Darth Vader has some of the most emotionally charged scenes in Star Wars canon, whether it be the various animated series, the live-action offerings, or the comics that Dinsey has been publishing with Marvel. The 2020 Darth Vader series, which received a lot of praise from fans and critics alike, holds one such moment that the franchise would be a fool to not bring over to live action.
However, trends, when it comes to Star Wars, have proven that if anything, this moment might be wiped from canon. Instead, the focus would probably be on some plot point that would rather cater to the pandering that Star Wars has decided to be party to.

Star Warshas at long last provided some context as to when Luke Skywalker's famed training remote from A New Hope was created, doing so in the children's show Star Wars: Young Jedi Adventures. Luke was famously seen training with this remote device on board the Millennium Falcon, and it has since reappeared in various places, including The Book of Boba Fett. Now, it's become a part of Young Jedi Adventure, though not without adding some key context to its origin.
In Young Jedi Adventures season 2, episode 12 "Unmasked," Kai Brightstar and his best friend, Prince Cyrus, train with the very same devices during the High Republic era, a few hundred years before A New Hope. During this lightsaber training, these remotes are specified as "new." This is important because, while the training remote has indeed been seen in other High Republic-era properties, this is the first time there's been an...

Daredevil: Born Again kicked off with a bang, and the latest episode will leave fans talking. The newest entry in the Marvel Cinematic Universe sees Charlie Cox and Vincent D'Onofrio reprise their roles as Matt Murdock/Daredevil and Wilson Fisk/The Kingpin, respectively, in a continuation of the original Daredevil series. While fans might have been worried given that Daredevil previously went through some of the most iconic Daredevil stories, including "The Elektra Saga" and even put its own spin on the "Born Again" series that the Disney+ series draws its name from, the creators pulled from various corners of the Daredevil universe to craft this latest season.
Daredevil: Born Again features plenty of callbacks and Easter eggs from both the original Daredevil series and comics, but it also features some interesting nods and references to the larger MCU and the various heroes that occupy New York. From The Punisher,...

Marvel Studios' original plan was for Daredevil: Born Again to be completely separate from Netflix's Daredevil. That meant killing Foggy Nelson off-screen, no Karen Page, and a new Vanessa Fisk in House of Cards star Sandrine Holt.
We still don't know why Ayelet Zurer would be recast and can only assume it was because Charlie Cox and Vincent D'Onofrio were the only original actors wanted for the revival.
Talking to TV Line about her return - which came as a result of Daredevil: Born Again's creative overhaul - Zurer said, "I never really quite understood why they made that decision to not keep not just me but more almost all the actors but Vincent and Charlie. But I can say that when they did change the creative and decided to go back to the original cast, I was very, very happy to join."

This article contains major spoilers for Star Wars: The Acolyte episode 5, "Night," including who the unmasked Sith Lord is.
Star Wars: The Acolyte's fifth episode, "Night," was a wild one. Not only did the episode take out half the main cast, it also revealed the identity of the Sith Lord (which fans have been lovingly calling "Darth Teeth"). It's Qimir, Mae's seemingly bumbling companion who was hiding in plain sight as her Master the entire time.
However, one point from the episode stuck out to me. The creators were very careful with Qimir's wording in "Night." After Jedi Master Sol asks what he is, Qimir answers, "I have no name. But the Jedi like you might call me... Sith." He specifically seeks freedom and, "The freedom to wield my power the way I like without having to answer to Jedi like you."
He finishes his villain monologue, saying,...

Star Trek has been around for much longer than its interstellar counterpart, Star Wars, but both franchises have had an equal hand in molding the modern generation and their societal identity. With a forward-looking focus on themes such as gender, race, and politics, the franchise created by Gene Roddenberry has shaped cultural thought and in turn, has become deeply entrenched with the socio-cultural identity of our time.
Star Trek: The Original Series [Credit: NBC]
However, despite Roddenberry’s efforts, Star Trek‘s influence did not spread much further than entertainment. His desire to critique and call out the government’s involvement in the Vietnam War and the subsequent political upheavals in the country could all be found within the overarching themes of Star Trek. And yet, the series merely remains a television program born out of the mid-20th century’s space race frenzy.

Star Wars actor Manny Jacinto's dream role is a character in an incredibly popular manga. Over the past two decades, live-action adaptations of books, graphic novels, and video games have become some of the most popular television shows and movies of the moment. Whether it's the incredibly successful Harry Potter series, the Marvel Cinematic Universe, whose comic book origins helped pave the way for countless other cinematic universes, or successful television shows like The Last of Us, adaptations have become a clear source of success for studios. However, adaptations of anime and manga (Japanese comics) have proven more difficult. Now, Jacinto has revealed the adaptation he would most like to make: Attack on Titan.
During an appearance at MegaCon Orlando, Manny Jacinto talked about his career and what roles he would want to tackle in the future. This is when Jacinto brought up Attack on Titan, saying:

Surprising new third-party data suggests Lucasfilm may well have made a mistake canceling The Acolyte. Disney had hoped The Acolyte would reinvigorate Star Wars, welcoming viewers into the High Republic Era. Instead, Leslye Headland's pricey TV show - The Acolyte cost $230 million, running over-budget - became the first Disney+ Star Wars TV show to be canceled. Viewership data for The Acolyte explained the cancelation, suggesting the series had lost momentum and simply failed to bring in enough viewers.
New data from Parrot Analytics (via THR) suggest Lucasfilm may have been too hasty, however. Rather than looking purely at viewership, Parrot measure "demand" by combining that data with things like social media conversation, wikis, and search activity. Surprisingly, The Acolyte was one of the top trending Disney+ TV shows for February 28-March 6, coming second behind Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man. The trailer for Freakier Friday has arrived. The movie is a legacy sequel to the 2003 comedy Freaky Friday, which adapted the book of the same name by Mary Rodgers and followed teenager Anna Coleman (Lindsay Lohan) accidentally switching bodies with her mother Tess (Jamie Lee Curtis). The trailer for Nisha Ganatra’s “Freakier Friday,” starring Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan, has been unveiled. The film is a sequel to the 2003 comedy “Freaky Friday,” starring Curtis and Lohan as mother-daughter duo Tess and Anna Coleman.
According to a press release from The Walt Disney Company, the sequel features a “multigenerational twist,” with the film picking up many years after Tess and Anna originally swapped bodies. Anna has a daughter of her own, plus a soon-to-be stepdaughter. Joining Curtis and Lohan are returning stars Chad Michael Murray, Mark Harmon, Christina Vidal Mitchell, Haley Hudson, Lucille Soong, Stephen Tobolowsky and Rosalind Chao.

Initial viewership stats on Daredevil: Born Again's premiere suggest the show has had a strong start for Disney+, but has tracked below last year's Agatha All Along and The Acolyte. This year has been a delightful one for fans of the classic Marvel Netflix TV shows, with Charlie Cox's Matt Murdock starring in a continuation of that earlier show. Marvel has been building up to this since December 2021, when Cox returned in Spider-Man: No Way Home and Vincent D'Onofrio appeared in Hawkeye.

After The Matrix made Carrie-Anne Moss a household name, she was offered a wave of major Hollywood roles. However, at the time, the actor opted to turn them down.

It also applies a bit to the show “Star Wars: Underworld,” George Lucas’s ambitious, but ultimately scrapped live-action TV series he was developing in the years after “Star Wars: Episode III — Revenge of the Sith” hit theaters in 2005.
Little bits of information have leaked about the show over the years. One thing was certain: Per its title, it was set in the demimonde of the galaxy far, far away, among its scoundrels, and smugglers, and bounty hunters and assorted other criminals. But now Rick McCallum, the producer best associated with the “Star Wars” prequels, who...

Before George Lucas sold Lucasfilm to Disney in 2012, he was working on a handful of new Star Wars projects. One of those projects was Star Wars: Underworld, a live-action TV series which would have been set between the events of Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope. The series was axed when Disney took over the franchise, but a lot of work had already been done, including writing over 60 scripts.
However, Star Wars: Underworld wouldn’t have come cheap. While speaking on the Young Indy Chroniclers podcast, producer Rick McCallum said each episode would have cost $40 million. “I think we had over 60 scripts… like third draft scripts,” McCallum said. “These were dark [scripts]. They were sexy. They were violent. They were absolutely wonderful, complicated, challenging scripts. The problem was that each episode was bigger than the films, so the lowest I could get it down to with the each that...

Carrie-Anne Moss recently gave an interview to The Independent and said she has no regrets after pulling back from her acting career amid the skyrocketing success of “The Matrix” franchise. Moss starred as Trinity opposite Keanu Reeves and Laurence Fishburne in the Wachowski’s 1999 action classic and its two sequels, “The Matrix Reloaded” and “The Matrix Revolutions,” both released in 2003. She strategically declined major offers after the trilogy wrapped in order to become a mom and prioritize her family.
“After ‘The Matrix’ was such a big deal, I took a big, big break to have children and be with them,” Moss told the publication. “I remember being torn, having a little twinge like ‘Gosh, I’m getting offered such great things. That would be such a huge deal.’ And I was holding my baby in my arms, and I remember thinking, ‘At the end of my life, will it matter...

No fortune cookie could have predicted this, but Freaky Friday, starring Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan, has surged up the Disney+ streaming charts ahead of its long-awaited legacy sequel – that promises an even Freakier Friday – releasing in theaters this August. In anticipation of the follow-up film, Disney fans are seemingly getting their freak on once more and revisiting the 2003 body-swap comedy directed by Mark Waters.
22 years after its theatrical release, Freaky Friday is a hit again, earning a respectable slot on the Disney+ streaming charts in the United States. At the time of writing, the movie currently ranks at #7 in the streaming service's Top 10, positioned between the McU's Spider-Man: Homecoming at #6, and Avengers: Age of Ultron at #8. In fact, seven of the ten titles in the list are occupied by Marvel movies or TV shows, which makes Freaky Friday's placement stand out from the crowd, which, in this case,...

Have you been keeping up with The Acolyte? This short-lived Star Wars series that premiered on Disney+ on June 4, 2024, packed in some serious deep-cut references during its eight-episode run. Despite receiving generally favorable reviews from critics, the show famously divided the fandom and became the subject of review bombing campaigns.

Set approximately 100 years before The Phantom Menace at the tail end of the High Republic era, the series explored a respected Jedi Master investigating crimes that reconnect him with a former Padawan and reveal sinister forces at work.
Though Disney+ officially canceled the show in August 2024, creator Leslye Headland had numerous plot ideas for a potential second season that will sadly never see the light of day. As we look back at this controversial chapter in Star Wars history, let’s count down the top 10 Easter eggs that showed just how deeply The...

Daredevil: Born Again marks the return of Charlie Cox in the titular role, with the series serving as a revival of the actor’s previous small-screen foray as the Marvel Comics character. Given the previous show’s popularity, the revival was hailed as a point of comeback for the Kevin Feige-led MCU, which has fallen on relatively bad times.

While one can understand why politicians would frequently reference “The American People,” with the public more polarized and divided than at any time since perhaps the Civil War, it is one of those lazy, meaningless constructs that media should labor to avoid.
As much as we might like to think of “the American People” widely sharing key values on many issues, there is no monolithic consensus and little common ground, in the same way smaller subgroups, from race to gender, do not always see eye to eye however much polls and pundits attempt to group them.
Or, for a narrower but quite enlightening example, just ask “‘Star Wars’ Fans.”
Now, one might think “Star Wars” fans would be a fairly harmonious group, united as they obviously are by a love for all things “Star Wars.” Yet as we’ve seen through recent years, identifying what “the fans want” has flummoxed Lucasfilm,...

The latest Marvel series, “Daredevil: Born Again,” has made a powerful entrance on Disney+. Launched on March 4, 2025, the show quickly grabbed attention, pulling in 7.5 million views within its first five days. Disney+ counts a view as the total time streamed divided by the episode’s runtime. This strong start marks it as the platform’s biggest premiere of the year so far.
The series brings back familiar faces from the earlier Marvel-Netflix “Daredevil” show. Charlie Cox stars as Matt Murdock, a blind lawyer who fights crime at night as Daredevil in New York’s Hell’s Kitchen. Vincent D’Onofrio returns as Wilson Fisk, the feared Kingpin.
Other returning actors include Deborah Ann Woll as Karen Page, Elden Henson as Foggy Nelson, Wilson Bethel, Jon Bernthal, and Ayelet Zurer. Newcomers like Margarita Levieva, Zabryna Guevara, Nikki M. James, Genneya Walton, Arty Froushan, Clark Johnson, and Michael Gandolfini join the cast,...

Marvel’s latest TV offering, ‘Daredevil: Born Again’, hit Disney+ with a thud instead of a bang. We’re talking about Matt Murdock, the blind lawyer turned vigilante, back in action with Charlie Cox slipping into the red suit once more. It’s a gritty reboot of the Netflix series that fans loved, but the numbers? They’re not screaming success. In its first five days, it pulled in 7.5 million views. Decent, sure, but when you stack it against other recent Marvel and Star Wars shows, it’s looking a little weak.
Let’s talk comparisons. ‘Agatha All Along’, that quirky WandaVision spinoff with Kathryn Hahn chewing scenery as the sassy witch Agatha Harkness, racked up 9.3 million views in seven days. That’s nearly 2 million more than ‘Daredevil: Born Again’, even with two extra days to count. Then there’s ‘The Acolyte’, the Star Wars series with lightsabers and lesbian...

Daredevil: Born Again has come out of the gate swinging, landing the best debut on Disney+ of the year. A continuation of the Daredevil series that aired from 2015 to 2018, Born Again was one of the most anticipated MCU Disney+ series in some time. Despite claims of Marvel fatigue or that the MCU has not been as good since Avengers: Endgame, there is no denying that most audiences were excited to see Daredevil rejoin the Marvel Cinematic Universe and even the most skeptical fan might have been curious to check out Born Again.
The Wrap reports that Daredevil: Born Again debuted to 7.5 million views globally in its first 5 days of streaming on Disney+ according to internal streaming figures from Disney itself. What's the deal with "Star Wars"? I mean really, what's going on over there? It's now been over half a decade since the franchise last hit cinemas with a new movie, and even the recent Disney+ shows have been struggling. Despite reportedly solid ratings for series like "The Acolyte" and "Skeleton Crew," combined with some significant critical praise in the case of the latter, it seems that the money just hasn't been lining up. Part of that is due to the ever-tumultuous nature of the streaming business, but part of it also has to do with a lack of unified direction when it comes to "Star Wars." Thankfully, I have a plan to fix it. A little backseat billion-dollar franchise management never hurts, right?
First things first: Effective immediately (by which I mean the moment "Andor" Season 2 is finished), we are blacking out anything set during the prequel trilogy, the original trilogy,...

Disney is ramping up the promotion for Andor Season 2's release on April 22, including giving fans a chance to see it for the first time on a streaming service other than Disney+. Premiering back in 2022, Andor is one of the most well-received Star Wars shows in recent memory, and was lauded for its mature themes and grittiness, as well as its tremendous performances from the likes of stars Diego Luna, Kyle Soller, and Stellan Skarsgård.
Per What's on Disney Plus, Andor Season 1 is now available to stream on Hulu, and the first three episodes are also available on the Disney+ YouTube channel in their entirety. This is only for a limited time, however, and will end on April 22, the same day the first three episodes of Season 2 premiere on Disney+.

As a Star Wars fan, there's undoubtedly at least one line from Episode III - Revenge of the Sith that you're obsessed with. From the heartbreaking to the tragic, and iconic, Revenge of the Sith is the most quotable film in the Star Wars franchise.

Over the past 40 plus years, the Star Wars universe has played host to some phenomenal talent. Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, and Harrison Ford kicked off the franchise with A New Hope way back in 1977. Since then, Peter Cushing, Christopher Lee, Ewan McGregor, Natalie Portman, Oscar Isaac, Samuel L. However, one actor you might have completely forgotten appeared in Star Wars is John Lithgow. Not only did the Third Rock From the Sun star become part of the Star Wars universe, he played none other than Master Yoda.

Daredevil is back and it’s good to have him. The “Street-Level” shows Marvel produced for Netflix in the 2010s gave us some of the best superhero TV of all time, particularly “Jessica Jones” and The Man Without Fear’s brutal first run.
This Disney+ sequel, appropriately titled “Daredevil: Born Again,” seems a smidge less dark and violent. That could just be because what is essentially the series’ fourth season is nine episodes long instead of earlier incarnations’ 13, which leaves less time for Charlie Cox’s blind Defender with the heightened other senses to break limbs and suffer the lacerations his Catholic guilt drives him to seek out.
But fear not. There are extended beatdowns and gory murders in each new chapter. The real punishment this time around, however, is meted out to the rule of law and political decency in New York City. With endless parallels to what’s going on in Washington D.

In a move reflecting the current state of Disney's efforts across both streaming and theatrical releases, Walt Disney Animation Studios will no longer be pursuing longform streaming content, as revealed by The Hollywood Reporter. As a result, the "Tiana" animated series, which has been in development for half a decade, has been canceled. The show would have seen Anika Noni Rose reprise her role from 2009's "The Princess and the Frog."
The change in mission isn't exactly shocking. It's widely known that Disney+ has struggled to make the money work on high-budget streaming originals, from live-action "Star Wars" shows to animated projects from Pixar. "Moana 2," in particular, was infamously meant to be a Disney+ series before it evolved into a theatrical film -- and given that movie's billon-dollar gross, coupled with the massive box office success of Pixar's "Inside Out 2," it makes sense that Disney would want to...

Yet both films turned into cult classics, with fans obsessed over the neon-lit world of The Grid, and Daft Punk’s legendary soundtrack. Now, Disney is bringing the franchise back with Tron: Ares, the long-awaited third installment.

It's easier to move on from people and situations we've outgrown than to try to change them.
The same logic can be applied to Star Wars, which suddenly seems too childish for some fans who grew up with it. Just because certain fans need foul language, graphic content, and sex to feel like they're watching something for grown-ups, doesn't mean Star Wars has to change to please them.
George Lucas has repeatedly gone on record and said Star Wars was always meant for children. He wanted to create a story that inspires kids, gives them hope, and shows them how to face life. That's why Luke Skywalker and Anakin Skywalker were so young, and had to face the harsh realities of life such as loss, betrayal, family, duty, and choices we all have to struggle with. Star Wars taught us it's possible to navigate these challenges, and love and hope will always prevail,...

The Force embodies inner struggles in Star Wars, symbolizing the conflict between light and dark; it reveals characters' moral dilemmas and drives their fateful decisions. The most pivotal aspect of Star Wars is, without a doubt, The Force. Working as the central spiritual connection of its universe, binding all living things together. Both Jedi and Sith alike are able to manipulate it as tools for either peace or destruction. Despite being the central piece holding the Star Wars narrative together, much of The Force persists in being widely unexplained. Audiences are used to hearing philosophies such as the light and dark sides of the force, and its origins are still unknown to both audiences and inhabitants of the fictional universe, even its versatile ability to shift and being able to be manipulated is quite unfathomable. Now that Lucasfilm announced a new New Trilogy, audiences will be able to experience the...

Kathleen Kennedy may not be retiring from Lucasfilm this year after all. Hours after Puck dropped a bombshell report that Kennedy intends to retire from her position as Lucasfilm President by the end of this year, CNN spoke with an anonymous source who claims otherwise.
According to the latest update from CNN, a source familiar with the situation over at Lucasfilm stated "there's nothing there right now."
The source went on to emphasize that an announcement of Kennedy's retirement will be made "public" when "actual decisions are made."
Initial rumors claimed that Kennedy had told associates that she intends to retire by the end of 2025. Multiple Hollywood trades picked up the story, suggesting there was some legitimacy to claim.
The rumor continued to gain traction with additional reports claiming that Ahsoka and Star Wars Rebels showrunner Dave Filoni is already being eyed as her successor.

Tony Gilroy is one of those rare screenwriters who has balanced commercial viability with incredible storytelling, proving that good craft always trumps easy fixes. The filmmaker will be returning to the Star Wars franchise with the second season of Andor. I absolutely loved the first season and the teaser for the second looks incredible.
Gilroy’s return comes at a turbulent time in the franchise as Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kenney is reportedly retiring from the top spot by the end of the year. As the replacement hunt for the controversial president begins, I believe the Andor showrunner would be the perfect fit after seeing his consistency.

Ever since Lucasfilm was sold to Disney, the franchise has moved away from George Lucas’ vision but has not let go of his legacy.
