La Grande Bataille des fleurs (2020)

La Grande Bataille des fleurs

How Much Of Netflix's Show Instant Dream Home Was Real?
Image
Instant Dream Home was a unique twist on home makeover shows, completing renovations in just 12 hours. Viewers expressed skepticism over the show's authenticity, questioning the durability of prefabricated designs. Despite criticisms, the cast of Instant Dream Home reassured fans on social media, emphasizing teamwork and dedication.

Netflix's Instant Dream Home is a home makeover show that featured a twist (all renovations were completed in 12 hours), and initially, that timeline seemed too challenging. Anyone who thought the cast looked familiar would have been correct, as almost everyone has appeared on TV. Host Danielle Brooks starred in the popular Netflix scripted Orange is the New Black series. Adair Curtis was on the popular renovation show Hollywood Styling, Paige Mobley appeared in America’s Next Top Model, Nick Cutsumpas was seen in The Big Flower Fight, and Erik Curtis was the only newcomer.

Home improvement shows are hardly new, but Instant Dream Home broke all the previous rules.

‘The Big Flower Fight’ Review (Netflix)
Image
Featuring: Natasia Demetriou, Vic Reeves, Kristen Griffith-Vanderyacht

I really support the wide range of reality competition television shows that showcases different areas of creativity such as glass blowing, baking and specifically for this review, flower arranging! Shows like The Big Flower Fight can only benefit these forgotten art forms and raises awareness of them which is great to see while at the same time making the shows themselves super unique.

The first thing I noticed about The Big Flower Fight was that it is clearly pitched to a very mature and sophisticated audience, as these incredible flower arrangements are synonymous with the high society. This is not a problem as people who are unfamiliar with this lifestyle can easily watch and enjoy the show… but there is a level of “poshness” to all of it! The most confusing part of this is that the show seems to try and balance...

Netflix Bolsters U.K. Entertainment Formats Team with ‘The Circle’ Executive Producer Daisy Lilley
Image
Netflix is bolstering its global entertainment formats team, hiring “The Circle” exec producer Daisy Lilley to work out of its London office, Variety has confirmed.

Lilley has joined Netflix as a manager in its London-based operation, working closely with former ITV commissioner Ben Kelly.

She reports in to Sean Hancock, Netflix’s U.S.-based director of unscripted originals, and will be responsible for ordering global entertainment formats out of the U.K.

Netflix has stepped up its commissioning of entertainment formats out of the U.K., and recently enjoyed success with “Too Hot to Handle,” a reality dating competition produced by Fremantle-owned U.K. entertainment label Talkback. On May 18, Netlfix also launched “The Big Flower Fight,” produced by the U.K.’s MultiStory Media.

Netflix has also commissioned U.S., Brazilian and French versions of Studio Lambert format “The Circle,” which Lilley developed and then executive produced.

In October,...

Netflix Added 15 New Movies And 3 New Shows Today
Image
Netflix has been churning out substantial updates to its content library during the ongoing pandemic, and May has been a wonderful month so far filled to the brim with heavy-hitters like District 9, an Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt special, and the unexpectedly popular The Wrong Missy. Not to mention the arrival of Space Force (check out the awesome new trailer above) next week.

That’s a trend that continues today, as this latest drop looks to add plenty of new titles to the list. And although none of them are massive blockbuster movies or genre-defining shows, it’s a pretty good collection for a mid-month drop.

To begin with, Patton Oswalt: I Love Everything sees one of the world’s favorite comedians tackle everything from how breakfast cereal gets more serious as you get older to deeper dives into love, loss, and raising children. If you’re in the mood for some good laughs,...

Is Netflix's The Big Flower Fight Just The Great British Baking Show With Flowers? Here's the Deal
Image

If you love the competitive spirit and friendly format of The Great British Baking Show, then it's time to get excited. Netflix is trading whisks for stem cutters and the giant tent for an epic greenhouse in its new series The Big Flower Fight.

The innovative competition show will feature 10 teams competing to design the most ornate floral bouquets and sculptures. The stakes are high: the winning team will have their creation on display at London's Royal Botanic Gardens!

The floristry series will include eight episodes hosted by comedians Vic Reeves (Coronation Street) and Natasia Demetriou (What We Do in the Shadows), with top florist Kristen Griffith VanderYacht serving as head judge. While The Great British Baking Show strictly features home bakers, the contestants on The Big Flower Fight aren't just amateur flower enthusiasts. Teams are composed of not just professional florists but also designers, sculptors, and more creatives.

Netflix Adding Over 20 New Movies And TV Shows This Week
As the lockdown continues, Netflix provides a reliable source of entertainment, including many titles you might not have considered before. While it’s probably unavoidable that you’ll still spend a lot of time browsing through the platform’s library, Netflix’s weekly collection of new content at least gives us some pointers on what to watch next. To this end, here are some of the highlights of what’s coming to Netflix this week.

On the movie side, the Bryan Cranston-starring biopic Trumbo is available from Tuesday, May 19th. The Jay Roach-directed drama looks at the life of the blacklisted screenwriter Dalton Trumbo, and his struggles against the communist witch-hunt in Hollywood during the 1950s. Cranston picked up a Best Actor nomination at the Oscars for his role in the 2015 film, which also features turns from Helen Mirren and Diane Lane.

Also out this week is The Lovebirds,...

Netflix Competition ‘The Big Flower Fight’ Debuts Trailer (Exclusive)
What We Do in the Shadows (2019)
Here’s an exclusive peek at “The Big Flower Fight,” Netflix’s new unscripted competition format which launches on May 18.

Produced by ITV Studios-backed MultiStory Media, the eight-part series sees 10 creative teams square off in a contest to create huge flower installations. The series is hosted by “What We Do In The Shadows” star Natasia Demetriou and Vic Reeves.

In each episode, the teams are tasked with creating a larger-than-life sculpture, competing to design and build the biggest, most outlandish and beautiful displays possible from flowers and other natural materials — all while staving off elimination for one more week.

With a conservationist theme, the participants are encouraged to think about plants that give back to the environment — such as pollinating, insect-friendly species.

The trailer offers the first glimpse of the 10 creative duos taking part in the competition, who come from the U.S., Denmark, U.K. and Ireland. The...
