Jake Johnson joins Marvel Cinematic Universe Star Tatiana Maslany in Apple TV+'s upcoming dark comedy series Maximum Pleasure Guaranteed. Maslany, who played the titular character in the MCU show She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, was previously cast in Apple TV+'s 10-episode dark comedy this past February. Maximum Pleasure Guaranteed will be directed and executive produced by David Gordon Green (Halloween). The series, from Apple Studios and Counterpart Studios, was developed by and will be executive produced by Simon Kinberg and Audrey Chon for Genre Films under their first-look deal with Apple TV+, and Bard Dorros for Anonymous Content.

Warner Bros. Television Group has struck a first-look TV deal with writer/director/producer Paul Feig and his producing partner Laura Fischer.

The agreement will see Feigco Entertainment develop and create original programming across all genres, including live-action scripted, unscripted and animation for all platforms, including HBO, Max, external streaming services and the broadcast networks. The multi-year pact marks Feig’s first with the studio. Other terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Discovery studio, he will develop and create original programming in all genres — live-action scripted, unscripted, animation — to be produced through his Feigco Entertainment production company for all platforms, including Wbd’s HBO and Max as well as external streaming services and the broadcast networks.

While he has branched into features, most recently directing and producing Another Simple Favor, starring Anna Kendrick and Blake Lively, for Amazon, Feig’s roots are in television where his career was launched by the 1999 cult favorite Freaks & Geaks, which he created.

The news comes exactly three weeks after Feig inked a first-look film deal with Lionsgate, which is where he previously had a similar deal for television.

Paul Feig has inked a first-look film producing deal with Lionsgate, with the studio announcing the news during its presentation at CinemaCon.

Lionsgate chair Adam Fogelson revealed Tuesday at the Las Vegas event that Feig, director of the forthcoming sequel Another Simple Favor, signed the pact through his production company Feigco Entertainment, headed up by Feig and producing partner Laura Fischer.

“From his breakthrough with Bridesmaids to his most recent movie The Housemaid, I’ve been fortunate enough to work with Paul for 15 years,” Fogelson said. “His sense of character and story are among the best in the business — that’s why his movies are so relentlessly entertaining. Paul and his producing partner Laura are a formidable team, and I’m delighted to be expanding our relationship.”

Added Feig, “The reason I wanted to call Lionsgate my home is because working with Adam, Nathan [Kahane], Erin [Westerman] and the team is always an incredibly positive experience.

The news comes in the wake of Feig’s sequel Another Simple Favor world premiering at SXSW to a 78% fresh Rotten Tomatoes critics score; that pic set to stream on May 1 on Prime Video.

There’s a fabulous reunion happening behind the scenes of Peacock’s hilarious new comedy, Laid. Michael Angarano, who plays one of the former lovers of the show’s main character, the bewitched and bothered Ruby (Stephanie Hsu), has reunited with a former Will & Grace pal. That’s Laid executive producer and co-showrunner Sally Bradford McKenna, the Emmy-nominated writer and producer who penned 14 episodes of Will & Grace from 2001 and 2006. The latest collaboration between Netflix and Executive Producers The Duffer Brothers (“Stranger Things”) is the supernatural mystery series “The Boroughs.” Per Variety, six new cast members have been added, including actors Dee Wallace and Ed Begley Jr. (Strange Darling).

Rafael Casal, Jane Kaczmarek (“The Changeling”), Eric Edelstein, and Mousa Hussein Kraish have also joined the cast.

The logline for the upcoming series sounds like a blend of “Stranger Things“ and Cocoon that sees Senior citizens saving the world from an otherworldly threat. The official logline:

“In a seemingly picturesque retirement community in the New Mexico desert, a group of unlikely heroes must band together to stop an otherworldly threat from stealing the one thing they don’t have… time.”

The six new cast additions join previously announced cast members Alfred Molina, Geena Davis, Alfre Woodard, Denis O’Hare, Clarke Peters, and Bill Pullman. In other words, “The Boroughs“ is shaping up to have an impressive cast.

New casting information has just been revealed for The Boroughs, the next Netflix series executive produced by Ross Duffer and Matt Duffer. This will mark the follow-up show for the Duffer Brothers after they conclude their work on Stranger Things.

Per Deadline, a slew of new names have been announced for The Boroughs. Among them is Jane Kaczmarek (The Changeling), who was previously nominated for an Emmy for playing the family matriarch in the hit sitcom Malcolm in the Middle. Other new names joining The Boroughs include Rafael Casal, Ed Begley Jr., Eric Edelstein, Mousa Hussein Kraish, and horror genre icon Dee Wallace. Each of these actors is reportedly set to be featured in a recurring role.

Over the past three years, Max Winkler has become near-synonymous with the expanding Ryan Murphy TV portfolio. Winkler is already at work on their next collaboration. From writer Chung Seokyung, Tempest follows Seo Munju (Gianna Jun), a highly accomplished diplomat and former ambassador to the United States, and Sanho (Gang Dongwon), an international special agent shrouded in a veil of secrets, as they race to uncover the truth behind an attack that threatens the future stability of the Korean peninsula.

Details regarding who Cho, Gorham, Hannah-Kim and Bertrand will portray are under wraps.

Tempest is directed by Kim Heewon and co-directed by Korean martial arts director Heo Myunghaeng (The Outlaws 4). The series is produced by Imaginus, Showrunners, Studio AA and Action School.

Cho can next be seen in the upcoming sci-fi horror film Afraid opposite Katherine Waterston which opens on August 30. He is best known for his portrayal of Hikaru Sulu in Star Trek (2009) and its two sequels Star Trek Into Darkness (2013) and Star Trek Beyond (2016) and Harold Lee in the Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg hit comedy Harold & Kumar franchise led by Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle (2004). His recent credits include HBO’s The Sympathizer, The Afterparty for Apple TV+, Netflix’s Cowboy Bebop and Fox’s The Exorcist for TV. His film credits include Don’t Make Me Go (2022), The Grudge (2019) and The Graduates, which he also executive produced.

The Tempest reunites Cho and Gorham, who starred in the ABC series Ugly Betty.

Gorham most recently starred in Netflix’s The Lincoln Lawyer. Before that, he had series regular roles in Netflix’s Insatiable, USA’s Covert Affairs and The WB’s Popular. He is best known for his portrayal of Henry Grubstick in Ugly Betty opposite America Ferrera.

Hannah-Kim most recently starred as Sensei Kim Da-eun in seasons 5 and 6 of Cobra Kai, a continuation of The Karate Kid story starring Ralph Macchio and William Zabka. Hannah-Kim co-starred in the drama series alongside Bertrand. Cobra Kai was No. 1 on TV globally in its debut week on Netflix with nearly 15M views. Since then, its viewership doubled its viewership for Season 6A. Before that, she recurred in Max’s Minx.

Bertrand is currently starring in Netflix’s Cobra Kai as Eli “Hawk” Moskowitz, a role he’s portrayed across the show’s six seasons. His prior credits include lead roles in Max’s Batwheels, Disney Channel’s The Swap and for Nickelodeon, Jinxed and Marvin Marvin.

Following its huge success with Red, White & Royal Blue, the adaptation of Casey McQuiston’s bestseller, which last year came in as one of its top three most-watched romantic comedies of all time, Amazon MGM Studios has greenlighted development on a sequel, with stars Nicholas Galitzine and Taylor Zakhar Perez set to return.

After making his feature debut with the first film, Matthew López has returned to write the script for the sequel — this time, alongside McQuiston. Berlanti Schechter Films’ Greg Berlanti and Sarah Schechter will return to produce the film, joined by the banner’s Michael McGrath, as well as López. McQuiston will executive produce.

Released last August, Red, White & Royal Blue follows Alex Claremont-Diaz (Perez), who upon his mother’s (Uma Thurman) election as President, is promptly cast as the American equivalent of a young royal. Handsome, charismatic, brilliant — his image is pure millennial-marketing gold for the White House.

Dropout has set a new series of live recorded comedy specials titled “Dropout Presents.” The series will launch on June 12 with Hank Green’s “Pissing Out Cancer,” taped at Dynasty Typewriter in Los Angeles

Green is a YouTuber best known for the “Vlogbrothers” channel he runs alongside his brother, John Green, with whom he also produces educational shows such as “Crash Course.” He is also the author of the novels “An Absolutely Remarkable Thing” (2018) and “A Beautifully Foolish Endeavor” (2020).
