vs. Kong" was one of 2021's most pleasant blockbuster surprises, primarily because it represented a successful step up in filmmaking scale for the very talented Adam Wingard. More than a few eyebrows arched when the director, best known for his pulpy (and very R-rated) action and horror flicks, was tapped to referee the long-awaited MonsterVerse throwdown, but he took to the genre with gleeful ease. And, really, why wouldn't he? We were all kids once. The opportunity to make a mega-budget Godzilla and King Kong movie in one fell swoop is something many of us dreamed of as rambunctious eight-year-olds.
And it wasn't just about the kaiju combat! One of the film's most visually thrilling sequences found Kong and the Monarch team exploring the reverse-gravitational expanse of Hollow Earth (which Wingard considered his "'Star Wars' audition'). This realm,...

Warner Bros. and Legendary are hoping for a monster-sized opening weekend for “Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire” and are tapping every method possible to pull in moviegoers, including partnering with Roblox to grab the attention of its young audience so that they will sway their parents to take them to the theater.
Over the past two weeks, Warner Bros. has been engaging Roblox users via its interactive trailer for the “Godzilla vs. King” sequel, which allows players to enter the 2D video and come out in the movie’s world of Hollow Earth. The trailer then becomes playable via an obstacle course where players are joined by Suko, the Mini-Kong, while navigating through the video and collecting movie-themed crystals.

Despite audience anticipation, Godzilla X Kong: The New Empire does not include a post-credits scene or additional teases for future installments. This breaks away from the Monsterverse trend, as Godzilla vs. Kong becomes the third movie in the franchise to forgo post-credits scenes. Although unexpected, the absence of a credits scene allows the series to focus on organic storytelling for future projects.
Godzilla X Kong: The New Empire marks the fifth movie in the Monsterverse, and whether there is a post-credits scene setting up future installments is a major question. Released three years after Godzilla vs. Kong, the two major Titans of the franchise reunite to take on a new opponent. The threat that Skar King poses to the world and Hollow Earth helps Godzilla and Kong set aside their differences, learning more about how their histories overlap in the process. This all results in Godzilla X Kong's ending setting...

There is a twist with the latest offering from the now-decade-old Monsterverse, a franchise that has featured Kong and Godzilla in their own movies and then in 2021’s Godzilla vs. Kong battling each other to the death. (These monsters never really die. But you knew that). The twist this time is there an even greater threat for these iconic giant creatures to each other and the world, so instead of being on opposite sides of the ring, they team up against an evil new villain, a batshit-crazy ape on steroids named Skar King, in order to save not just Hollow Earth — where most of the action takes place in a dense rainforest — but just about everyone else.

While exploring Horizon Forbidden West’s Burning Shores, Aloy can discover a mysterious location known as the Murmuring Hollow: a new Relic Ruin with some tricky environmental puzzles to solve. Aloy could find and solve several Relic Ruins in the base game to receive skill points, Xp, and unique Ornament collectibles. The Murmuring Hollow is no different, and it has plenty of rewards for Aloy to claim.
To complete Relic Ruins such as the Isle of Spires Relic Ruin, players must solve environmental puzzles, using Aloy’s knack for problem-solving to create new paths to follow. These ruins often feature locked doors that can only be opened with hidden Key Modules and door codes pieced together from Old World datapoints. Luckily, Murmuring Hollow is a relatively simple puzzle.

After sitting through the less-than-satisfying Viking Wolf I wanted a lycanthropic film with a bit more bite to it. As it happened, I had the screener for the new film from writer/director Mark Cantu, Wolf Hollow waiting to be watched. Five minutes into it I’d already seen more gore than in the entire running time of A Norwegian Werewolf in High School as a drunken bonfire is invaded by a pack of werewolves.
A year later two things are happening. Evie and Bart Neuri are meeting with Mayor Schuzmarke about the absorption of Wolf Hollow by the adjacent town. An act caused in part by certain incidents on the Neuri’s property a year ago.

Realm, the largest independent fiction podcast network, today announced its board of advisors as well as plans to adapt several of their audio projects for television.
The board, appointed as Realm celebrated its one-year anniversary in Spring 2022, includes change makers from the entertainment, technology, and media sectors whose counsel will guide the company into the future. They are Lauren Zalaznick, who has advised Gimlet and Ira Glass’ Serial Productions; Michael Smith, NPR’s Chief Marketing Officer; Russell Binder, President of IP accelerator Striker Entertainment; and Marci Wiseman, award-winning producer and former Co-President of Blumhouse TV.
The company also announced the expansion of Realm IP into the Film/TV marketplace, formalizing deals with creatives like Wendy Calhoun (Empire), who is developing a TV adaptation of the Webby winner, If I Go Missing the Witches Did It with writer Pia Wilson; as well as executive producers Teri Weinberg and Danielle Claman Gelber (OneChicago), developing First Street, Realm’s timely Supreme Court drama; and Janet Zucker who is developing a TV adaptation of Bullet Catcher with writer Stephen Susco (The Grudge).
Realm has added several third-party content partners acquiring titles from Leviathan Audio Productions, Fool & Scholar, Observer Pictures, Storytellers Ink, and Violet Hour Media, whose show Hollow hit #2 this month on the Apple Fiction Charts.
“I’m delighted to announce this talented board of advisors with deep experience in audio, entertainment, and innovative brand building. Lauren, Michael, Russ, and Marci are exceptional leaders in their own right; their business acumen, vision and long-standing relationships will be essential to Realm’s growth as we continue to engage listeners with our award-winning, chart-topping series,” said Realm co-founder and CEO Molly Barton. “We are also truly excited about the opportunity to align with Wendy, Teri, Danielle and Janet to adapt our compelling storytelling for TV and bring some of our most popular and immersive franchises to life in a whole new way.”
Recently, Realm released the podcast Power Trip, an original dark comedy starring and executive produced by She-Hulk and Orphan Black star Tatiana Maslany with appearances by Grammy winner Lisa Loeb and Locke & Key’s Brendan Hines. Other releases include The Co-Founder, a Silicon Valley workplace comedy starring Sunita Mani and Alexandra Shipp (with vocal performances from skating legend Tony Hawk) and Marigold Breach, the cyberpunk action-romance podcast starring The Good Place co-stars Jameela Jamil and Manny Jacinto which rose to No. 2 in the fiction charts upon its debut.

I wanted to pull the curtain back just a little bit for a second and bring you something a little different. As you may know Nerdly, the website, and our fledgling – but growing – YouTube channel are proudly latched on to the Romford Film Festival, this was a relationship that came about organically through knowing filmmakers that had shown movies at the fest and being introduced to Spencer Hawken (the creator and chief) and really just digging the vibe. I would like to say I was invited to the jury and selection panel but honestly I just kinda said “Give me all the links… I’m in”. You could say I invited myself!
I have loved working on the panels and having discussions about what we should and shouldn’t show, what should be nominated and what should win. However, I and my esteemed judges don’t always agree and sometimes...
