Taylor Lautner is set to star in a very self-aware(wolf) TV series.
Variety has learned exclusively that Lautner will star in and executive produce the scripted series “Taylor Lautner: Werewolf Hunter,” which is currently in development at Amazon MGM Studios. The project was brought to Amazon by Tornante, the independent studio behind shows like “BoJack Horseman” and the Amazon series “Undone.” Daisy Gardner is the creator and showrunner.
The official logline for the series states:
“After wrapping the final ‘Twilight’ film, Taylor Lautner vanished from the spotlight. Fans speculated, tabloids theorized—but the truth is wilder than fiction. Taylor wasn’t just taking a mental health break. He was preparing for his real calling…Taylor Lautner: Werewolf Hunter. Playing himself, Taylor is drawn into a secret society of werewolf trackers who need his unique expertise. As he navigates his double life—Hollywood actor by day, supernatural warrior by night...

Apple TVs Severance is the perfect blend of mystery, psychology, and suspense. In some respects, its a nuanced, modernist take on the classic Truman Show premise. Dan Ericksons recent smash hit preys upon todays greatest fears by twisting them into an unnervingly recognizable monster. In a society ruled by dispensability and transience, Severance dares to ask what happens to those who are not useful.
Fans of Severance have sung its praises since its 2022 debut, but its not the only serialized existential masterpiece. Back in 2014, ABC introduced its own mind-bending mystery. On paper, Resurrection reads like a rainy weekend page-turner. However, its execution elevated the shows premise to near-cinematic heights.
What Was Resurrection?
Aaron Zelman, best known for his work on Criminal Minds and Law & Order, created the television concept for Resurrection. Resurrection is based on The Returned, a 2013 novel by Jason Mott. Two famed composers created Resurrections score. Blake Neely...

Y2K, a disaster comedy, takes us back to the millennial chaos and satirizes the Y2K computer bug hysteria of 1999. The film, set for release in 2024, features a star-studded cast including Jaeden Martell, Rachel Zegler, and Alicia Silverstone. Expect nostalgic music from 1999 like "Genie in a Bottle" and "Smooth" to accompany this alternate-history horror comedy.
The new trailer for A24's upcoming disaster comedy Y2K takes viewers back to the turn of the millennium. As one of A24's most anticipated upcoming movies, Y2K appears to take on a similar premise to 2013's This Is The End, which portrayed a fictional depiction of the apocalypse. Y2K marks the feature film directorial debut of former Saturday Night Live cast member Kyle Mooney, whose previous writing credits include Nathan for You and Brigsby Bear.

That '90s Show follows Leia, daughter of Eric and Donna from That '70s Show, set in Point Place, Wisconsin. The series has noted historical errors and continuity issues, such as incorrect movie release dates and character ages. That '90s Show focuses more on capturing the vibe of the 1990s rather than maintaining strict historical accuracy.
That '90s Show debuted the first half of its second season on Netflix on June 27, 2024. Or, to make it more confusing, it is labeled "Part Two" with "Part Three," aka the second half of Season 2, set to air on October 24, 2024. Don't worry; that isn't even the strangest thing about That '90s Show. The sequel series to the popular That '70s Show now follows Leia Foreman (Callie Haverda), the daughter of Eric Foreman and Donna Pinciotti from the original series and the granddaughter of Red and Kitty Foreman (Kurtwood Smith and Debra Jo Rupp respectively). Last week, Max finally released the trailer for their much-anticipated The Batman spin-off series, The Penguin, teeing up its fall release date. Overall, it looks highly reminiscent of Matt Reeves’ film, with the cinematography very much in the Grieg Fraser mode. But what else do we know about The Penguin? More than you may think.
The Penguin is set after The Batman.
The plot of The Penguin is set to follow the title character, once again portrayed by Colin Farrell, as he rises through the ranks of the Gotham City criminal underworld. After the events of The Batman and the flooding of Gotham, including the death of Carmine Falcone, Cobblepot desperately wants to fill the power vacuum. Colin Farrell has also indicated that the film will serve as an origin story for the Penguin, something we have seen twice on screen before in Tim Burton’s Batman Returns, played by Danny DeVito.

The soundtrack for Hulu’s Quiz Lady features an eclectic mix of songs from different eras, reflecting not just the primary setting of the movie but its backstory as well. Quiz Lady is a wholesome comedy that starts out with a brief intro that takes place in 1996 before moving forward to the present day. Awkwafina stars as Anne, a mild-mannered woman obsessed with game shows, while Sandra Oh plays her reckless sister, Jenny. While they are polar opposites, Anne and Jenny come together for a memorable road trip and game show appearance to pay off their mothers’ gambling debts.
Nick Urata, who previously scored another memorable road comedy, Little Miss Sunshine, composed the original music for Quiz Lady while the soundtrack includes popular numbers by mainstream talents such as Harry Styles and Smash Mouth. American Idol contestant Remi Wolf is also featured on the soundtrack with two songs in the movie.

Anyone who was a child or teenager in the late-1990s remembers Woodstock ’99; it was one of those presumably life-altering rites of passage that proved you were almost an adult. But much like MTV Spring Break, Woodstock ’99 held a far darker reality only clearly visible after entering adulthood.
Director Garret Price is no slouch at being able to perfectly encapsulate a moment in time, whether that be in the music world (he helmed 2015’s “Janis Joplin: Little Girl Blue”) or a person. Here, the minute the opening guitar riff of Lit’s “My Own Worst Enemy” starts playing, a few of the doc’s attributes are immediately evident: If you loved rock of this period you’re in for a treat, and you are definitely gonna feel like you dropped back into 1999.

Quibi and Kevin Hart are teaming back up for another round of action/comedy shenanigans. The streaming service has announced a sequel to Hart's series Die Hart, which was a self-aware take on the action genre, taking its name from the Bruce Willis classic Die Hard. Rather appropriately, the sequel will be titled Die Harter, named in the vein of 1990's Die Hard 2: Die Harder.
Not much was revealed aside from the initial announcement. The series is produced by Kevin Hart and his long-time business partner Jeff Clanagan for Lol Studios. Hart will serve as executive producer, in addition to his starring role, with Candice Wilson (Lol Studios) and Bryan Smiley (HartBeat productions) also on board as executive producers. Jeff Clanagan, President of Laugh Out Loud, had this to say in a statement.

Paramount is developing a remake of the classic ’80s comedy “Planes, Trains and Automobiles” that will star Kevin Hart and Will Smith, an individual with knowledge of the project told TheWrap.
Hart and Smith will also produce the remake of the 1987 film that starred Steve Martin and John Candy, and Aeysha Carr, who has worked on “Brooklyn Nine Nine” and the upcoming Hulu series “Woke,” will write the screenplay as her debut feature film.
John Hughes directed the original film that was the story of two men fighting the elements and each other in order to get home for the holidays. The new film will be a modern update of the original that will star Smith and Hart as the oil-and-water duo. The original film is famous for the late John Candy’s performance as a wholesome but irritating shower curtain ring salesman and a legendarily profane tirade from Martin.

Fantastic Four director Tim Story will return to the comic book movie genre once again for the superhero comedy Night Wolf. Thirteen years after his heavily criticized Marvel venture, Fantastic Four, Story will also be teaming up once again with frequent collaborator Kevin Hart.
Tim Story is currently negotiating to bring the upcoming comedy Night Wolf to the big screen. The movie is being described as "a Meet the Parents-esque encounter" where a man, played by Kevin Hart, meets his fiancée's father for the first time. However, he soon discovers that his new in-law-to-be is actually the titular superhero, Night Wolf.
As this is a Kevin Hart vehicle, expect hilarious hijinks to ensue, as Hart no doubt attempts to impress his superhero father-in-law whilst flailing his arms around and squealing in that special way that only Kevin Hart can. Night Wolf is being written by Detective Pikachu screenwriters Dan Hernandez and Benji Samit.

As much as people say, “You’re your own worst enemy!” it’s never been truer than for the protagonists of “Gemini Man” (2019), “Fight Club” (1999), and “Us” (2019). Whether through movie-science cloning, mental illness or oppressive class structures (with a healthy dose of late capitalism in all three), this week, the Be Reel guys are looking at movies that pit protagonists against literal manifestations of themselves.

The superhero movie genre is getting Kevin Hart comedy Night Wolf, which comes from the writers of Detective Pikachu.
Night Wolf is joining the seemingly-ceaseless deluge of superhero cinema, with Kevin Hart set to star-in and produce the comedic cinematic genre offering.

Charlie Puth stopped by The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon to hawk fake covers albums titled Charlie Puth Sings ’90s Punk and Charlie Puth Sings Spice Girls. In the process, the “Attention” singer performed piano ballad versions of songs by Blink-182 and Lit.
Fallon presented the sketch like an infomercial from his desk. He even had a mock up album cover to hold up before panning to Puth with his keyboard. Puth performed Blink-182’s “All the Small Things” first in front of videos of men skateboarding and a concert mosh pit.

This review is based off a volume that collects All-Star Batman #1-5.
Unless you’re a casual reader scoping out this review, odds are that you’re at least somewhat aware of the many contributions Scott Snyder has made to the Batman mythos during this decade. To say that he and Greg Capullo have made their mark is an understatement. Whether it be creating the Court of Owls, redefining the Joker or even putting Jim Gordon under the cowl, that dynamic duo may very well one day find themselves mentioned in the same breath as legendary creative teams such as Denny O’Neil and Neal Adams.
But after wrapping a definitive 51-issue run, where does one go from there? For Snyder, at least, the solution for All-Star Batman was simple: Beyond the borders of Gotham City. I must admit that taking the Dark Knight out of his comfort zone opens up some interesting possibilities,...

Bella Thorne’s meteoric rise to the Hollywood big leagues continues today, now that the singer-cum-actress has agreed to terms to headline Break My Heart 1,000 Times, a big-screen adaptation of Daniel Waters’ eponymous novel.
It’ll herald a reunion with Midnight Sun director Scott Speer, who is on board to helm the feature film via Jason Fuchs’ screenplay – best known for Wonder Woman and DC’s long-gestating Lobo movie.
The elevator pitch for Waters’ Ya book champions a mixture of the melodramatic tenets found in The Fault in Our Stars with The Sixth Sense, M. Night Shyamalan’s supernatural cult classic. No word yet on who Thorne is playing in Break My Heart 1,000 Times, but we understand the story “is set after a cataclysmic event has torn the barrier between our world and the next, leaving Remnants — ghostlike essences of the deceased — part of everyday life. After years of quiet coexistence with the living,...

I interviewed actor Christian Slater in November, 2008 for Venice Magazine. Having long had a reputation as an "enfant terrible" in his youth, Slater surprised me somewhat with his calm, measured demeanor and thoughtful outlook. He was promoting his well-reviewed, but ultimately short-lived, TV series "My Own Worst Enemy," which we discussed a bit, but Slater was eager to reflect on his entire career and life, which he did with aplomb. My other memory of the chat is that during our dinner, the power went out in the restaurant or hotel where we met (the location of which has been lost to time) and the halogen streetlights outside casting our talk in a strange, other-worldly glow for a good 30 minutes. All these factors made our meeting a memorable one. Slater can currently be seen on the new USA Network series "Mr. Robot," which is also being lauded critically, and will hopefully...

The 1975 political thriller Three Days of the Condor is in the midst of getting a small screen remake.
As per The Hollywood Reporter, Skydance Productions, which is owned by David Ellison, is currently shopping around a TV series remake of the Sydney Pollack classic, written by Jason Smilovic and Todd Katzberg. Smilovic is no stranger to television thrillers, having been the creator of two short-lived series in the genre, Kidnapped and My Own Worst Enemy. This show will mark Katzberg’s first foray into writing.

Lifelong Oscar bridesmaid Leonardo DiCaprio is moving ahead with The Crowded Room, an extremely buzzy biopic in which he’ll play Billy Milligan, the first person to successfully use multiple personality disorder as a legal defense.
Milligan, who died in December of 2014, was charged with robbery and raping three women on the Ohio State University campus in the 1970s. While preparing his defense, Milligan was diagnosed with multiple personality disorder. He and his lawyers pleaded insanity, contending that two of Milligan’s alleged 24 personalites committed the crimes without his knowledge. He was the first to use this defense and be acquitted because of it.
Some of the man’s personalities included Adalana, a lesbian who admitted to the rapes; Ragen, a Yugoslavian communist who admitted to the robberies; and Arthur, a high-strung but proper Englishman. Perhaps the most fascinating part of Milligan’s story is that Hollywood has not yet...

Christian Slater has signed on to USA Network’s upcoming hacker thriller serial, Mr. Robot. Nabbing the titular role, Slater will topline his first show after his star turn in ABC’s Mind Games.
Before we address who exactly Slater’s character is, let’s take a look at the show’s premise. Thanks to Deadline, we’ve got a decent amount of detailed story information that has piqued our interest. Mr. Robot “centers on a young programmer, Elliot (Rami Malek), who suffers from a debilitating anti-social disorder and decides that he can only connect to people by hacking them. He will find himself in the intersection between a cybersecurity firm he works for and the underworld organizations recruiting him to bring down corporate America.”
It’s a surprise that there’s still such interest in hacking, especially since it’s unlikely any series or movie could ever better 1995’s Hackers.

Broadcasters have invested millions in the production and promotion of these newcomers, and after months of hype, we’ll now finally get to see which ones have a future — and which will end up buried next to the corpses of long-forgotten short-timers such as My Own Worst Enemy, The Unusuals, or Life on a Stick. Vulture and other business and entertainment outlets will pay lots of attention to these debuts over the coming weeks (check back tomorrow for the first big Nielsen report card). Yet despite the understandable obsession with what’s new, network suits will be following another class of programs nearly as closely: the sophomores. It has been another short network TV run for Kyle Killen. On Thursday (March 27) afternoon, ABC pulled "Mind Games" effective immediately. That's what happens when you draw 2.06 million viewers and do a 0.7 rating among adults 18-49. Those were the numbers for this past Tuesday's airing of "Mind Games" and they proved to much for ABC to bear, especially with plenty of inventory on the shelf. On April 1 and April 8, ABC will air encores of "Resurrection" in the Tuesday 10 p.m. hour. Then, starting on April 15, ABC will premiere a new season of "Celebrity Wife Swap," with Daniel Baldwin and Jermaine Jackson claiming to be celebrities in the premiere. The yanking of "Mind Games" after only five episodes completes a dismal year of scripted programming for ABC in that Tuesday 10 p.m. slot. "Lucky 7" was the season's first cancellation after only two airings. After months of filler, ABC premiered "Killer Women" in January,...
