No one cares where his gold is...

I must admit that I wasn't harboring much of any high expectations for the 2020 horror movie titled "Vengeance of the Leprechaun's Gold" (aka "The Leprechaun's Game") given the movie's cover actually. But still, with it being a horror movie that I hadn't already seen, of course I managed to find the time to sit down and watch it.

Well, it was a waste of my time and effort really, because this wasn't a particularly enjoyable or entertaining movie. And with it being in the horror genre? Well, let's just say that you will not find anything scary in the movie. Well, unless you count some dubious acting performances and the make-up on the leprechaun scary...

The storyline in "Vengeance of the Leprechaun's Gold" was pretty straight forward, and required absolutely no involvement from the viewer, so you can just lean back and watch the movie and switch off the brain. Not that the movie's storyline offered much of any worthwhile entertainment, though.

For a horror movie then "Vengeance of the Leprechaun's Gold" was really weak. There was nothing scary about the movie, as I mentioned earlier. It felt, at best, like a home project to make a horror movie.

You might want to skip on this 2020 movie from writers Shannon Holiday and Louisa Warren, as your time, money and effort is better spent elsewhere. I am rating "Vengeance of the Leprechaun's Gold" a mere, but generous, three out of ten stars.

Gravity Defying

This movie defies gravity, as it both sucks and blows at the same time.

Oh man...

Yet another cheaply cranked out British 'horror flick' that's 90% talk and 10% horror.

Here we have a leprechaun (a fully grown man in a Halloween mask and costume) who comes after a group of thieves led by possibly the worst actor ever. Seriously, this guy seems to be phonetically repeating his lines, so unless he is def or doesn't speak English... yeesh.

Director Louisa Warren churns out multiple of these types of films a year, and I must be a sucker because I've watched most of them.

If you're looking for a fun leprechaun film, stick with the titular series. Leprechauns Game offers little fun apart from a few minutes chuckle at the audacity.

Pretty Silly 🍀

Guess it wasn't to be taken very seriously anyways. "Where's my pot ".....needed plenty of weed to finish this movie. If I wasn't stoned....don't think I'd be able to finish it. Leprechaun needed a ton of work. But....all in all....kinda of a fun movie.

Nonsense story with an underwhelming villain

I wouldn't bother with this film, the villain's completely dull and has no personality unlike Warwick Davis's version where he's at least fun to watch. Plot is rubbish and moves at a snail's pace, kills are lackluster and uninventive, there's no appeal to watch the film.

1/10: Awful all round.

Cue card acting

The black dude in this horrendoid movie is the worst actor on planet earth. Clearly reading off cue cards the whole movie. A Mannequin could act better, a cactus, a rock. Other characters not as bad but this specimen takes the GOLD🥇☘

not as bad.

Hoping for a Sequel!

This was a very fun movie. Being a fan of the Original American franchise, I knew that I was definitely going to love this one. Great job to all the cast and crew! 🍀

A fun enough genre effort let down by some minor drawbacks

Looking to make some fast money, a group of strangers is tasked with completing what was supposedly a silly request involving stealing leprechaun's gold but when it turns out to be true and the malevolent creature begins stalking the group to reacquire it must outwit him to survive.

Overall, this was a rather solid genre outing. One of the finer features here is the great setup that gets this one going with a solid note featuring all sorts of appropriately intriguing characters in this situation. The whole idea of why they're together, to pull off a silly mission for a sketchy businessman involving looking into a leprechaun's pot of gold only to find that the legend of the creature was real all along and is now out to torture and kill them for taking it, makes for a fine starting point with the various individuals here coming together for their reasoning. Whether it's to handle the financial affairs of a sick one, provide a better life for a spouse who can't afford their current lifestyle, or help pay off loans acquired through nefarious means, the central setup to bring everyone together here is a generally fun one with people down on their luck and unable to get out of it rather than just being equally sketchy underlings of the main boss getting attacked and killed off as that adds some nice gravitas to the sequences throughout here. That plays a large part in the film's rampage sequences as these scenes, however problematic they turn out to be, come off with a fine sense of viciousness and mean-spirited energy with the supernatural figure using his powers to exact revenge. With each of the characters going around after the heist and trying to utilize their genuine motivations for going along with it in the first place, these scenes feature some rather impressive confrontations with the leprechaun using either blunt objects to kill them normally or bring about his devious powers to provide a more gruesome and overtly nasty means of attack here which provides for some rather decent special effects for the kill scenes. Despite not being genuinely creative or over-the-top in the kind of manner this scenario calls for, there's a much better sense of cruelty and carnage on display here by going for this kind of graphic encounter as this builds along nicely with the hints the creature's there before he attacks that generates some suspense as well to all give the film a lot to like here. There are some issues to take into account here. Among its main factors is the questionable motive of why the creature never attacks consistently as the manner of switching up the means of attack is somewhat odd. The use of knives or other kinds of objects to slash and stab victims is fine enough and makes for a decent enough villain, but then to add in the powers he has where he can manipulate the body unnaturally or create gruesome wounds out of nowhere feel at odds with the type of film being presented. Having both here makes for a rather different tone where the film shifts tone depending on how it kills its target whereas the more supernatural-powered kills feel more malicious and unnatural compared to the more traditional stalking scenes. The other factor with this one is the series of obvious low-budget drawbacks which feature all sorts of usual methods where the cheap mask of the leprechaun, the lack of proper scale or flimsy effects that are all expected here and don't detrimentally hold it back but still combine to hold it down.

Rated Unrated/R: Graphic Language and Graphic Violence.

Get Drunk To Enjoy This One!

I love bad horror, which lead me to be amused at some points of this film, but honestly overall it was terrible, with terrible acting. Some actors kept looking off to side like they were reading from que cards even. Even if you are the type of person who enjoys bad films, get drunk with friends to help you enjoy this one.

For some reason there was a need to add a bunch of terrible lore to the leprechaun myth too, a lot of it didn't make sense, and was a bit over the top. At least it wasn't boring, it was just mainly a bit weird.

Four leaf clovers are meant to defeat them. And leprechauns collect souls or something?

Worst film

This is a terrible film and I wasted my chemo money on this. Daniel Sawicki is the worst actor I have ever seen and the plot makes me wish I didn't spent 2 hours of my limited time on this asinine excuse of acting. This film must be some kind of financial tax relief scheme as there's no way in hell anyone would make this out of earnest.

Pretty bad

I've seen a few leprechaun films over the years, but this one is by far the worst.

The actor of the eponymous creature does a poorly imitated accent. If you remember the good old films with Warwick Davis, which were bad in a good way, then you can only shake your head at this one. The leprechaun here is boring and sounds more like a bear with a broken voice. The plot is very predictable and hardly offers any amusing moments.

This film managed to make me turn it off halfway through. I was hoping for a sequel to 2018's Leprechaun Returns. That film was not to be taken seriously either, but offered much more fun.

My advice is to stay away from this film and watch the old ones from 1993 instead.

WORST MOVIE EVER

Okay so the leprechaun wasn't even tiny and the acting was so bad, I was laughing so much!!! It didn't even show them getting hurt like it did in the original movies. I do not recommend at all... Kinda looked like a bunch of high schoolers filmed this on there phone and just added affects.

So many inaccuracies

Not one person ever recies a penny.. yet they all act like they have money..

Not one person can act..

The director who lets face it, no man would pull let alone main cast.. cannot act.. she was a no one in a Harry Potter film ..

Suddenly Warwick Davis is Shakespeare

Seeing as most of my favourite films are cheesy B-movies which are either horror/sci-fi, or both, I have a special place in my heart for the (original) 'Leprechaun' franchise, starring Warwick Davis as the titular nasty little fella, always hell bent on getting his greedy supernatural little hands on his mislaid gold. Yes, as the franchise went on, generally audiences tuned out and the sequels were less and less impressive, compared to the original.

Now, I knew that this 'Vengeance of the Leprechaun' had nothing to do with that franchise and so wasn't expecting any of the cast or crew to spill over. But I was at least hoping the film-makers would have a decent take on the mythos and produce something that was at least entertaining (and I will always take 'entertaining' over 'good').

Sadly, all I got was a cheap, nasty little B-movie which could have been made for the price of a postage stamp. The actors (and I can just about call them that loosely) are pretty awful and some of the scenes are directed poorly and the edits drag scenes out making the dialogue even more shoddy than it already is.

Don't get me started on the special effects - they're really not that special, if they ever come at all. The inclusion of a slight green filter is about the high point of the film-makers budget. The creature himself is little more than a bloke in a mask and he's not even a little person, making his status as 'leprechaun' almost comically - in a bad way.

This is a bad, cheap film unworthy of the 'Leprechaun' name. I know it's probably not anything to do with the old Warwick Davis franchise, but if you're into cheeky black comedy horror films with little nasty supernatural bad guys then go for one of them over this pile of tosh.
