This Is Ethan Hawke's Worst Movie, According To Rotten Tomatoes
Image
Most of the time, Ethan Hawke is an indicator of quality -- or, if not that, then an ambition to make something meaningful. He's always taken the craft of acting seriously (something that spurred a good-natured war of attrition between him and Robin Williams while filming "Dead Poets Society"), but he's not haughty about it. He played a vampiric hematologist for The Spierig Brothers in 2009's "Daybreakers" and even joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe with his role as an Ammit-worshipping weirdo who pours glass shards in his shoes for "Moon Knight." Also, let's not forget that time he decked himself out in garish accessories to play the incredibly-named Jolly the Pimp in Luc Besson's eye-popping space opera "Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets" (a reminder that bad people can make spectacular art).

Alas, 2013's "Getaway" is the rare occasion where it's hard to imagine Hawke having signed...

Exclusive Interview with Director Seth Grossman for ‘Inner Demons’
Reality television shows can take a wrong turn into horror especially when a demonic possession is involved.

From former reality TV producer Seth Grossman, “Inner Demons” follows an intervention-style reality show crew trying to film a sixteen-year-old girl fighting a drug addiction. However, she was suffering from something even more destructive—a demonic possession. The movie is an inquiry into the truth about her—with symptoms between the disturbing and scary intersection of insanity, addiction and true possession.

The film stars Lara Vosburgh and Morgan McClellan.

Latino-Review was granted an exclusive interview with Grossman to discuss the production of this horror film. We talked about the young actress, the worlds of addiction and demonic possession and even relating the behaviors of hyenas to demons.

“Inner Demons” is playing in select theaters and available on VOD today.

Read the full interview below.

Laff 2014: Exclusive Interview with Lara Vosburgh and Director Seth Grossman for ‘Inner Demons’
Following a similar path with “Paranormal Actvity" start at a film festival, the movie “Inner Demons” revives the found footage horror films at the Los Angeles Film Festival this year.

The truly scary movie takes a different tact with an intervention reality television show trying to save a young girl from drug abuse. Unbeknownst to the production crew, family and rehab center, the girl is actually possessed by an evil spirit trying to get out.

The film marks the first starring role in a feature film for Lara Vosburgh. It is directed by Seth Grossman (“The Butterfly Effect 3: Revelations”).

Latino-Review had an exclusive sit down interview with Vosburgh and Grossman after their screening at the film festival. We discussed the idea of found footage, horror movies in general and the challenges in acting and makeup.

Read the full transcript of the interview below.

Comic-Con 2011: TV and Movie Panels and Screenings – Update #4
If past years are any indication, Comic-Con will begin releasing its official 2011 panel schedule later today (Wednesday) with the schedule for Preview Night, Wednesday, July 20. If that happens then we can expect them to follow suit for the rest of the days, so that Thursday will see the release of the Thursday of Con schedule, etc., through Sunday.

Once the official schedules are posted these “TV and Movie Panels and Screenings Updates” will be scaled back to just the date, time, title, and location, since the rest of the information and So Much More (including comics panels, autograph signings, etc.) will be available on the Comic-Con schedule link we’ll provide. Consider this, then, the last of the extremely long posts, and hopefully we’ll be getting that official schedule soon.

Hmm, here’s an interesting matchup: Glee will be in Hall H on Sunday at 10:00; Supernatural will be...

Comic-con 2011: TV And Movie Panels And Screenings – Update #2
The second update but absolutely not the last. We have yet to hear from the major networks, Syfy, TNT or USA about their panels. More to the point, we have yet to hear from Comic-Con, at least as to the official schedule.

It likely only took that long because only a certain number of people could be purchasing at one time. Returned one day tickets will go on sale shortly; if you’re interested in attempting to be amongst the lucky few who will achieve tickets, you must be following Comic-Con on Twitter for the latest updates

Information added to this update includes Locke & Key, Dexter, Shameless, Homeland, Archer, Wilfred, It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Sons of Anarchy, Shark Night 3D, Haywire, The Raven, Immortals, Thanks to THR...

Prepare for More Underwater Terror with Shark Night 3-D
Underwater dangers seem to be back in demand these days (movie-wise, that is). We had Piranha 3D earlier this month, along with its proposed sequel in development, and now news hits that Shark Night 3-D is moving forward in production. Those unfamiliar with the project might ask, "Who would be directing a film called Shark Night 3-D?" Well, it's none other than Snakes on a Plane director David Ellis. With a resume that also includes two of the Final Destination films, Ellis certainly has a handle on creative deaths and gore, which makes him a perfect fit for the material. Casting for the film has already begun as several of the lead actors have been announced. Sinqua Walls (Friday Night Lights), Chris Carmack (The Butterfly Effect 3: Revelations), Alyssa Diaz (Red Dawn), and Joel David Moore (Avatar) will play some of the young men and women who "spend a weekend...

Spotlight: Revelations about Ádám Balázs
I wish I had the chance to interview more compatriot composers here, but fact is there are very few Hungarian film composers I could talk to. Adam Balazs is one of them - although he lives in Los Angeles, he recently completed his first score to a Hungarian movie: Szíven szúrt ország is a documentary about the murder of a handball player whose tragic death brought forward many unresolved issues within the country. In addition to this new documentary, Ádám's new movie The Butterfly Effect 3: Revelations will have a soundtrack CD released pretty soon, which is a first for the composer (although several of his scores are available through download options). We discussed these and a number of other projects in the following interview:

How did your interest in music begin?

I grew up in a fully musical environment — my father is a distinguished classical composer and before her retirement,...

Magdalena Movie Promises To Be Like Da Vinci Code, but with More Action
One upcoming comic book-movie adaptation that we haven't had any news of lately is an adaptation of the Top Cow title Magdalena. But thanks to MTV, we just got an update from the screenwriter herself.

The movie already has a cast, a writer, and a director. Magdalena chronicles the adventures of a direct descendant of Mary Magdalene named Patience, who protects the world against evil using a variety of supernatural powers. Writing the script is Holly Brix (The Butterfly Effect 3: Revelations) and set to direct is Japanese filmmaker Ryûhei Kitamura, who made his Us debut with The Midnight Meat Train. Set to star as Patience is Step Up actress Jenna Dewan, along with Luke Goss as her mentor, Kristof.

Even though Brix hasn't officially begun writing the script, here's her take on how the movie will go:

Obviously, I read all the comics and we talked about different versions of the story,...

Exclusive: 'Magdalena' Screenwriter Weighs In On Story, Cast, Comparisons And More...
Last we heard from the "Magdalena" camp, the upcoming adaptation of the Top Cow property had landed "Midnight Meat Train" director Ryûhei Kitamura to helm the project, with "The Butterfly Effect 3: Revelations" writer Holly Brix penning the screenplay.

Chronicling the adventures of a direct descendant of Mary Magdalene who protects the world against evil using a variety of supernatural powers, "Magdalena" already has its stars in "Step Up" actress Jenna Dewan (playing the heroine, Patience) and "Hellboy II" actor Luke Goss (playing Patience's mentor, Kristof). Last year, we featured a week of video interviews with Dewan (we've embedded some of them in this post), and now we thought we'd check in with the new "Magdalena" writer to see where the project's at these days—and where she's planning to take it.

MTV: Where is the film at right now? Where are you in the process?

Holly Brix: Right now,...

Before Jen begins the rigorous training she will have to go through for the film, she is accompanying Chan on his current 'G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra' around-the-world press tour.

Via her new official Twitter Jenna let us know from London this morning that Japanese director Ryuhei Kitamura ('Midnight Meat Train') has now been chosen to helm 'Magdalena', and feels that "he is such a unique visionary".

Reel Advice: The Butterfly Effect 3: Revelations
Okay, this is the part where I start sweating bullets. I'm not a hundred percent sure I've found the dog of the After Dark Horrorfest yet, and if it's going to happen anywhere, it's probably going to happen here. This is the one no one saw coming, the third iteration of a movie that was a vastly worse result than its good idea implied it would be.

See, I love time travel stories. Call it personal bias, but I love, Love!, seeing what happens when you change something about the past. It's amazing how much of what we know about our lives depends on so very little. Just alter one thing and suddenly the entire world you know is different, the chain of cause and effect wrapping around your entire life to affect everyone you've ever come in contact with, and everyone They've ever come in contact with and so on,...

Phoenix’s Mike Medavoy, Arnie Messer and Brad Fischer and Zodiac scripter James Vanderbilt will produce. Phoenix first acquired the screenplay over six years ago and had previously attached Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning’s Jonathan Liebesman and Belgian filmmaker Erik Van Looy to helm; Langenegger previously directed the Ewan McGregor/Hugh Jackman-starrer Deception. Premiere of AFTER - Courtney Solomon
The third edition of After Dark Horrorfest, dubbed "8 Films to Die For," will take place in theaters nationwide on Jan. 2-9, After Dark Films CEO Courtney Solomon announced Wednesday.

The latest addition to its 2008 lineup is Phedon Papamichael's "From Within," starring Elizabeth Rice, Thomas Dekker, Kelly Blatz, Laura Allen, Adam Goldberg and Rumer Willis. The film, which premiered at this year's Tribeca Film Festival, is set in a small community hit by a rash of suicides.

After Dark Films has produced three of the films that will be featured in the Horrorfest: Stewart Hopewell's "Slaughter," Craig Singer's "Perkins 14" and Seth Grossman's "The Butterfly Effect: Revelation."

New Director, Cast and Title For Third 'Butterfly Effect'
We originally reported that Anthony Leonardi was in talks to get behind the camera for the third Butterfly Effect film... sometimes it doesn't always pan out. We learned this afternoon that Seth Grossman will direct the newly titled Butterfly Revelation (Butterfly Effect: Revelation) for After Dark Films. We were also tipped off that Chris Carmack will topline as Sam Reed in the film, which was written by Holly Brix. But, in order to save an innocent man from the death chamber, Sam travels back to try and track the real killer of an old love -- and winds up ripping a hole in the fabric of the past and unleashing a vicious serial slayer on an unsuspecting world.
