Zack Snyder Movies Ranked: From Worst to Best
Image
Is there any current director who is more controversial than Zack Snyder? It’s wild how divisive a figure he is, with his fans nearly cult-like in their devotion, while his detractors are just as fervent. Here at JoBlo, we’ve always been ardent supporters, even if we haven’t unquestioningly praised all of his films. Thus, we thought it would be interesting to do an all-around ranking of his films (although we’ve left the animated Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga’Hoole off the list). So, without further ado, here’s our ranking from worst to best.

Sucker Punch (2011)

I’ll admit to not knowing precisely what Snyder was trying to pull off when I saw this movie in 2011. It remains the most obscure of his live-action films. It is a tough nut to crack, being that it’s a fantastical, hyper-surrealistic fantasy centred around a woman...

Zack Snyder's Forgotten Fantasy Film With 52% on Rotten Tomatoes Returns to Streaming
Image

His credits are full of features like Man of Steel, Batman v Superman, Zack Snyder’s Justice League, the Army of the Dead films and the Rebel Moon franchise. But before he got to make any of those well-known feature films, he directed an underrated animated fantasy film which will now return to Max.

Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga'Hoole is coming to the streaming platform to give fans another peak at this animated feature based on the Guardians of Ga'Hoole book series by Kathryn Lasky. Zack Snyder's 4 Favorite Movies Of All Time
Image
Zack Snyder is most decidedly a divisive filmmaker, but a very popular one at that. From his feature directorial debut, a remake of George A. Romero's zombie classic "Dawn of the Dead," to the complicated DC epic that was "Justice League," he's never been afraid to do the unsafe thing, for better or worse. So, what does a director like that enjoy watching? What are the movies Snyder looks to for inspiration?

Around the time that "Rebel Moon - Part One: A Child of Fire" was debuting on Netflix in late 20223, Snyder spoke with Letterboxd and shared his four favorite movies of all time. First and foremost, without hesitation, Snyder listed George Lucas' seminal sci-fi classic "Star Wars: A New Hope" as his favorite movie. Here's what he had to say about it:

"I'm going to have to say 'Star Wars,' just because I have to. 1977. You don't...

Netflix Gave Us the Green Light to Make It Very Adult - Zack & Deborah Snyder Discuss Twilight of the Gods
Image
Director Zack Snyder and Deborah Snyder the director's long-time producing partner and wife are no strangers to taking deep dives into popular franchises and other fictional universes with rich mythologies. Having worked on high-profile comic book adaptations like 300, Watchmen, the former DC Extended Universe, and their original spin on the sci-fi epic Rebel Moon, the Snyders are now dipping their toes into fantasy with Netflix's Twilight of the Gods.

Conceptualized as an adult animated series for Netflix, Twilight of the Gods follows a young woman named Sigrid (played by Blade Runner 2049's Sylvia Hoeks), a half-human, half-Jtunn warrior who falls in love with a human king named Leif (played by Stuart Martin). After Thor sabotages their wedding with the brutal massacre of Sigrid's Jtunn family, the two lovers join forces with Loki and gather allies to kill the thunder god. Zack and Deborah Snyder spoke with Cbr...

Zack Snyder's Netflix Mythological Series Earns Better Rotten Tomatoes Score Than His Rebel Moon Movies
Image
With Twilight of the Gods unleashing Zack Snyder's Norse mythology retelling onto Netflix, his new animated series has garnered higher praise and a greater Rotten Tomatoes score than most of the Rebel Moon franchise. The animated series focuses on a half-giant who embarks on a brutal quest for vengeance against the Gods after her family are murdered on her wedding day. Twilight of the Gods features an all-star cast including Sylvia Hoeks, Stuart Martin, Rahul Kohli, Paterson Joseph, Pilou Asbaek, and John Noble as many of Norse mythology's most well-known figures, including Thor, Loki, and Odin.

While Twilight of the Gods has been a hit with audiences, its critical response has also led to a unique situation for the director on Rotten Tomatoes. With the mature animated series gathering an average score of 60%, the series has earned a more positive status than both the theatrical cuts of Rebel Moon:...

Emma Stone's Most Controversial Movie Is Getting A Second Life On Netflix
Image
There are certain in-jokes among us chronically online film enthusiasts that'll probably get you strange looks if you crack 'em devoid of context in the real world. Take Zack Snyder's "Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga'Hoole," an animated fantasy epic that made $139.7 million at the box office, yet, as the internet's running gag goes, nobody has actually seen. Then there's /Film's own recurring bit of referring to Mark Wahlberg as a hamburger salesman, which is more factual that you may've realized. However, if you really want to baffle impress your normie pals with your deep-cut knowledge of niche social media humor, all you need to do is applaud Emma Stone for her representation of the Asian-American community.

To clarify for all you fine folks who've no idea what I'm talking about -- this now nine-year-old punchline involving the "Superbad" veteran was birthed by Cameron Crowe's controversial bomb "Aloha.

The Best TV Shows And Movies Coming To Netflix In September 2024
Image
Ah, the fall. In the words of the great philosopher Calvin, "Bugs are dying by the truckload! Ha ha ha! Good riddance to 'em all!" We've still a few weeks left of summer on the calendar, but the days are already getting shorter and dead, crunchy leaves have suddenly begun turning up in my backyard. More relevant to this discussion, it's that time of year when Netflix's original slate typically becomes a whole lot more interesting. This is when the streamer starts rolling out the awards season hopefuls it acquired at film festivals earlier in the year, along with some of its more niche genre films and TV series.

Whatever you flavor is -- whether you're in the mood to traumatize yourself by viewing Studio Ghibli's harrowing animated masterpiece "Grave of the Fireflies" or hate-watch the second half of "Emily in Paris" season 4 or the new season of...

Zack Snyder’s Last Five Films At The Box Office: The DC Visionary Rakes In $2.4B+ In The Last Decade Despite Three Critically Panned Films
Image
Zack Snyder’s Last Five Films At The Box Office(Photo Credit –Instagram)

Arguably one of the most prominent directors in Hollywood, Zack Snyder has defined DC films for nearly a decade. After joining the DC cinematic universe with 2009’s Watchmen, Snyder has helmed some blockbuster hits in the superhero genre. However, in 2017, Zack Snyder pulled out of Justice League, leaving post-production duties and reshoots to Joss Whedon after a family tragedy.

Between 2010 and 2024, Snyder has directed nine films. His four films in the years since he left Justice League have gone straight to the streamer. Five years ago, at the onset of the pandemic, Netflix bet big on Zack Snyder after they acquired his zombie project Army of the Dead (2021), which garnered some decent reviews and won the Oscars Fan Favorite award in 2022.

Then came his ambitious sci-fi project, The Rebel Moon, on Netflix. In Joe Rogen’s podcast,...

Rebel Moon Director’s Cut Trailer Teases ‘Zack Snyder’s True Vision’ On Netflix
Image
For a good while now, Zack Snyder has been teasing his harder-edged cut of Rebel Moon – a more uncompromising version of his Seven Samurai-inspired sci-fi saga, filled with the sort of blood and gore that has characterised much of his other works. The filmmaker was open with his plans on Netflix – to first release a family-friendly-ish Part One and Part Two, before delivering a new version for older audiences that lets his darker instincts fly. Now, we’ve got our first proper look at exactly what that means – and the trailer for Rebel Moon – The Director’s Cut (aka Chapter One – Chalice Of Blood and Chapter Two – Curse Of Forgiveness) certainly doesn’t hold back on the slow-mo blood splatter. Watch it here:

Whether or not you got your fill of Rebel Moon from the initial versions, it has to be said that Zack Snyder’s redux cuts of...

Zack Snyder's Very First Movie Was This Strange Film About Michael Jordan
Image
One of the most stylistically recognizable directors in the business, Zack Snyder's films vibrantly illustrate his unique vision. Though many are strikingly different from one another (Dawn of the Dead might be the furthest comparison to Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga'Hoole), the vast majority of his filmography demonstrates his signature flair: dramatic special effects, a notable adoration of slow motion, and grandiose explorations into the lives of heroic figures. His historically-inspired action epic 300 brought the mythic figure of King Leonidas (Gerard Butler) to the silver screen with memorable and bombastic action sequences, while his work on the Dceu brought the legendary Justice League to live-action after decades of defining the superhero genre. Though these films and franchises are thoroughly distinct, they all serve as exceptional examples of Snyder's directorial vision. But though he's best remembered for these major blockbusters, Snyder had already been crafting his...

"The want war – I will give it to them." Netflix has revealed a very short teaser trailer first look at the new animated series called Twilight of the Gods, the next Zack Snyder creation for the streaming network. He has been developing this in tandem with the Rebel Moon movies, another animated offering much like with his previous Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga'Hoole movie (2010). The series is inspired by Norse Mythology. The Twilight of the Gods refers events that led to the destruction of Midgard and Asgard, then the death of most of the Æsir and Vanir gods in an ultimate battle against evil, the forces of nature and the Giants. Zack Snyder Talks Purity Of Animation Over Live Action At ‘Twilight Of The Gods’ Netflix Presentation – Annecy
Image
Zack Snyder touched down at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival on Wednesday to offer a sneak peak of his upcoming Norse mythology animated series Twilight of the Gods as part of the Next at Netflix showcase.

Aside from the 2010 animated fantasy adventure Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga’Hoole, the Justice League director has worked mainly in live action across his career.

Snyder suggested the process of developing an animation was similar in many ways to that of setting up an action film.

“We do a lot of drawings, and I do love the process before shooting, storyboarding and layout and all that. I like that part of the process when I make a live action film,” he said.

One advantage of animation he suggested was that the director had more direct control over what ended up on the screen.

“You draw something that’s cool, and then...

Twilight Of The Gods Footage Reaction: Zack Snyder Was Clearly Born To Make Netflix Animation [Annecy]
Image
Update: Netflix has unveiled a new teaser for the show, so you can see some of it in action for yourselves. Our original article continues below.

If nothing else, Zack Snyder has a distinct style. Much like Michael Bay, you can recognize a Snyder film the moment you watch it. Whether you clock his use of slow motion, his eye for striking imagery and poses, or his slick action, Snyder's background in music video directing means he knows how to craft memorable images in a short amount of time with limited resources.

This is to say, Zack Snyder was always meant to work in animation. Say what you will about his owl movie, which no one saw, but "Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga'Hoole" showed this, with fantastic visuals that matched Snyder's narrative obsession with myth-making.

Now, he's getting another chance at it, with "Twilight of the Gods.

Netflix Previews ‘Wallace & Gromit,’ Zack Snyder’s Blood-Drenched ‘Twilight of the Gods’ at Annecy
Image
Attendees at Netflix’s presentation for the Annecy Animation Festival got exclusive glimpses at footage from Wallace & Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl and Zack Snyder’s Twilight of the Gods, among other forthcoming animated projects heading to the streamer.

Snyder and producing partner Deborah Snyder took the stage to share sequences from their animated series that is inspired by Norse mythology and hits Netflix on Sept. 19. This included footage of a dragon battle that involved copious amounts of blood.

“[It’s] shocking for me that the main characters form a team,” Zack Snyder quipped about Twilight of the Gods, given the similar themes from his previous work that includes 300, Watchmen and Justice League. He jokingly added, “I can’t wait to do a single character.”

Snyder, who previously directed the animated feature Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga’Hoole, explained that his process for animation doesn’t differ greatly from how he typically works.

Not Man of Steel or Dawn of Justice, These 2 Zack Snyder Movies Were Bigger Financial Disasters For Warner Bros
Image
When we think of Zack Snyder, our minds might automatically soar to his superhero epics like Man of Steel or Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. But did you know there were two other ambitious projects that, despite Snyder’s imaginative touch, ended up being even bigger financial hurdles for Warner Bros?

Yes, we’re talking about the aesthetically stunning yet underrated Legends of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga’Hoole (2010) and the stylistically bold Sucker Punch (2011).

Ever wonder why some films are a powerful combination of visual art and storytelling but fail miserably at the box office, rather than just being a flickering collection of scenes? Both films showcased Snyder’s unique narrative ambition but encountered unexpected turbulence in their financial flight.

While critics’ claims that Warner Bros. did not profit from its high-definition content are untrue, former WB President Greg Silverman has...

Rebel Moon 2's Rotten Tomatoes Score Reveals A Harsh Reality For Zack Snyder's Entire 20-Year Career
Image
Rebel Moon 2: The Scargiver's abysmal Rotten Tomatoes score reveals a sad truth about Zack Snyder's filmography. Dawn of the Dead remains Snyder's best-rated film, showing a decline in quality over the years. Splitting Rebel Moon into two parts hurt its critical reception due to lack of depth and character investment.

The abysmal Rotten Tomatoes score for Zack Snyders latest opus, Rebel Moon Part Two: The Scargiver, reveals a sad truth about the polarizing directors entire filmography. The first two-part Rebel Moon movie was supposed to launch a massive sci-fi franchise that would continue for at least another two two-parters, resulting in a trilogy that would bafflingly consist of six movies. However, after the first part was widely panned by critics and the second part was met with an even worse reception, it seems unlikely that this six-part Rebel Moon trilogy will come to fruition.

Critics Hate It While Fans Love It But Zack Snyder Has No Intentions of Ditching One Crucial Aspect of His Filmmaking

When asking viewers to list the qualities that best characterize a Zack Snyder film, ‘slow motion’ is probably going to be mentioned nine times out of ten. Rebel Moon, his 2023 American epic space opera flick, is probably well-known to those who enjoy visually stunning stories and epic action sequences. In addition, if you have watched the movie, you might have noticed the unusual use of ‘slow motion’.

Naturally, the renowned filmmaker is well aware of that, and during an interview with Wired, he discussed why and how he approaches those kinds of scenes and the kinds of rules he sets for himself and his team while filming.

300 to Rebel Moon: Zack Snyder’s Best to Worst Rated Movies, Ranked
Image
Few modern blockbuster filmmakers draw as sharply divided reactions from critics and general audiences as Zack Snyder. For every review that praises Snyder’s remarkable ability to create grand, fantastical visual imagery on film, there will be another review criticizing the filmmaker’s overreliance on slow motion and weak plot points. Let us take a look at Snyder’s filmography, and the critical reaction to his works as determined by Rotten Tomatoes.

Dawn of the Dead (2004), Tomatometer: 76% Zombies attack in Dawn of the Dead

Zack Snyder‘s maiden effort as a director remains his most critically successful venture. In 2004, Zack Snyder presented the world with his dramatic reimagining of George Romero’s classic horror tale of a zombie invasion. The slick, visually compelling action scenes coupled with a strong screenplay by James Gunn help elevate the film above your run-of-the-mill horror remakes.

Dawn of the Dead is now available for streaming on Starz.

Director Zack Snyder Wants To Fix His Most Controversial Movie
Image
You know that famous quote commonly attributed to Alexander the Great about how he wept when there were no more worlds to conquer? We're starting to think that Zack Snyder feels much the same way, except that his version of conquering the world is more about finding ways to re-release his movies with extra footage attached at all costs.

To be fair, this isn't exactly a new phenomenon for Snyder. His 2004 "Dawn of the Dead" reboot eventually led to an unrated cut down the line and his comic book movie "Watchmen" ended up with several different versions post-release. He pulled the same trick once again with both "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" and, most infamously, his "Zack Snyder's Justice League" experiment that resulted in a completely different movie altogether compared to the theatrical cut. He's planning on returning to the exact same well with his two-part "Rebel Moon" epic...

‘Masters of the Air’ Co-Creator John Orloff Signs with UTA (Exclusive)
Image
John Orloff, the co-creator of Apple TV+ miniseries Masters of the Air, has signed with UTA for representation in all areas.

The move comes after Orloff signed with Verve for representation in January, the same month his high profile and high priced war drama launched. However, in February, the agency became embroiled in an internal battle amongst partners, resulting in the ousting of founding partner Bill Weinstein. Several lit clients were caught up in the churn. Brian K. Vaughan, the comics author and screenwriter, also switched agencies and signed with UTA in March.

Orloff adapted the acclaimed memoir by Mariane Pearl, A Mighty Heart, into a 2007 drama that starred Angelina Jolie and counted Brad Pitt as among its producers. He earned an Independent Spirit Award nomination for best first screenplay for his script.

Orloff also co-wrote the screenplay for Zack Snyder’s animated 2010 feature Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga’Hoole,...

Based on E.O. Chirovici’s novel The Book of Mirrors, Sleeping Dogs opens with a look at Roy Freeman and his apartment. It’s an apartment with notes taped everywhere, even on the TV Dinner he’s about to cook. Neither the operation nor the notes prevented him from microwaving the TV remote, however.

The audience score is higher than the critic score, but still the director's worst since Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, which earned 63%. Rebel Moon is the first entry in a franchise that includes a sequel, animated show, comic book series, and narrative podcast.

Rebel Moon - Part One: A Child of Fire has earned director Zack Snyder his worst Rotten Tomatoes audience score in more than half a decade. The new sci-fi epic Netflix movie follows Kora (Sofia Boutella), who gathers a team of elite fighters to help lead the resistance against the corrupt Motherworld and their military force known as the Imperium. It is the first entry in what is intended to be a sprawling franchise including at least one sequel (which is already set for April 2024), an animated show, a comic book series,...

Zack Snyder’s Best Movies All Have One Thing in Common
Image
The works of Zack Snyder are an immediately distinctive bunch of movies. They tend to feature lots of slow-motion, muted color palettes, and visions of classic genre stories that simultaneously pursue an edgy sensibility with a reverence for the classical ideas of Joseph Campbell. You can always tell a Zack Snyder film from a mile away…well, almost always. 2004’s Dawn of the Dead, Snyder’s feature-length directorial debut, features several hallmarks of the man’s larger filmography, including a propulsive opening credits sequence. However, its camerawork is way less stylized than the style of shooting Snyder would refine in 300, while even its color palette is a lot more reliant on primary colors than, say, Man of Steel or Sucker Punch. Similarly, the 2010 computer-animated kid’s movie Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga’Hoole translates Snyder's sensibilities for the PG crowd.

Zack Snyder at an event for Sucker Punch (2011)
Sucker Punch | Zack Snyder’s planning a director’s cut of this one too
Zack Snyder at an event for Sucker Punch (2011)
He might not get his wish, but Zack Snyder is keen to shoot more footage for a Sucker Punch do-over.

I know one person precisely who’s a massive fan of Zack Snyder’s 2011 movie Sucker Punch. I know lots of people who are, well, less keen.

Amongst the many films that Snyder has made, it’s the one that’s got the worse reviews (now that Justice League has been sorted out anyway). It’s also the one that’s hit the most disappointing levels at the box office too. You could be forgiven for thinking that Zack Snyder would just walk away from it, and get on with his myriad of other projects.

But that, chums, is not the Zack Snyder way. His new films, the two Rebel Moon movies, are arriving with extended cuts pretty much built in. Now, he’s talking about Sucker Punch also getting a revisit.

Zack Snyder Explains Why the Rebel Moon Movies Don't Have Lengthy Runtimes
Image
Rebel Moon director Zack Snyder recently explained why he was adamant that Parts One and Two of the sci-fi epic were both around two hours long.

Speaking with Collider, Snyder opened up about how he landed on the runtimes for Part One: A Child of Fire and Part Two: The Scargiver. " had really wanted to keep the movie close to two hours. That was like a thing I really wanted to do," he said. "I just felt like these two movies together, if they're both about two hours each, and I think movie two is even shorter, it's like an hour and 54 minutes — it's like, I think, one of the first movies I've made that’s under two hours, which is incredible — that was the sort of thing I had in my mind was that I really wanted to keep it close to two hours."

Why Rebel Moon's R-Rated Version Won't Be a Normal "Snyder Cut"
Image
Zack Snyder's decision to release shorter, PG-13 versions of his Rebel Moon movies makes sense considering his history of releasing extended cuts of his films and the larger context of director's cuts. Rebel Moon: A Child of Fire and Rebel Moon: The Scargiver will receive longer director's cuts, adding 45 minutes to an hour of extra content to each film. Planning multiple versions of a movie for different viewing experiences is not uncommon, as seen in the Extended Editions of The Lord of the Rings. Releasing director's cuts of Rebel Moon provides more options for audiences and benefits Netflix.

Zack Snyder is famous for his extra-long R-rated director's cuts, so some have been confused by his decision to release a shorter, PG-13 versions of his Rebel Moon movies to Netflix first. While the situation may seem different to some of Snyder's other director's cuts, it actually makes a lot of...

10 Times Movie Directors Switched Genres & Failed
Image
Some directors, like Guy Ritchie and Tim Burton, have struggled when deviating from their signature genres, resulting in critical and commercial failures. Filmmakers such as M. Night Shyamalan and David Lynch have had major missteps with their attempts at different styles, with their films being widely panned. Even highly acclaimed directors like Spike Lee and Francis Ford Coppola have had disappointing ventures outside their usual genres, often due to the challenges of remaking successful foreign films or taking on unconventional projects.

Some directors who switched styles for a new movie managed to deliver surprisingly great films, but for others, moving away from their signature cinematic language did not quite work. Very few directors have been able to have versatile careers, with most finding success in a specific category and sticking with it. Filmmakers like Martin Scorsese and Steven Spielberg have managed to deliver masterpieces in multiple genres, but this is a rare accomplishment.

Zack Snyder's Rebel Moon Won't Repeat the Dceu's Biggest Mistake
Image
Zack Snyder's upcoming film, Rebel Moon, was originally conceived as a part of the Star Wars franchise but has since become its own original intellectual property, allowing it to fulfill its creative vision. Snyder's previous works, such as Watchmen and the DC Extended Universe films, have a darker and more cynical tone, which might not have been a good fit for the more optimistic and wholesome nature of Star Wars. By detaching itself from established canon and avoiding comparisons to previous films, Rebel Moon has the opportunity to play with its own themes and concepts and stand as the best sci-fi film directed by Snyder.

Zack Snyder is a somewhat contentious director, namely due to his creating the DC Extended Universe. Starting with Snyder's Man of Steel, this controversial collection of movies based on DC Comics superheroes had several die-hard fans and just as many detractors. Thankfully, his newest...

Zack Snyder's Movies Defended by DC Exec Amid Unprofitability Claims
Image
Director Zack Snyder has recently found himself under fire for allegedly losing money for Warner Bros., and former Dceu higher-up Greg Silverman has been quick to come to the filmmaker's defense.

Snyder, whose work directing Warner Bros. films includes such titles as 300, its sequel 300: Rise of an Empire, and the first Dceu movie Man of Steel, is widely regarded as a successful filmmaker in the industry. For instance, his immensely profitable sequel to Superman's standalone movie, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, earned $873.6 million at the global box office, making history as the fifth highest-grossing DC film of all time.

What the SnyderVerse Got Right About the Big Three
Image
American director, producer, screenwriter, and cinematographer Zachary Snyder has been in the spotlight ever since his 2004 remake of the 1978 zombie action horror classic Dawn of the Dead. He also helmed the beloved computer-animated sensation Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga'Hoole (2010), the psychological fantasy action film Sucker Punch (2011), the zombie heist flick Army of the Dead (2021), and the epic space opera Rebel Moon (2023).

Besides that, he is mostly known for his distinctive work on superheroes and comic book adaptations, namely the fantasy war epic 300 (2007), and his DC Comics films: the dystopian Watchmen (2009), Man of Steel (2013), which rebooted the Superman films, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016), and Justice League.

Following a family tragedy, Snyder did not oversee the entire production and subsequent lighter theatrical debut of Justice League in 2017, so he released his own 242-minute-long cut for his dedicated fans in 2021.

Additionally, he may not have actually helmed...

Zack Snyder Needs You To Forget The SnyderVerse
Image
Trigger Warning. This article mentions suicide.

Zack Snyder has long since put the Dcu behind him, and it is time audiences follow suit and forget about the return of the SnyderVerse. Since the release of Man of Steel in 2013, Snyder has been synonymous with the films of the Dceu. However, with James Gunn and Peter Safran moving towards a complete Dcu reboot, the decade-long legacy of Snyder with DC will be erased.

However, Zack Snyder effectively left the so-called "SnyderVerse" behind in 2017 after the tragic suicide of his daughter Autumn. He only briefly returned in 2021 to release Zack Snyder's Justice League as fan service for those upset with Joss Whedon's cut of the film. Despite campaigns from fans to get the SnyderVerse back on track, Synder has since put those days behind him.

The Hidden Detail In Superman's BvS Suit You May Not Have Noticed
Zack Snyder at an event for Sucker Punch (2011)
One can say a lot of things about director Zack Snyder, the filmmaker behind "Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga'Hoole" and "300," but he can never be accused of working small. Snyder has made a métier out of turning schlocky, action-packed fantasy entertainments into outsized, ponderous, navel-gazing four-hour bouts of grandiloquent bombast. Snyder is the credited director on four interconnected films in Warner Bros.' DC comics film series, and served as executive producer on five others in the same series. His films tend to be...

Zack Snyder’s New Netflix Movie May Feature Alien Zombies From Area 51
Two things that Zack Snyder very clearly loves are genre films and expansive mythologies. Indeed, at this stage of his career, it seems pretty unlikely that you’ll find him directing a low budget drama or a straightforward crime thriller, with his entire filmography characterized by flashy visuals and fantastical narratives.

Snyder’s upcoming Netflix original Army of the Dead marks his second foray into zombie territory, while the rest of his output is comprised of five comic book adaptations, animated family film Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga’Hoole, which was based on a book series, and psychological fantasy blockbuster Sucker Punch. In fact, Army of the Dead is just his second ever movie based on an original concept after the latter, and his first in a decade.

The 54 year-old is known for crafting intricate and complex universes around his films, and his latest effort looks to be no different.

‘Army Of The Dead’: Zack Snyder Says WB Wasn’t Interested In His Zombie Film & Reveals New Image

Lord knows filmmaker Zack Snyder has a) been working on the zombie movie “Army Of The Dead” for what feels like an exorbitantly long time and b) has a checkered history with working with Warner Bros. — though to be fair, they were extremely on #TeamSnyder for several years, giving him “Man Of Steel,” and the keys to the Dceu universe even after expensive flops like “Suckerpunch,” and the underperforming “Guardians of Ga’Hoole” and “Watchmen.”
