No, not every year at the annual Las Vegas convention is as eventful as the one in which Olivia Wilde was served divorce papers on stage or when we were all convinced by some screaming fans that “The Flash” was going to be huge, but there’s quite a bit we’re curious to see this year on that (very) big screen.

As it gears up for a busy year of tentpole releases, Warner Bros.’ film division has hired an Amazon MGM Studios executive as its chief business officer.

Ted Lim, who most recently served as head of global strategy and business development at MGM, will join Warner Bros. in a newly created role this week, Motion Picture Group co-chiefs Michael De Luca and Pamela Abdy wrote in a memo to staff on Tuesday.

Lim joined MGM in 2018 from Participant Media, where he served as senior vp strategy and business development, working on investments and acquisitions. Earlier in his career, the exec was part of the corporate strategy and business development team for Disney.

There’s no confirmation on what time period during which it might be set, which means it could take place anywhere from the earliest days of the Galactic Republic to the aftermath of The Battle of Exegol.

Former Netflix film head Scott Stuber has closed a deal with Amazon MGM Studios to relaunch the United Artists label and finance and release features from his new production company.

The arrangement includes a first-look deal with Amazon MGM Studios and will see Stuber based on the Culver City lot, producing several films a year under the UA label for release theatrically and on Prime Video.
