Re mizeraburu: shoujo kozetto

Worthwhile effort

An earnest representation - in 52 half hour episodes - of the mammoth work of love, injustice and revolution. Tailored for the younger audience, the former is emphasized at the expense of the latter two elements, but they are still present to a reasonable degree. More unsettling is the inclusion of several significant characters who never appear in the novel as well as the altered destinies of at least two of those who do. The sweet introductory and concluding songs get kind of cloying after repeated listenings.

Very faithful to the book but with a few unwanted extras.

The single best adaptation of the novel

This is the most accurate adaptation there is, despite a few changes. It is both the most delightful and the most heartbreaking version of Les Miserables I've ever seen. It's absolutely worth your while.
