    Fair Short

    Nosebleed (2008)

    ** (out of 4)

David Arquette plays a man who sits down to enjoy a steak when his nose starts to bleed. He plugs it up with some toilet paper but wakes up the next morning with his pillow covered in blood. He frantically searches the house for something to plug it up only to have the other side to start. This B&W short runs a brief 8-minutes and it's really up to the viewer to draw an explanation as to what's going on. Considering Arquette is alone with the bleeding starts and can't find anything to help him, I'm going to guess that loneliness has something to do with the message of the film. I can't say this was a bad movie but at the same time there's really nothing here to make me recommend it to people either. There's really no style to speak of and Arquette isn't really given anything to do other than to freak out and destroy an apartment looking for something to plug his nose. If you have 8-minutes to kill you won't find this to be a complete waste but then again, I really wouldn't go out of my way to find it.

    pure crap

One of those "Look! It's weird so it is good!" pieces of garbage that people claim to like because they think it makes their film taste superior to others to like crap.

Just because it is the quality of that of a high school film project (that got a C-) doesn't mean it is art or that it is worth watching. This truly is the kind of garbage you seen on YouTube, only without the annoying metal music so prevalent on YouTube.

Perhaps the only good thing you can say about this movie is that it is the best work David Arquette has ever done in his life. Not just best movie. Not just best entertainment job. It is the best thing David Arquette has ever done in his life.

But it is no big surprise that Jeff Vespa has not graduated onto real movies. Sorry Jeff...You are about to turn 42 and you haven't made it yet. Time to give it up and join the Bloomingdale's management program.

Is that a bullet in your nose, or are you glad to see me...

In a 10 minute short that's almost totally silent (except for background noises and effects - and grunts), David Arquette plays a man who develops a horrendous nosebleed, and as it's shot in crisp black and white - the starkness of the blood is more-so.

His frustration escalate as the nosebleed refuses to stop. His remedy is - well, let's say..odd.

There's Beck's DEVIL'S HAIRCUT as the main song played, while David celebrates - dancing around in his PJ's - his nosebleed stopping...or does it? Does the blood stop, or, is there...something more? While I like David Arquette, and think it's nicely shot, the story it presents is...so-so, I'm afraid. Not terrible, but not great. A short film should grab you (which this certainly does), and set up a situation (ditto). Though it doesn't need to be resolved, it should leave the viewer - at least with a question that you can wonder about.

Nosebleed does just that, but, when you get to the end, the question it leaves you with is really not worth it, I'm sorry to say.

    one is the loneliest number

Nosebleed is about a man who develops nose bleeds as a result of his loneliest.

I have not seen many short films but i feel this movie deserves a review. so forgive me if you don't agree with my thoughts on the film.

I thought it was nice art film. I wouldn't say good, but I wouldn't say bad. Just nice, but 100% art. If are not a fan of art don't see this film you will not like it. If you are a fan of art then you will love it. There is only one actor in the film and he gives a great performance. I could really understand his feelings of depression and loneliness. The director also did good job of conveying his story to the audience. This film is almost a silent film but little sounds through out the film are crucial to the film's experience. Over all it is a nice art film and I give it a seven out of ten.
