Saloni Khanna joins cast of 'Broken But Beautiful 3'

Mumbai, May 17 (Ians) Actress Saloni Khanna, who has worked in shows such as "The Raikar Case" and "Coldd Lassi Aur Chicken Masala", will soon be seen in the web series, "Broken But Beautiful 3".

Saloni will share the screen with Sidharth Shukla and Sonia Rathee. She will play Maira Desai, Rumi's younger sister. Her character is elegant, poised, and knows what she wants to do with her life.

"The story of the show is very different from what I have done before. Also, my character is someone who I look up to. She continues to care for her sister despite whatever she does to her. I love taking up characters that are challenging and this one just fits the bill perfectly," she says.

India’s Yoodlee Wraps Four Projects Amid Pandemic

As the coronavirus pandemic rages on in India, boutique producer Yoodlee Films has managed to complete production of four projects while adhering to Covid-safe guidelines.

Kanu Behl, known for “Titli” which played Cannes in 2014 and “Binnu Ka Sapna” that won Clermont-Ferrand in 2019, is now is post-production on “Agra,” starring Rahul Roy (“Aashiqui”) and Priyanka Bose (“Lion”). The film that was at Busan’s Asian Project Market in 2015, explores confined spaces and suppressed sexuality in small town India, and is headed for the festival circuit.

Heist caper “Bahut Hua Samman,” directed by Ashish Shukla (“Banned”) and starring Sanjay Mishra (“Masaan”) completed post during the pandemic and will premiere on Disney Plus Hotstar on Oct. 2.

Yoodlee has also completed principal photography on two films: romantic comedy “Comedy Couple,” directed by Nachikent Samant (“Habaddi”), starring Saqib Saleem (“Bombay Talkies”) and Shweta Basu Prasad (“Hostages”); and horror-comedy “Zombivali,” directed by Aditya Sarpotdar (“The Raikar Case...

The Raikar Case: Soap opera suspense

"The Raikar Case" is a whodunit that makes its intention rather clear with the very first scene. The young scion of a powerful clan is out to commit suicide diving off a cliff. The fall is captured with melodramatic relish, in slow motion as the camera augments the impact with a top angle shot.

This one, you get the feeling right at the onset, will very much be a 'desi' mystery - not too heavy, but loaded with the vintage played-to-gallery burst of emotions.

As the seven-episode storyline unfolds, you realise that the hunch is not altogether misplaced. Series director Aditya Sarpotdar and his team of writers have obviously made extra efforts to balance schmaltz with suspense. It is almost as if they wanted to make a family soap opera that, by the way, is highlighted by a mysterious death.
