Darren Star is on board to adapt Elaine Goldsmith-Thomas’ Climbing in Heels novel as a drama series for Peacock.

Star and Goldsmith-Thomas, a producing partner to Jennifer Lopez and president of Lopez’s Nuyorican Productions, will co-write and executive produce the series as part of an overall deal with Universal Television.

St. Martin’s Press will publish the Climbing in Heels novel on April 29, 2025, and Darren Star Productions and Egtv Productions will produce the TV drama.

Veteran TV creator Star has hit credits that include Sex and the City, Emily in Paris, Beverly Hills, 90210, Younger and Melrose Place. His overall deal with Universal Television has Star developing and producing new series exclusively for the studio via his banner, Darren Star Productions.

Deadline has reported Lucien Laviscount will be returning for Emily in Paris season 5 and not just in a guest role. Per the report, Laviscount is returning as a series regular which seems to hint we hopefully will be seeing more of British transplant Alfie in the next season.

The actor will return to the Netflix comedy as a series regular after being downgraded to recurring last season due to scheduling reasons, our sister site Deadline reports. Laviscount was promoted to regular for Season 3, then only appeared in four episodes during Season 4, which ended with his character Alfie revealing to his ex Emily that he had a new girlfriend and him encouraging Gabriel to go after Emily.

Netflix is working on the upcoming fifth season of Emily in Paris and it has been confirmed that Lucien Laviscount will be back as a series regular, though Lucas Bravo‘s status is still unknown.

Couture on Tour: An Emily in Paris Experience will combine the fashion and dreamy Parisian scenery of the Netflix comedy series for a unique sidewalk-to-stage event from Atomic Venus Media and Paramount.

The show is inspired by the work of costume designer Marylin Fitoussi, whose designs will take the stage during the experience. A recent report confirmed that Emily in Paris is still set to film in Paris, France when season 5 begins production in the first week of May next year.

The series will also be partly shot in Rome, Italy given that the titular character will be living there when we see her at the beginning of the next season.

Emily in Paris season 5 now has some major updates, including the filming start window and Lucas Bravo's potential return as Gabriel. Now, Variety revealed that Emily in Paris is coming back to Paris for its upcoming season, although it will also film in Rome, where the titular character left off in the season 4 finale. Filming is set to begin in the first week of May next year with its usual key crew.

Gabriel will appear in the next season of Netflix’s Emily in Paris — despite the fact that portrayer Lucas Bravo recently grumbled to the press about his character having “slowly turned into guacamole.”

Per The Hollywood Reporter, Mackey is now the third cast member signed on to the mystery movie, joining Glenn Powell (Twisters) and Jenna Ortega (Wednesday), who were previously announced back in May and August, respectively. Mackey's role is being described as "the female lead," although the casting report goes on to state that Powell, Ortega, and Mackey will make up the movie's "trifecta of leads," which suggests that Ortega's role in the movie will be just as substantial as Mackey's.

Details of Abrams’ first film since “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker” are being kept mysterious — all we really know about it is that it won’t involve time travel. It will be the box-office-dominating writer-director-producer’s first film not based on I.P. since 2011’s “Super 8.” Abrams’ company Bad Robot is producing.

Mackey is a rising star who made her debut in Netflix’s comedy series “Sex Education” in 2019. She earned a BAFTA nomination for her performance as entrepreneurial high school student Maeve Wiley in the hit series. She also appeared in “Barbie,” the biggest film of 2023, as Physicist Barbie, a role that played up her physical resemblance to Margot Robbie.
