CinemaCon as an annual event does not have quite the same name recognition of something like San Diego Comic-Con. After all, it’s a convention for regional theater owners from across the country talking about theatrical windows and looking new models of projectors.
And yet, increasingly, the major movie studios treat CinemaCon like it is Comic-Con. Fanboy bloggers are invited, the top trailers and new footage teases are touted, and a parade of A-listers take the stage at the Caesar’s Palace Colosseum with pre-written hype sessions about their upcoming films.
No, not every year at the annual Las Vegas convention is as eventful as the one in which Olivia Wilde was served divorce papers on stage or when we were all convinced by some screaming fans that “The Flash” was going to be huge, but there’s quite a bit we’re curious to see this year on that (very) big screen.

Coming up as a TV and not a movie executive finally seems to have caught up to Jennifer Salke at Amazon MGM Studios. Her inability to mesh with the gatekeepers of the James Bond movies might well have sealed her fate. While her exit from the executive suites officially is being regarded as an exit by choice into a producing deal, sources in town say it is closer to a firing.
It was evident Salke had lost luster in the executive suite when she largely was absent from the deals that brought in Amy Pascal and David Heyman as the new producers of the next iteration of James Bond films, sources said. Those deals were made by veteran Warner Bros film executive Courtenay Valenti, who came in under Salke as Head of Film, Streaming and Theatrical. There's been chatter about this on social media for a few days now, but Amazon MGM Studios has just confirmed (via ActioNewz.com) that veteran producers Amy Pascal and David Heyman will oversee the next James Bond movie.
Pascal will produce the film via Pascal Pictures, and Heyman will produce via Heyday Films. It's unclear whether they'll also take charge of what's expected to be a slate of big and small screen projects revolving around 007. Either way, the next James Bond movie is now in their hands after spending decades under the control of Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson.
After clashing with Amazon over the iconic spy's future, they finally relinquished creative control in a deal believed to be worth as much as $1 billion.

Hey girl, Ryan Gosling might be going to a galaxy far, far away. The A-list actor is reportedly in talks to star in the Star Wars movie currently being developed by Deadpool & Wolverine director Shawn Levy.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Levy has been developing his take on Star Wars since 2022, which is said to be a stand-alone movie that will not be a part of the Skywalker Saga. There’s no confirmation on what time period during which it might be set, which means it could take place anywhere from the earliest days of the Galactic Republic to the aftermath of The Battle of Exegol.
Levy is currently enjoying the success that came from partnering with another Hollywood Ryan, as the Reynolds-starring Deadpool & Wolverine was one of 2024’s biggest success stories, having amassed over $1.3 billion at the worldwide box office, making it the top R-rated earner of all time.

Ryan Gosling is in talks to star in a new “Star Wars” film, this one from director Shawn Levy, according to multiple media reports, representing one of the first major developments in the feature film plans for the “Star Wars” brand.
Levy’s project has been in development for years — all the way back to 2022 — with others being added to the overall slate since then. But with Gosling potentially joining the galaxy far, far away, it’s a big shot in the arm to the franchise and makes it likely this would be the next feature film to go.
Lucasfilm and reps for Gosling did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Director Leigh Whannell gave the classic Universal Monsters a shot of modern life in 2020 with his thrilling new take on "The Invisible Man." In the aftermath of that success, Universal Pictures and Blumhouse set about reinventing another monster in the form of the Wolfman. Originally, Oscar-nominee Ryan Gosling ("Barbie") was set to star in "Wolf Man" that had director Cory Finley ("Bad Education") flirting with the director's chair before Derek Cianfrance ("Blue Valentine") came on board. Things changed a lot along the way, with Whannell ultimately settling into the director's chair. But why did Gosling drop out?
Gosling is still credited on "Wolf Man" as a producer, for what it's worth. Yet, he doesn't appear on screen. Instead, Christopher Abbott stars as Blake, the ill-fated man who becomes a werewolf. In a recent interview with CinemaBlend timed to the film's release, Whannell explained that the film didn't change a lot once Abbott took over.

Ryan Gosling's highly anticipated science fiction movie, Project Hail Mary, has made some significant progress. A report via Variety confirms that filming for the project has now wrapped. This is exciting news for many reasons, but particularly because it suggests that the previously scheduled release date of March 20, 2026, could possibly be brought forward. The film's production status was revealed by its writer, Drew Goddard, during an interview with Variety where he also teased what audiences can expect from the movie, an adaptation of Andy Wier's best-selling book of the same name.

Ryan Gosling's new sci-fi movie Project Hail Mary gets an exciting tease as it wraps filming. Project Hail Mary is an alien sci-fi movie about an astronaut (Gosling) who is tasked with saving Earth while he is alone in outer space. The sci-fi film is directed by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller and based on a screenplay by Drew Goddard, which adapts a book by Andy Weir. In addition to Gosling, the project features a leading cast including Anatomy of a Fall's Sandra Hüller, Milana Vayntrub, Bastian Antonio Fuentes, Isla McRae, and James Wright.
Per Variety, Project Hail Mary has wrapped filming. As the project's shooting came to a close, screenwriter Goddard shares some intriguing thoughts on the movie. The writer says, "If you like The Martian, I suspect you’re really going to like what we’re cooking up with ‘Hail Mary.' " He also praises directors Lord and Miller,...

Andy Weir's third novel, Project Hail Mary, has the potential to receive an adaptation as good as The Martian, ideally as a sci-fi TV show. The Martian is Andy Weir's first published novel and one of Ridley Scott's best movies. It revolves around Mark Watney's (Matt Damon) survival on Mars while he waits for a rescue crew. Project Hail Mary almost reverses The Martian's narrative. While The Martian depicts Mark Watney's time on Mars waiting for his crew, Project Hail Mary's protagonist, Ryland Grace, travels even further away on a mission he was meant to perish on to save Earth.
Project Hail Mary follows Ryland Grace during two different timelines—flashbacks of Ryland's final memories on Earth and Ryland aboard the Hail Mary in the present day. The contrast between Project Hail Mary and The Martian makes the former the perfect follow-up. However, Project Hail Mary...

One of the more puzzling box office flops of the year was David Leitch’s The Fall Guy. Despite good reviews, and the fact that it paired two Barbenheimer VIP’s, Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt, the movie performed disappointingly at the box office. It only earned about $92 million domestically, a disaster for a movie that cost in the $150 million range. However, folks who saw the movie mostly liked it, and one of them turned out to be a former Ryan Gosling co-star, Russell Crowe.
Posting on X, Gosling’s The Nice Guys co-star wrote, “Have you seen The Fall Guy? It’s a lot of fun. Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt are great together, lithely pivoting from drama to romance to comedy and back. Worth the watch.”

Hulu has greenlighted Phony, a comedy pilot starring and executive produced by Connie Britton, from Drew Goddard’s Goddard Textiles and 20th Television.
Written, directed and executive produced by Nick Paley (Marcel The Shell With Shoes On), Phony is a comedic coming-of-age mystery about a teenager, Sonny, who wakes up in the hospital after a car accident to discover his mom — his only parent and his best friend — appears to have been replaced by an impostor.
Britton will play Sonny’s single mom Ellen and the principal of his high school.
The pilot brings Britton back to her comedy roots — she started her career with an arc on Ellen before landing a lead role opposite Michael J. Fox on Spin City.
Britton and Paley executive produce Phony alongside Charlie Alderman of Charlie’s Production Company and Drew Goddard and Sarah Esberg via Goddard Textiles. Goddard Textiles’ Andrea Massaro is a producer.

It would take the power of Ken to bring Eva Mendes back to the big screen. The actress hasn’t appeared in anything in nearly a decade, last taking a small role in her husband Ryan Gosling feature directorial debut, Lost River.
“I was never in love with acting,” Mendes explained of her career choices in a new interview with the Sunday Times. “I don’t mean this in a self-deprecating way, but I wasn’t a great actress. I had my moments when I worked with really great people.

Eva Mendes has been taking a lengthy break from acting, in case you haven't noticed. The star of movies like "Training Day," "Hitch," and "The Other Guys" has been on hiatus since her last project, "Lost River," released in 2014. So what would it take to get her back in front of the camera? It's pretty simple: let her work with her real-life partner Ryan Gosling again.
Mendes spoke to Laura Pullman at The Telegraph (she and Gosling are currently stationed in London while he films "Project Hail Mary") and revealed that she would definitely do another project with Gosling, even though she admitted that acting was never a great love for her. "I was never in love with acting," Mendes revealed. "I don't mean this in a self-deprecating way, but I wasn't a great actress. I had my moments when I worked with really great people." In this house we do not bash Ryan Gosling and we do not dish ignorance. But that’s just what one Hollywood producer tried to do, shrinking Gosling down in his attempt to puff up Glen Powell. And Glen Powell is having none of it.
In a social media response to this unnamed producer, Glen Powell wrote, “Gosling is a legend. I’m just Glenn”, a play of course on Gosling’s Oscar-nominated “I’m Just Ken.” That is categorically humble of Powell, who is one of the biggest stars going through films like Top Gun: Maverick and Twisters, not to mention terrific performances in works like Hit Man, which further demonstrated how diverse he can be. That he is remaining humble amidst all of this shows just why people continue to support him.

Ryan Gosling's sci-fi film Project Hail Mary blends Interstellar and Memento in its premise. Gosling stars as an astronaut facing memory loss to save humanity in the upcoming film adaptation. Project Hail Mary is directed by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller.
Ryan Gosling will return to science fiction (following in the footsteps of Blade Runner 2049) with Project Hail Mary, which contains a premise that sounds awfully similar to two former critically acclaimed Christopher Nolan movies. The upcoming sci-fi film is adapted from Andy Weir's 2021 book of the same name. Project Hail Mary (the novel) follows Ryland Grace, a schoolteacher who becomes an astronaut and later wakes up from a coma with amnesia. Ryland has some memories of his last space mission, but if he doesn't put the puzzle pieces together soon, the future of humanity could be at stake.

Doug Liman still has a bone to pick with Amazon MGM Studios over what happened to “Road House,” but he and others may put that bad blood aside if Amazon is as serious about expanding as it’s hinting around town.
As first reported in Reuters, Amazon and MGM want to ramp up to 16 theatrical releases per year by 2027, which a source with knowledge told IndieWire is accurate.
That’s more than double where the companies are at now, with just six theatrical titles planned in 2024. The 16 titles also doesn’t include any movies Amazon would release outside the U.S., the movies that it might acquire from other studios (sometimes in the 5-6 movies range), or even include the movies it intends to release directly to streaming on Prime Video.
That would be a major increase in output, and 16 releases — it’s unclear if (and unlikely) they’d all...

Ryan Gosling is jumping into the world of horror by producing an adventure-comedy about zombies attempting to reintegrate into a "post-post-apocalyptic" society. Amazon MGM Studios recently landed the feature package based on the short story "I Used To Eat Brains, Now I Eat Kale" from identical twin brothers Adam and Daniel Cooper, or The Cooper Twins, as they're also known.

Box office disappointment of recent films raises doubts about upcoming sci-fi movie's commercial success. Project Hail Mary, like The Martian, follows a sole protagonist facing high-stakes challenges. Potential blockbuster status of Project Hail Mary hinges on author's following and engaging source material.
As promising as this upcoming sci-fi movie may seem, I cannot help but be concerned about it after The Fall Guy's disappointing $170 million box office. 2024 started on a high note when Dune: Part Two dominated the box office by earning almost $712 million against a budget of $190 million. Ryan Gosling, the dreamy hunk & laudable talent, has become an emblematic figure of Tinseltown, especially after the colossal hit, Barbie. From the gripping action thriller Drive to the epic crime drama The Place Beyond the Pines, and, of course, to the financial maestro in The Big Short, his artistry spans a kaleidoscope of roles.
And who could overlook that spontaneous quip in The Big Short that had us all convinced of his impromptu prowess? Yes, this 2015 biographical crime comedy-drama, in which Gosling’s brazen remark about his “math specialist”, piqued our interest with its raw spontaneity. Rumors have long circulated that the quip in which his character calls out the Asian guy (Ted Jiang) for doing all of his math was an unscripted genius moment, leaving viewers in awe of Gosling’s acting genius.
