The Blood of Dawnwalker is clearly on its way to achieving gaming greatness with its unique premise, setting, and mechanics that have been lovingly crafted by Rebel Wolves, a studio that houses some of the greatest minds behind The Witcher franchise and Cyberpunk 2077.

A recent lore drop that explored the origins of the game’s main antagonists, a coven of vampires responsible for giving the game’s protagonist Coen his powers, is widely being seen as a bold move from Rebel Wolves who seem very confident in their upcoming title. However, the studio might want to pay attention to an area that The Blood of Dawnwalker’s inspirations were lacking in.

HBO announced production’s gotten underway on Lanterns, based on the popular DC Comics property Green Lantern. Filming is taking place on the Warner Bros lot in Burbank.

“The series follows new recruit John Stewart and Lantern legend Hal Jordan, two intergalactic cops drawn into a dark, earth-based mystery as they investigate a murder in the American heartland,” reads HBO’s synopsis. Aaron Pierre (Rebel Ridge) stars as John Stewart and Kyle Chandler (Godzilla vs. Kong) plays Hal Jordan.

The comic book-inspired series also stars Kelly Macdonald, Garret Dillahunt, Poorna Jagannathan, and Ulrich Thomsen. Chris Mundy serves as showrunner, writer, and executive producer.

“From the start, our driving force has been to deliver a layered drama – rooted in nuanced storytelling and rich world building – that balances tension and mystery with honest, authentic emotion,” said Mundy.

Olive Sturgess, whose many acting credits through the 1950s and ’60s included numerous TV Westerns and the Roger Corman horror spoof The Raven starring Vincent Price, Peter Lorre, Boris Karloff and Jack Nicholson, died February 19 in Los Angeles. She was 91.

Her death was announced by her family.

Although her TV career included guest roles in such comedies as The Donna Reed Show and Petticoat Junction, her forte was the television Western, a genre that was wildly popular in the ’50s and ’60s. During those years, Sturgess made guest appearances on Cheyenne, U.S. Marshal, Sugarfoot, The Texan, Rawhide, Have Gun Will Travel, Lawman, Buckskin, Rebel, Laramie, Wagon Train, Maverick, The Rebel, Tall Man, Outlaws, Bonanza, Wide Country, Destry, and The Virginian. In 1965 she appeared in the Western feature film Requiem for a Gunfighter.

In an undated interview on the Western Clippings website, Sturgess reflected on the early days of her career.

Exclusive: Yellow Veil Pictures has acquired all North American rights for Lucile Hadžihalilović’s dark fairy tale The Ice Tower, following its buzzy world premiere in competition at the Berlin Film Festival.

Set in the 1970s, the picture follows runaway Jeanne (Clara Pacini) who falls under the spell of Cristina (Marion Cotillard), the enigmatic star of The Snow Queen, a film being shot in the studio where she has taken refuge.

A loose adaptation of Hans Christian Andersen’s fable “The Snow Queen,” Hadžihalilović’s fourth feature marks her second collaboration with Cotillard after 2004’s Innocence, and also co-stars August Diehl, Marine Gesbert, and a cameo performance from director Gaspar Noé.

Hadžihalilović’s other features are Evolution (2015) and Earwig (2021) which both world premiered at San Sebastian as did Innocence.

The deal was negotiated by Hugues Barbier, Justin Timms and Joe Yanick for Yellow Veil Pictures and Eva Diederix for Goodfellas.

Apple TV+ released the full trailer for Prime Target, a new thriller premiering on January 22, 2025. The two-minute trailer introduces Edward Brooks (played by SAG Award winner Leo Woodall (The White Lotus), a mathematician who places a target on his back due to his work with prime numbers.

Today, Apple TV+ is excited to share a trailer for Prime Target, an eight-episode series starring SAG Award winner Leo Woodall and Quintessa Swindell.

Premiering on Apple TV+ with a two-episode launch on January 22, Prime Target “features a brilliant young math postgraduate, Edward Brooks (played by Woodall), who is on the verge of a major breakthrough. If he succeeds in finding a pattern in prime numbers, he will hold the key to every computer in the world. Soon, he begins to realize an unseen enemy is trying to destroy his idea before it’s even born, which throws him into the orbit of Taylah Sanders, a female Nsa agent (played by Swindell) who’s been tasked with watching and reporting on mathematicians’ behaviour.

In the Prime Target trailer, Leo Woodall plays a Newton-ridiculing, mathlete determined to find a pattern in prime numbers. Cracking the code to prime numbers, figures only divisible by one and itself, means access to any computer across the globe. This also makes him the “prime target” for an unknown threat.

During their Consumer Electronics Show (CES) presentation last night, Naughty Dog head Neil Druckmann officially announced that The Last of Us season two will debut this coming April, exclusively on HBO and streaming on Max.

There's a new reason to watch Netflix's hit action thriller Rebel Ridge, aside from the film's critical praise. Rebel Ridge debuted to great reviews and a nearly perfect Rotten Tomatoes score of 95%. Led by Aaron Pierre's performance as former marine Terrence Richmond, the film follows his discovery of systemic corruption in a small town. Rebel Ridges cast, intense action scenes and compelling themes have elevated the Netflix action movie and led it to be compared to films like Walking Tall and First Blood.

While there's nothing particularly revolutionary about Rebel Ridge in terms of its plot, the movie ended up being one of the best recent action movies on Netflix because of how well it executed that story. The nuanced political thriller does a great job of exploring important themes such as racism and flawed laws. Rebel Ridge cleverly uses action sequences and the cast's performances to build tension and keep audiences enthralled.

The thriller Rebel Ridge was announced back in 2019, but took five years to make its way out into the world because the production was delayed by the pandemic lockdowns, then by the departure of lead actor John Boyega a few weeks into filming, reportedly due to “family reasons.” Saulnier has said that the making of Rebel Ridge saw him “slamming right into the Hollywood I’ve tried to avoid,” and, “We came back three years in a row to make that movie.” But the troubles were worth it, because the finished film was well-received (you can read our 8/10 review Here) and a success on Netflix. While you might not think it, given the movie's slow-burning plot, and hand-to-hand fight scenes, Rebel Ridge features well over 500 VFX shots which were hidden in plain sight. The new movie, directed and written by Jeremy Saulnier and starring Aaron Pierre, has been a smash hit for Netflix, boasting a strong 96% Rotten Tomatoes score and rushing to the top of the streamer's Top 10 chart. As the tension draws to a head, Terry Richmond (Pierre) unleashes brutal vengeance on the corrupt police officers who inadvertently caused his brother's death. The scene is filled with brutal fight choreography and, far more surprisingly, a lot of visual effects.

Jeremy Saulnier, the director responsible for Netflix's hit action thriller Rebel Ridge, has said that he's already working on his next film. Unfortunately, for those digging his latest feature, he isn't working on a sequel to Rebel Ridge, or something remotely touching on the same genre. Apparently, he has decided to go back to his less "sober" roots.

The director appeared on The Playlist podcast, where he expanded on the screenplay he's currently writing. Saulnier has decided to return to the tone of previous projects like Green Room and his first feature, Murder Party, and take a more fun approach to his unique storytelling style. Per Saulnier's statement:

Even with Knock at the Cabin and Guardians of the Galaxy's Dave Bautista fronting it, action outing The Killer's Game has unceremoniously bombed at the box office. Bautista is typically part of an ensemble in his movies, and The Killer's Game was never going to hold a candle to a Guardians of the Galaxy or Dune flick, which could be part of the reason why the movie has floundered. One would also be hard-pressed to name any advertising they'd seen for it prior to the week of its release.

Even with Bautista, Rebel Moon's Sofia Boutella, fellow Guardians of the Galaxy vet Pom Klementieff, Deadpool 2's Terry Crews, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings' Ben Kingsley, and superstar Ice Cube, The Killer's Game was undoubtedly the big loser of an already slow weekend at the box office. It opened in sixth place with $2.6 million at 2,623 theaters.

While fans are enjoying Dennis Quaid's performance of former U.S. President Ronald Reagan, he has another movie that was released 20 years ago that's making waves on streaming. The Day After Tomorrow, which Quaid stars in alongside Jake Gyllenhaal, Dash Mihok, and Sela Ward, has jumped to the #3 spot on Netflix worldwide, falling just short of Rebel Ridge and Hobbs and Shaw.
