In the wake of her latest breakup, Emily is hurt, having figured she has previously forgiven her boyfriends of too many of their all-too-obvious flaws. As such, Emily adopts a strict new code for any future romances: when she begins a new relationship, she will begin keeping a list of reasons why she might want to break up. If the list reaches five bullet points, she dumps her suitor and moves on. In the show's first episode, she begins dating a man who is assertively chaste and who refuses to have sex with her. This leads her to suspect that he may be gay and in the closet, and is merely using an affected vow of chastity to avoid sexual activity with women.

If you have been missing Emily in Paris and have been feeding your craving by watching Younger on Netflix, or any of the other romantic comedy series like Younger that we recommended, your ancillary binge-watches will eventually lead to Emily's return later this year. Netflix has officially confirmed that Emily in Paris season 5 will be released sometime in 2025!
The streaming service made the announcement in late January 2025 with the reveal of its 2025 programming slate, which included a number of fan-favorite Netflix original series like Stranger Things, Nobody Wants This, The Diplomat, Squid Game, and many more. Most of the series didn't receive release dates but were confirmed to drop at some point in 2025.
Emily in Paris season 5 hasn't yet started production as of February 2025. Back in November 2024, shortly after the release of season 4 part 2 in September, Variety shared that filming on season 5 would begin in May 2025, during the first week of the month.

After Sex and the City and before Emily in Paris, Darren Starr created a sitcom that bent norms by focusing on a 40-year-old woman who lies about her age in order to land a job years after being a stay-at-home mom. Although there's been a resurgence in projects tackling ageism and age-gap relationships — such as The Idea of Youand Babygirl — Youngerhas distilled those themes since 2015, with Sutton Foster's Liza pretending to be in her late '20s to work as an assistant at a publishing firm called Empirical.

“Paris is always a good idea,” said Audrey Hepburn in Billy Wilder’s 1954 flick Sabrina, but let’s be real—Emily in Paris has taken that idea and turned it into a Netflix cocktail that’s part chaos, part glamour, and entirely addictive. It’s like you’ve had the most delicious glass of rosé and now you’re scrambling to catch up with all the drama, romance, and French clichés that somehow feel like a breath of fresh air.
From the moment Emily arrives in the City of Lights, she dives headfirst into a pool of glitter, lattes, love triangles, and picture-perfect disasters that are just begging to be shared on Instagram.

Ever since Season 4 of Stranger Things was dropped in two parts, seven episodes on May 27, 2022 followed by the last two episodes on July 1, Netflix has been employing the split-season release strategy for some of its biggest shows.
Virgin River‘s fifth season released 10 episodes in September 2023, followed by a two-episode season finale/holiday special almost two months later. The same year, The Witcher‘s third season also came in two batches, 8 episodes and 3 episodes, almost a month apart, with The Crown’s final season divided into four-episode and six-episode installments, also four weeks apart.
In 2024, Netflix started splitting seasons in half, with the latest seasons of Bridgerton, Emily In Paris and Outer Banks all scheduled that way.

“The idea of theater has always terrified me, and it still does,” Asa Butterfield says from the rehearsal room of London’s National Youth Theatre.
The British star, famed for his performance as Otis Milburn in Netflix’s awkwardly raunchy teen hit Sex Education, has been in showbiz for a long time. After minor roles in ITV’s After Thomas (2006) and Garth Jennings’ comedy Son of Rambow (2007), Butterfield was cast at age 10 as the lead in Mark Herman’s Holocaust drama The Boy in the Striped Pajamas.

You suddenly have those inhibitions you didn’t have as a 9- or 10-year-old. You’re more self-conscious. I was starting to think about, like, ‘What am I doing with my face?...

Back in Action's many references may seem like unassuming jokes, but the quips referencing Michael B. Jordan and Creed have a semblance of meaning. By the time of Back in Action's climactic ending, the film tells a lot of jokes as an action comedy. A large portion of these jokes come at the expense of Back in Action's cast members, with Jamie Foxx and Cameron Diaz's slightly older parent characters facing the brunt of humorous insults from their children.
However, as is the case with many other modern comedies, there are several self-referential jokes too. As far as Back in Action's Rotten Tomatoes score is concerned, though, these jokes could not save the movie from mixed reviews. Nonetheless, there is a lot of humor to be found throughout the film's near-two-hour runtime, with some of the references - even the title - linking to Cameron Diaz's acting retirement.

Warning: This article contains spoilers for the TV show The Handmaid's Tale.Emily, the quietly defiant Handmaid brought to life by Alexis Bledel in The Handmaid's Tale TV series, is a character who resonates deeply with audiences. Unlike her book counterpart, the nameless Ofglen, the show granted her a distinct identity, making her a pivotal figure in the resistance. Her journey, marked by both resilience and heartbreak, culminated in a seemingly triumphant escape to Canada.
However, Emily's sudden disappearance in season 5 left a gaping hole in the narrative. While the show hints at her return to Gilead to continue the fight, this sudden departure feels unsatisfying for a character who has endured so much. The series is one of the biggest TV shows returning to screens in 2025 and expectations are high. Now The Handmaid’s Tale Season 6 holds the potential to rectify this by providing Emily with a more fulfilling conclusion,...

As much as the horror genre is appreciated around the world, it happens, from time to time, to underestimate the artistic value behind it. The immediate thrills in these movies; blood-curling plot twists, jump scares, and shocking finales - tend to overshadow other elements, one of these being the intense performances within them.
Nevertheless, a few powerful portrayals managed to steal the scenes and become career-defining moments for some horror movie actors. They earned the recognition they deserved. For instance, few would claim that Jack Nicholson's unhinged performance in The Shining is underrated. However, many others, for various reasons, have fallen victim to the genre’s tendency to overlook its quieter elements. These performances, despite being captivating and intense, have been buried either under the films' exterior spectacle or shock factors. As a consequence, they remain underrated gems of horror films.

Known best for its incredibly detailed conspiracy theories, its zany monster-of-the-week episodes, and its exceptional leads, The X-Files isn't exactly a show you think back on when it comes to the holiday season. Sure, like seemingly every genre show, there's a Christmas episode or two, but they aren't usually your first picks when it comes to sitting around and watching some holiday cheer by the fireplace. Although fans often flock to "How The Ghosts Stole Christmas" as their go-to Fox Mulder (David Duchovny) and Dana Scully (Gillian Anderson) holiday adventure, there's a Season 5 two-parter that was infinitely more intricate and tackled a darker subject matter: "Christmas Carol" and "Emily." This is not your usual Christmas carol, but it's a holiday-themed tale that takes a deeper look into Scully's psyche, one well worth exploring.

In January 2025, Netflix welcomes a small handful of recent small screen favorites like TV Land's rom-com Younger and the newest spinoff from The Walking Dead universe coming to Netflix for the first time, and in another case, a time-tested hit procedural will see its earliest seasons returning after being removed months prior.

Here’s our review of Emily Dhue’s short film Bill, which screened as part of HollyShorts Film Festival in London.
Emily Dhue’s Bill finds an oppressed woman preparing the perfect steak dinner for her husband. Unfortunately though, her husband is a bit of an arsehole, to put it mildly, stopping her from seasoning her food while piling on the salt on his and suggesting all the various lifts and tucks his wife could get to meet her “potential”. How lovely.
Well, this particular dinner is the last straw that breaks the camel’s back and the wife finds herself murdering her husband in a fit of rage. The problem is, now she has no husband but she’s clearly a problem-solver, turning him into a puppet she can control and love.

The hit Netflix rom-com series Emily in Paris made its triumphant return with season 4 in August 2024, and now the series has scored a renewal for season 5. Debuting in 2020, the show follows a young American named Emily as she moves to Paris to work for a high-end marketing firm. Throughout Emily's first few years in the French capital, she found love, heartbreak, and more than a few romantic twists and turns, and it's clear that Emily's path toward true love is anything but easy.
Emily in Paris season 4 was split into two parts, which also created a natural crescendo at mid-season that had an impact on part 2. Emily's will-they-won't-they with Gabriel took the next step as the couple declared their love officially, but they were back on the outs by season 4's finale. Casual moviegoers might be familiar with Denis Villeneuve for the Dune franchise, but the filmmaker has long been lauded for his depth, precision, and casting decisions in some of the most acclaimed works. Take, for example, Emily Blunt in the 2015 action thriller Sicario, where her portrayal of a determined FBI agent captivated audiences with the balancing between fierceness and fragility.

Per The Hollywood Reporter, Mackey is now the third cast member signed on to the mystery movie, joining Glenn Powell (Twisters) and Jenna Ortega (Wednesday), who were previously announced back in May and August, respectively. Emma Mackey is getting put in a mystery box.
The “Sex Education” and “Barbie” breakout is joining Glen Powell and Jenna Ortega in lead roles in J.J. Abrams’ upcoming Warner Bros. feature, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Details of Abrams’ first film since “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker” are being kept mysterious — all we really know about it is that it won’t involve time travel. It will be the box-office-dominating writer-director-producer’s first film not based on I.P. since 2011’s “Super 8.” Abrams’ company Bad Robot is producing.
Mackey is a rising star who made her debut in Netflix’s comedy series “Sex Education” in 2019. She earned a BAFTA nomination for her performance as entrepreneurial high school student Maeve Wiley in the hit series. She also appeared in “Barbie,” the biggest film of 2023, as Physicist Barbie, a role that played up her physical resemblance to Margot Robbie.
