Kanon was based upon a Visual Novel of the same name. It was developed by Key, a subsidiary of Visual Art's co., ltd. It was Released in 1999 on the PC as an Adult game, but later versions were made for the Sega Dreamcast, PlayStation 2, and PlayStation Portable.
During the farewell party, you can read 'Clannad' on Kitagawa's shirt. Clannad (2007) was also produced by Key/Visual Art's.
