Tugs on your heartstrings

"Lucy Shimmers and the Prince of Peace" is a heartwarming film that beautifully promotes hope and faith. The young actress in the main role delivers an outstanding performance that will tug at your heartstrings. This touching movie left me in tears, reminding us of the power of belief and the beauty of innocence. Is it the best movie I've ever seen? No. Does it warm your heart? Yes! It made me wholeheartedly believe in the power of friendship, hope and faith. Yes the acting from the adults isn't the best by any means, the little girl outshined the lot of them. But if you like a movie that tugs on your heartstrings, give it a watch!

Slow at first but with an emotional twist

A bit of a slow start and the acting is a bit mechanical at first, but little Lucy is adorable and the end of the movie was very moving. A beautiful reminder that although God does not necessarily saves us from pain, He can use all things to do good. A Christian Christmas feel good movie with a sad yet heartwarming end.

Different kind of Christmas story.

This is not a blockbuster of a movie, in fact it is small and simple with actors who have no big screen credentials. But none of that matters because of the meaningful story. It is about Lucy, a special five year old girl who gets sick a few weeks before Christmas. She has a pneumonia infection that proves to be very difficult. While in the hospital she befriends a man who is incarcerated but needing a kidney.

I see one review calls this a "sad sad sad" movie and I suppose you could look at it that way. But I prefer to look at it as a "happy happy happy" story of redemption and how caring more for others can make great things happen.

The little girl is really good in the role of Lucy, the story was written and the movie directed by her grandpa, no doubt was also the reason for the focus on Lucy and her deceased grandpa in the movie.

My wife and I watched it at home on DVD from our public library. It is faith-based all the way and I suppose that will turn off some viewers.

God works in mysterious ways

This film stars off a little slow but before it goes off you will be tearing up. I found myself having a lump in my throat at the end.. don't want to spoil anything.. if you like good hearted family films this is a classic.

Good story, terrible supporting cast

I watched this film with my 8 year old daughter and we really enjoyed it. The main cast are very good, especially Scarlett who is just adorable and really carries the film. However the supporting cast in the prison, hospital, etc are terrible. It's like they have never acted before, I don't understand how there could be such a contrast and it's a shame because it let's down a wonderful film.

Do you believe in angels?

Whether you enjoy this film depends on your ability to ignore the (let's be honest) pretty awful manipulative and syrupy script and soundtrack and focus on the film's message.

It's not a good film in many ways - it's not remotely realistic and works on clichéd tropes. Lucy's pathetic cough made me smile though, the creepy grandpa who seemed to be pining to be back on the ranch, the security guy who appears to oblivious to everything around him and my favourite - Bart who had been polishing the same square of flooring for several years!

But we despite the formulaic offerings, it does make you think about the innocence of children, the bond of families, hope, faith and forgiveness. It would be great to be everyone's friend, wouldn't it?

Alas that little souls such as Lucy Shimmers do not make a difference in this way - but they do on a smaller scale.

So - if you want a proficient and skilful film then you will not get it here but if you are prepared to just go with the sentiment, then go on - have a little weep and offer up some thanks that love comes in so many forms. Films are often a fantasy based on truth and so I am pleased to have met Lucy Shimmers. You might care to meet her too.

Guaranteed to Tug at Your Heart

Well done!!!!! This movie of faith, is well written and even better directed as evidenced by the superb performance by the little star. You don't get that kind of delivery without expert direction, so kudos to the directors. The film is cute, heartwarming, uplifting and yet is still a real tear-jerker. In the great sea of modern films, this one stands out for its ability to deal with some very hard issues without the vulgarity, nudity and drug use common to the industry. THANK YOU

Horrible

If you value the art of filmmaking, you will hate this piece of propaganda. Not a single thing is done well in this movie. The music, shot composition, story, etc are all abysmal. The only tiny thing of value is some of the acting is ok, but its not enough to make up for the flat and awful direction. This movie is the christian equivalent of jingling faith filled keys in front of a child. It is so just awful. I have seen 15 second commercials more engaging than this movie. It so bad. I don't understand why Christians enjoy this. There are better religious movies than this. This is barely even a movie. This movie makes me want to just redo it and make it even kind of passable. How do you fail so hard at making a film? This isn't even a film. I hate this so much.

disappointed

This is definitely not a blockbuster of a movie, in fact it is small and simple with actors who have no big screen credentials. But it is a tear jerker about a five year old girl. Acting was pretty bad on every character and low budget movie. Lucy, a special five year old girl who gets sick a few weeks before Christmas. Prior to going to hospital and while in the hospital, she sees her grandpa who passed away and now and angel. She also befriends a man who is incarcerated but needing a kidney. None of it make sense. A five year old wanting to give one of her kidneys to a criminal???

What frustrated me most about the movie is the bad acting and movie scenes. She sneaks into the criminal hospital room while the guard it too busy playing video games on his iphone.

I stuck with watching the movie til end. Pretty much ended like you thought it would.

Ruined what could have been a good movie

I understand that their main objective in making this movie was to help others become Christians but this isn't the way to do it. Constantly mentioning Jesus and the Bible turns people away. Let the story speak for itself and do the work. You could have very easily told this story with subtle mentions of Jesus and the Bible and more people would have seen it and been positively affected.

Also, the acting was HORRENDOUS. I know the budget of this Christian film probably did not allow for great actors but it was regularly so cringy. You could have easily paid very little for real actors that need work and built a better audience.

You just simply missed the mark on the best way to bring people to Jesus through this movie.

A touching film.

An incarcerated man who is suffering renal failure, a five years old girl Lucy, who looks at her grandfather and speaks with him: then Lucy has a dream about a sad man. Lucy has to go the hospital because she has a pneumony infection and meets the sad man. That is different Christmas story where the gifts are the friendship and the organ donation. Also a nice story of redemption (God works on mysterious ways).

Great performances of Scarlett Diamond, Vincent Vargas, Adam Hightower, Florencia Contreras Stevens and Shawn Stevens.
