The acquisition also includes Eagle Eye’s Belgian production partner Happy Duck.

The team behind international streamer Walter Presents, which has made the likes of Professor T for ITV and The Couple Next Door for Channel 4, will become part of the ITV Studios indie stable via an undisclosed majority stake deal.

As part of the deal, ITV Studios has also acquired a majority stake in the Belgium-based production services company Happy Duck, led by producer and director Dries Vos, which services Eagle Eye’s global slate.

Eagle Eye was previously part of the Channel 4 Growth Fund, with the network now exiting its 25% stake.

Exclusive: Starz and Channel 4 have greenlit thriller The Couple Next Door starring Poldark‘s Eleanor Tomlinson and Outlander’s Sam Heughan.

Filming has commenced in Leeds and Belgium on the six-part thriller from Professor T producer Eagle Eye Drama, which follows Tomlinson’s Evie and Pete (Harry Potter star Alfred Enoch), who move into an upscale neighborhood and find themselves in a world of curtain twitching and status anxiety. They find friendship in the shape of the couple next door, alpha traffic cop Danny (Heughan) and his wife, glamorous yoga instructor Becka (Jessica De Gouw), but after Danny and Evie share a passionate night together there is trouble ahead.

Israel has become the latest destination to embrace Love Island, with ITV Studios-backed Armoza Formats set to produce a local version for new Keshet streamer Free TV. Filming will take place in May for a summer air date, as Israel becomes the 26th territory to commission a version following the announcement of Malta and Albania last week. Avi Armoza’s ITV Studios-backed The Four creator Armoza Formats is producing the local version. The company, which was acquired by ITV Studios in 2019, pivoted earlier this year to become ITV Studios’ production arm in Israel and has already produced two local versions of Come Dine with Me for Kan 11 along with the likes of The 1 Club and The Chase. Beta has shopped MipDrama’s Buyers’ Coup de Couer Award Award winner House of Promises and thriller The Wall to several buyers, as the Munich-based distributor prepares a line-up of 25 dramas for Mipcom later this month.

The 12-part House of Promises, a visually striking banner series for Rtl+ set in 1920s Berlin, has gone to pubcasters Svt in Sweden, Dr in Denmark, Nrk in Norway, Yle in Finland, Err in Estonia and Lrt in Lithuania. The Middle East’s Mbc has also taken it for streaming service Shahid.

Eagle Eye Drama, the U.K. scripted production indie headed by Walter Iuzzolino that is known for hit TV shows such the British remake of Belgium’s “Professor T” have announced the launch of Belgium-based production company Happy Duck Films.

Eagle Eye, which was set up by Iuzzolino and other founders of his foreign-language drama streaming service Walter Presents, have now teamed up with Belgian director Dries Vos who directed the “Professor T” remake and local line producer Hiskia Van Aert to set up this new venture.

Happy Duck Films will be based in the Belgian region of Flanders and will produce a wide range of English language titles “with creative talent from Flanders and beyond,” a statement said. No projects were announced.

Dries Vos will be joining the Happy Duck Films board of directors alongside its U.K. head of production Isobel Nicholson.

In British director Eddie Sternberg’s feature debut “I Used to Be Famous” – produced by Collie McCarthy at Forty Foot Pictures for Netflix – two sides of the music world clash with each other. Netflix released the trailer for the film Monday (below), and Variety has been given the first-look images, exclusively. Apple has announced the premiere dates for ‘Five Days at Memorial,’ a new limited series from Academy Award winner John Ridley and Emmy Award winner Carlton Cuse; and, ‘Bad Sisters,’ the witty and emotional darkly comedic murder mystery from Emmy Award-nominee and BAFTA Award-winning star and creator Sharon Horgan.

The limited eight-episode series ‘Five Days at Memorial,’ will debut globally on Friday, August 12 with the first three episodes, followed by one new episode weekly, every Friday through September 16.

Based on actual events and adapted from the book by Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Sheri Fink, the series chronicles the impact of Hurricane Katrina and its aftermath on a local hospital.
