It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia’s Glenn Howerton scored rave reviews for his turn in the sitcom A.P. Bio — and the show deserved much better than an early cancelation. Since its four seasons arrived on Netflix, A.P. Bio has climbed the streaming charts to become a huge success. It’s a shame that success has come so late, because the series always struggled for viewership when it was actually on the air. In its initial run, it got canceled due to low viewership (more than once).
Howerton leads the A.P. Bio cast as Jack Griffin, a Harvard professor who’s forced to go back to his hometown and work at a high school after losing his dream job to his academic rival. This role made great use of the comedic strengths that Howerton has refined on It’s Always Sunny. Like Dennis Reynolds, Jack is vindictive and filled with rage.

Paramount Global’s streaming service Paramount+ is removing some international original content across its markets and will not debut some planned programming sourced outside the U.S. as part of the entertainment giant’s goal of “managing costs” and “maximizing content with the biggest impact,” including a focus on big U.S. studio franchises and a reduction in local, international originals.
On Wednesday, Paramount+ in foreign markets started removing such international original fare as the film At Midnight, starring Top Gun: Maverick breakout Monica Barbaro, Brazilian series Marcelo, Marmelo, Martelo, and U.K. drama No Escape.
In addition, some international content previously set to debut on the streamer across markets will not launch on it, including German thriller series Turmschatten, Italian series Miss Fallaci, which tells “the true story of one of the most controversial Italian and international journalism icons,” Oriana Fallaci and

FX has ordered a pilot for the half-hour comedy “Snowflakes.”
The project boasts an impressive lineup behind the camera. Ben Kronengold and Rebecca Shaw are the writers and executive producers, with Nick Kroll executive producing under his first-look deal with FX Productions. “Rick and Morty.” “Futurama.” “South Park.” ”Bob’s Burgers.” “Archer.” “The Simpsons.” “Family Guy.” “American Dad!”
What do these shows have in common? For one thing, they’re the Top 8 most popular adult animated comedies, according to a Ranker list that’s been voted on by 50,000 TV fans. But the shows also all premiered at least 10 years ago — and as of the writing of this article, they’re all still on the air. (“Archer” will officially conclude with a special finale event in December.)
The story of adult animated comedy arguably begins with the runaway success of “The Simpsons,” which premiered back in 1989. Since then, each successive decade has brought with it a crop of new and seemingly inexhaustible cartoon series, from “The Simpsons” and “South Park” in the 1990s, to “Family Guy” and “Futurama” in the 2000s, to “Bob’s Burgers” and “Rick and Morty” in the 2010s. Dan Harmon’s new adult animated series “Krapopolis” finally debuts Sunday evening after years in the works at Fox. The Covid-19 pandemic prompted the show’s staff to shake up virtually every step of development and production, from a virtual writers’ room to a Zoom table read.
Just before the pandemic hit the U.S. in March 2020, Fox Entertainment president Michael Thorn encouraged Harmon to dust off an old idea the “Community” creator had shared about a show set in ancient Greece, but had yet to explore.
“Dan had this idea to do a show in ancient Greece, and that was about it — that’s all we had,” executive producer Steve Levy told TheWrap. “Dan loved the world, and was a myth buff when he was a kid and really took to the stories. We were like, ‘sure, we could explore that world,’ [but] we really didn’t have anything.”

The gang on "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia" are a pretty tight-knit group with a long, complicated family history. At some point or another, most of the gang have claimed Frank (Danny DeVito) as their father, and Dee (Kaitlin Olson) and Dennis (Glenn Howerton) as twins. The cast have their own family connections too, as Olson is married to series creator and the man who plays Mac, Rob McElhenney, and the other guys have each had their spouses on the show! Charlie Day, who plays Charlie, is married to The Waitress (Mary Elizabeth Ellis), while Howerton's wife Jill Latiano made an appearance in season 5 and DeVito's wife Rhea Pearlman finally had a cameo in season 16. It's truly a family affair on "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia," and in the latest season, another member of the extended "Sunny" family made his first appearance.

Archer revolutionized animated adult fare, paving the way for shows like Rick & Morty and Teenage Euthanasia to find their audience. The untimely death of Jessica Walter halted plans for an Arrested Development reunion and an Archer homage episode. Archer created its own mythology, challenging stereotypes and mixing realities to create a deeply funny and irreverent series. Don't predict the ending, watch it yourself.
"The decadent, suave spy lit his eightieth cigarette of the day..." So begins the opening line of Ian Fleming's first James Bond novel, Casino Royale – released on April 13, 1953. How could anyone resist a guy like that? This basic, outlandish, and almost cartoonish representation of a double agent in a clandestine organization served as the firm basis for Archer, as any fanatic is aware.
Unfortunately, for long-time shout-oriented spy fare, Archer is bidding its curtain call, leaving FX and heading for reruns via streaming Hulu service.

Aubrey Plaza leads Little Demon as Laura Feinberg, an overworked and beleaguered mother of the spawn of the devil. With her co-star and supporting actor family of DeVitos, viewers and fans thought FX had a sure-fire win! But what happened to Little Demon?
Little Demon centers around Chrissy Feinberg (played by Lucy DeVito – Danny's daughter), a 13-year-old girl who discovers she's the Antichrist and his demonic powers after experiencing her first period. Although contemporary viewers were initially enthralled with the originality of this new FX enterprise, the series was pulled from Disney+ on May 26, 2023, and we'll break down the reasons why.
The Devil As a Good Guy?
Why is Little Demon a bad show? Well, it's not. Yet, if creators plan a comedy centered around Satan – it's possible that the series' language, gore, and nudity may be a bit off-putting at first to many viewers – especially those just hopping aboard.

Apple TV+’s first trailer for Strange Planet promises an absurdist take on everyday life in the animated adult series from co-creator Dan Harmon of Rick and Morty fame that is set to debut on Aug. 9.
“The bad moments will pass. Even the good moments will pass. That’s what our existence is all about,” one humanoid tells another in the teaser trailer for the series based on the graphic novel by Nathan Pyle, who is also a co-creator and executive producer.
Amalia Levari serves as the showrunner for the whimsical comedy, as it tells profound and heartfelt stories about beings on a distant planet not unlike our own. Strange Planet has a voice cast that includes Tunde Adebimpe, Demi Adejuyigbe, Lori Tan Chinn, Danny Pudi and Hannah Einbinder.
Levari, Alex Bulkley, Corey Campodonico, Lauren Pomerantz, Steve Levy and Taylor Alexy Pyle also executive produce the animated series from Apple Studios and ShadowMachine.

Exclusive: Hulu is joining the latest round of programming purges.
The streamer is pulling off a number of additional series from its service as part of Disney’s wider plan to cut streaming costs.
The company revealed last month in an SEC filing that it would take $1.5B-$1.8B in write-downs associated with removing streaming programming from its platforms and expects to remove from more its direct-to-consumer platforms in the third quarter with another $400M in impairment charges.
Deadline now can reveal some of those titles.
They include Alaska Daily and The Company You Keep, which were both canceled at ABC after one season. Both shows would normally have stayed on the service until September, or later if Hulu had struck a longer deal, but are to be removed earlier next month.
Deadline understands that, going forward, ABC series canceled after one season, as well as specials, likely will fall under a similar strategy.

The TV academy has honored voice-only performances since 1992, when six cast members from “The Simpsons” collectively became the first actors to receive Emmys for such work. The Best Voice-Over Performance category became an official non-juried one in 2009 and was then split into two categories in 2014: Best Character Voice-Over and Best Narrator. Harry Shearer (“The Simpsons”) was the former category’s first champion, having been nominated once before for the same series.
The 2023 Best Character Voice-Over ballot consists of 148 performances, which is down by 74 from last year. Seeking her third victory is Maya Rudolph, who plays Connie the Hormone Monstress on “Big Mouth.” Also in the mix are former winners Shearer, Hank Azaria (“The Simpsons”), Alex Borstein (“Family Guy”), and Seth MacFarlane (“Family Guy”).

In its current form, the Best Animated Program Emmy category allows submissions targeted at viewers aged 13 and above, while series and specials made for younger audiences are now relegated to the Children’s and Family Emmys. Potential nominees for this award are also required to have runtimes in excess of 15 minutes.
The 2023 Best Animated Program ballot list below consists of 33 entries. Per category rules, all are either one-off specials or single episodes of continuing series. Seeking their dozenth victory and first since 2019 are the team behind “The Simpsons,” who just wrapped their 34th season. Other shows hoping for repeat wins this year include “Archer,” “Bob’s Burgers,” “Genndy Tartakovsky’s Primal,” “Rick and Morty,” and “South Park.”

Disney is the latest media company to trim back content on its streaming services as part of a larger cost-reduction strategy. The move reflected a wider industry trend toward reassessing costs and strategies to increase profitability. Warner Bros. Discovery has also culled several series from what’s now called Max, while both AMC and Showtime have made similar content cutbacks.
Among Disney+’s withdrawn titles, the show “Willow” was the most popular. During the first quarter of 2023, “Willow” saw demand 14.6 times higher than the average show, according to Parrot Analytics‘ data, which takes into account consumer research, streaming, downloads and social media, among other engagement.
The more than 30 titles removed from Disney+ accounted for 1.9% of the total demand (both movies and TV shows) for the service’s offerings. Compare that to “The Mandalorian,” which at 1.3% of total demand was the most sought-after show on Disney+ during the same timeframe.

The entire media landscape is in a serious transition period right now. Yes, streaming is the future (and that is why the Writer's Guild of America is on strike right now), but that future is probably going to look more like traditional TV than anyone thought a handful of years ago.
Part of that has to do with ad-supported, video-on-demand services (AVOD) such as Tubi, which have become quite popular in recent years -- particularly for those of us who are tired of paying for any number of subscription-based services such as Netflix. But Tubi, in particular, has oddly benefited from what has been generated by other major services on the market, particularly HBO Max (before it simply became Max).

Disney made it official with an SEC filing after the markets closed Friday, confirming it would take $1.5 billion in write-downs associated with removing streaming programming from its platforms.
The number came in on the low end of a range provided by the company last month when it released its quarterly earnings. (Read the new filing Here.) Like other media companies, Disney has been looking to trim expenses in the once-fevered streaming arena, and removing programming has been one means of reaching that goal. Rival service Max, the outlet recently rebranded by Warner Bros Discovery, has also drawn scrutiny for shedding a number of high-profile titles, though the removals are part of the larger reckoning with the daunting economics of streaming. The long-promised nirvana for consumers of a nearly endless storehouse of available titles has collided with the reality of how much that costs to sustain, both in terms of technology...

You can no longer stream Marvel's Runaways on Hulu or Disney+, as the show has been removed from streaming services. It was recently reported that a purge was taking place at Disney+ with several movies and shows getting removed for the sake of cutting costs. Per /Film, it's since been revealed that Runaways has also been pulled, no longer available on Hulu in the U.S. and Disney+ internationally as it had been up to this point. As the show hasn't been given a physical release, Runaways is now inaccessible, and the news has some fans of the show feeling unhappy.
A variety of other titles have been removed by Disney+, including Willow, The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers, Turner & Hooch, The World According to Jeff Goldblum, The Mysterious Benedict Society, Magic Camp, Stargirl, Just Beyond, and many more. Arnold Schwarzenegger transforms into Maria from The Sound of Music and sings in an eerie deepfake. After winning the Mr. Olympia bodybuilding title six times, the Austrian native attempted to use his fame in a career transition to acting. After struggling to gain major roles, Schwarzenegger was cast as the titular hero in the 1982 fantasy epic Conan the Barbarian. The critically-acclaimed performance led to major roles in several blockbusters, including The Terminator, Commando, Predator, and The Running Man, securing Schwarzenegger's status as Hollywood's premier action star of the decade.
Comedian and deepfake artist Brian Monarch used Schwarzenegger's Austrian heritage as inspiration for his Sound of Music video in which he replaced Julie Andrew's head and voice with the Last Action Hero star's.

After two decades of being frozen in time, or canceled for lack of a better word, the amusing genetic copies of Abe Lincoln, Joan of Arc, JFK, and Cleopatra are ready to defrost and enter a new era of high school drama. The long-awaited revival of the early 2000s adult animated cult classic, Clone High is about to rise from its MTV ashes and mosey on over to Max (formerly known as HBO Max). The Phil Lord, Chris Miller, and Bill Lawrence-created series centers around idiosyncratic teenage clone versions of prolific historical figures dealing with interpersonal drama with each other while facing the trials and tribulations of high school. And all under the watchful eye of secret government employees, out to prepare the teens to become ruthless world leaders.

Following a recent announcement that content will be removed from Disney+, most probably didn't expect it to happen as early as a week after the announcement. Yet, here we are. A plethora of Disney+ originals, along with some Hulu programming as well, is set to be completely obliterated from existence in the coming days, with no stated plans to bring them to a medium outside of streaming as of writing.
Some of these shows and movies didn't even last a full year before facing their removal. It's tragic but not entirely unexpected, based on how other streaming services handle their content. All the following content will be pulled from Disney+ and Hulu on May 26, so watch them while you can!

In a cost-cutting move, The Walt Disney Company is removing an expansive list of content from Disney+ and Hulu. The removal of series like Turner & Hooch, Willow, and Mighty Ducks: Game Changers did not go over well with Disney+ users who were still upset by the series cancelations. News of the impending removal of the 2018 documentary Howard sparked so much backlash that Disney backtracked on their previous decision and is now keeping the title on Disney+.
Howard chronicles the life of Howard Ashman, a songwriter responsible for songs in Little Shop of Horrors, and Disney's The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, and Aladdin. Ashman, who is largely credited as a leader in Disney's Renaissance, was a gay man who lost his battle with AIDS in 1991 when he was only 40 years old. The documentary Howard will not be leaving Disney+ after all.
As part of "strategic changes" to its streaming approach, The Walt Disney Company is planning to remove dozens of titles from Disney+ and Hulu on May 26. A recently-surfaced list revealed some of the shows and specials on the chopping block. Among them was Howard, a documentary about the late Howard Ashman -- a gay, Academy Award-winning songwriter who co-wrote the music for Disney's 1989 animated classic The Little Mermaid. However, Deadline now reports that Howard is indeed staying on Disney+. "The list of titles coming off of Hulu and Disney+ next week is still being finalized," a Disney representative said. This update comes after the company faced backlash for planning to pull an LGBT-focused project like Howard mere days before the beginning of Pride Month.

To celebrate National Streaming Day, Hulu has offered an insanely low deal on the streaming platform's basic subscription.
According to TV Line, television and movie lovers who sign up for the service by May 27 will only be charged $2/month for the first three months. After the promotional period ends, the new subscribers will either need to cancel or be automatically charged the normal price of $7.99 per month.

The limited-time deal is not applicable to Hulu's more expensive and upgraded services. For $14.99/month, subscribers not only receive ad-freeing streaming, but they also can download films, television series and anime for on-the-go viewing. For $69.99/month, Hulu users can get access to over 85 live-streaming television channels, which eliminates the necessity of having a cable subscription for those who enjoy having the ability to channel surf.

Disney is going there, you guys.
As previously teased during the company's quarter one earnings call, the company is purging several titles from its streaming services, Disney+ and Hulu.
The practice has become common in recent months, with HBO Max leading the charge, wiping several projects from existence.
Undoubtedly, fans and creatives are struggling with the concept, but maybe some of the affected shows could show up elsewhere.
"We will be removing certain content from our streaming platforms and currently expect to take an impairment charge of approximately $1.5 to $1.8 billion," Disney's chief financial officer, Christine McCarthy, said during the earnings call.
Westworld, The Nevers, and other HBO fare popped back up on Fast services shortly after the controversial decision.
But for some shows, this could be the death knell that could be the difference whether new fans find them down the line.

Disney did a little (late) spring cleaning of its streaming services this week, removing several properties from Disney+ and Hulu. Among those that will go on May 26 include some high profile recent shows like “Willow,” “Y: The Last Man,” “Dollface,” and “The World According to Jeff Goldblum.” What makes this troubling for many home viewers who may have been fans (or even stans!) of the affected programs is that, in most cases, there are no Blu-ray/DVD options. In the old days you could always hit record on your Vcr to build a personal library, but it’s not so easy to capture material from streaming—and the whole point of streaming is not needing to do that, right?
As per The Verge, Disney’s cost-cutting is due to a reduction in Disney+ subscribers, to the tune of 4 million in 2023. While the company will have to pay a “content impairment charge” of over $1.5 billion,...

For Halloween 2021, Disney+ entered the world of R.L. Stine with “Just Beyond,” an 8-episode anthology series based on Stine’s line of comic books. The series never got a second season, with Disney+ leaving its fate hanging in the balance these past two years.
Unfortunately, we’ve learned this week that Stine’s “Just Beyond” will be one of many Disney+ original projects that are soon being deleted from the streaming service entirely.
As The Hollywood Reporter explains, “Disney is following Warner Bros. Discovery and removing under-performing titles from its streaming services in a bid to write off nearly $2 billion from its bottom line. In all, there are more than 30 shows that will be removed starting next week from the platforms in this first round of reductions. The titles will vanish starting May 26.”

Willow and Y: The Last Man are among the titles that Disney will be removing from Disney+ and Hulu. As the streaming industry continues to adapt, certain services have begun to pull content off their platforms, including their own original programming, as a way to cut costs. HBO Max used this strategy with the removal of Westworld, The Nevers, and a number of other popular series. Add Disney+ and Hulu to the list of streamers whose complete slate of original shows and films is no longer guaranteed to be there the next time you go looking for it. On paper, Little Demon assembled a team of all-stars both in front of and behind the camera. With the main draw coming via the addition of The Goat in Danny DeVito voicing Satan himself, he was accompanied by his daughter Lucy DeVito (Deadbeat), and Hollywood's resting b***h face in the excellent Aubrey Plaza.
Danny DeVito himself has made a successful career out of also being a voice actor. With such an iconic New Jersey disgruntled and gruff delivery coupled with DeVito's natural acting talent, the performer fit right in on guest spots in The Simpsons as Homer's estranged brother Herb.
So successful, in fact, that the voice acting side quest would have him voice his own caricature in Disney's Hercules in 1997, only continuing to this day with the actor having boasted voice gigs with some of the top animation companies at each of their respective high points.

Frank Ocean broke all the rules in 2016. Marked by its heart-shattering vocals, "Blonde" was an intimate and expressive sophomore album met with critical acclaim and continued devotion from fans. From "Nikes" to "Godspeed," the sorrowful lyrics had us hooked, but before the static-laced notes of "Futura Free" trickled to a finish, he was gone. Now, seven years later, Ocean's hiatus may finally be coming to an end. During weekend one of Coachella, Ocean appeared as a headliner at the 2023 festival alongside Bad Bunny and Blackpink, where he addressed rumors that a new album is in the works.
"It's been so long. Everybody talks about how long its been," he told cheering fans, according to video footage shared on Twitter. "It's been so long but I have missed you. I want to talk about why I'm here because it's not because of the new album.
